Vine Turtle: Concept Art
I know I am a master artist but please shower me with compliments for my amazing MSPaint skills

The Vine Turtle would be a large sea reptile lazily swimming around the Kelp Forest. They play an important role in the Kelp Forest ecosystem, eating old Creepvine that grows too large, and distributing Creepvine Seeds to grow new Creepvine. Stalkers would often attack the peaceful Vine Turtle, but to no avail, as the Stalker's Teeth are no match for the Turtle's tough hide. Stalker Teeth would often break off, remaining embedded in the Vine Turtle's shell for the player to collect. They are also quite intelligent, and would recognize and become friendly to the player if they remove all the Stalker Teeth from its shell, opening up around the player and making happy noises when you're around. Due to the tough nature of their shells, they won't even mind if you grab onto their backs and hitch a ride as they swim around the Biome.
Behaviors:

We need more large, peaceful creatures. Turtle friend could be such a creature.

Behaviors:
- Eats and generates new Creepvine plants regularly. They would be placed on the ground underneath the Turtle at regular intervals, implying that it eats the Creepvine, then poops out the seeds, which also fertilizes them. To prevent deforestation, it would spawn a new plant shortly after eating one, and before eating another, so there is never a deficit of Creepvine for the player to Harvest.
- Would regularly swim to the surface for air, before returning below. this could be used by a player that has made Friends with the Turtle as a way to avoid drowning, as grabbing the turtle on its way up before the screen turns black could always teleport you to the surface.
- Would fold up into its shell when a Predator or Player approaches, becoming like a neutrally buoyant rock that can be shoved around but not damaged.
- Would spawn with 3-5 Stalker Teeth embedded in its back. These can be collected by the Player to make the Turtle friendly. New Teeth can be added to the Turtle's back if it is attacked again by a Stalker.
- Making the Turtle Friendly will have it open up around the player and make happy turtle noises. The Player can then grab onto the Turtle's back and ride it as it wanders around the Biome.
- If you attack the Turtle after making friends, it will swim off in one direction forever until it despawns. How could you betray your friend like that? You monster.

Re: 'BOREALIS RISING' - A Subnautica Story V2.0.
Drone DELTA moved cautiously, keeping to the shadows. It was heading for the Lava Castle's main medical bay, tasked with providing an advance assessment of the situation in there. The drone's spindly legs moved slowly but surely over a dense carpet of Kharaa biofilm, its proximity sensors alert for any threats lurking unseen in the pools of darkness ahead. Emergency lighting modules set into the central corridor's walls at sparse intervals emitted a feeble blue-white glow, achieving little more than making the surrounding darkness visible.
"Captain, DELTA is currently 50 metres south of the Med Bay. Biofilm density is increasing commensurately with closer proximity to this location. I suspect that this drone may have located a focal point of the Kharaa contamination. Unfortunately, this does not bode at all well for our prisoners. What are your orders, Sir?"
"Roger that, IANTO. Our first priority is to secure the atmospheric processing facility and commence decontamination. As soon as the airlock opens, Jenner and Pasteur will begin clearing a path through the worst of that biofilm. Once we're in place, DIGBY, JUNO and Gawain will head to the reactor room and see what can be done to get power back online in there. Even if it involves running a bloody extension cord back to the atmo plant. Whatever can be accomplished in the shortest possible time with minimal personal risk. Stay sharp, and don't take any chances. All set?"
Depressurisation cycle complete. The airlock doors slid open slowly, scraping off dense sheets of Kharaa biofilm as they retracted. The fragments fell with an obscene slithering, slopping sound, like entrails falling onto an abattoir's gutting table. We advanced cautiously, spread out in a vee-formation across the wide corridor. Héloise was clearly repulsed by the scene before her, although her over-riding expression was one of grim resolve.
"You certain you're okay, lass? We can take it from here, if you're not feeling up to it."
"Oui. I am perfectly fine, Alexander. I have seen worse than this." She replied. "Polyakov's work."
"All the more reason for you to avoid seeing what might lay ahead. You're certainly no shrinking violet, and for that I'm eternally grateful... Although you're still not quite one hundred per cent recovered from your illness. I'm only trying to spare you from the worst of it, that's all."
Héloise grinned ferociously, bunching Pasteur's right manipulator into a fist the size of a beach ball. Without warning, she whirled around and slammed it into a wall corner, sending a spray of basalt shards flying.
Okay. That's one way to make your point.
"Trés galant, ma Cher. However, I can still protect myself... As you can plainly see."
"Just making sure, Dear Heart. Not that there was ever any doubt, of course." I said hastily.
Jenner's left foot skidded nastily as it set down, although the suit's gyros compensated in time.
"Whoa. This biofilm's getting a wee bit tricky to walk on. I conjure now's as good a time as any to start misting. All units, MARTIAL protocol is enabled. Weapons hot. Héloise, set the flow-rate to one litre per minute and activate your suit's jets. Let's start clearing this crap out from underfoot."
"Affirmative, my dear Captain. I am at your command. Allons-y!"

Beautiful screenshot showoff thread
Subnautica is easily one of the most "screenshotable" game I've ever played, and I've gotten a hoard of really nice looking screenshots. So I'm gonna show them off and invite everyone else to do the same.

Re: 'BOREALIS RISING' - A Subnautica Story V2.0.
@Bugzapper : I feverishly await the next post! Like many others, I've created an account on the forums merely to thank you for this awesome story! I discovered it just on chance earlier this week whilst looking into the "Dark zone", which I had really hoped we would have. And I have just finally caught up, reading on the slow times at work, sad times ahead!
You've certainly made my days progress much faster, and have brought Subnautica to the forefront of what I feel like binging my time on this weekend!

Re: Can you think of any features that could be removed?
Healthbars
Ya you think you shoot good, try it without healthbars. Makes the game balanced.

Re: The Story Of Julian. The One And Only Survivor Of The Rich Clan Airship.
alright, here it is:
I removed superfluous capitalization, changed some basic text to make sentences make logical sense, but for the most part I've left the basic story untouched. A few notes to @Julian1337331nailuJ: Capitalizing every word makes the text rather an eyesore to read. It stresses each word unnecessarily, confuses objects that should be capitalized, and muddles sentences- rendering them difficult to read. Once the capitalisations are removed, the story is actually pretty comprehensible.
Julian1337331nailuJ wrote: »Day 1: The day I got here. When I woke up, I was immediately surprised by the fact that the escape pod was damaged. It had been tested with everything and sustained no damage, but this? Impossible! I honestly said, "What could have damaged the escape pod? It’s impossible to damage it!" (Please don't be a Gramzi and annoy me about my grammar errors.) I sighed and left the escape pod.
The Aurora was what I saw first. "Wow. What could have happened to that?" Then I looked behind myself, and I saw the airship. When I saw the airship I said, "What!?!? WHAT!?!? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE AIRSHIP!?!?" I was surprised. Then I just decided to go into the water. How? Simple. Sprinting- and Jumping. When I had gone underwater (I'm a Lucario because why not.) I saw a Warper. Then I heard it through my suit’s radio, and it said: "Subject detected. Main task switched." I then get my main stasis cannon and I launch it at the Warper to get it to stay still, so I can’t be launched away. Then I get into the escape pod and go to its storage bay. Then I get the Base Building Kit and just get back out. Then I start building my base.
My base looks a lot different than everybody else's. It’s small at first. It has a basic Eternal Power Generator Model 1. The Eternal Power Generator can be upgraded. I always have my first models made without any materials needed. However, Despite being Second In Command of the Rich Clan (I was there then it started), the upgrades will take some materials. The tools were on emergency mode and you will need a supercomputer for them to be put off of emergency mode. However, that will need a lot of materials to make.
Day 2. I got a repair tool after a while of working in the base. When I got it I said "Yes! A repair tool!" I then went to the escape pod to repair it. When I repaired it I got a 10% material discount, meaning I can get things faster. It was then I realized: I might have forgotten about a possible explosion chance. However, I thought, it will take a few more days to have it explode.
Episode 1 ends here. You guys can change the episodes. If you want to join, you can, if you want other things to happen.

IndieDB Indie of the Year Award
Hello again everyone,
So some of you probably saw my last discussion on this forum attempting to get people motivated and all come to a common goal; to win Subnautica an award! Now last time, during the Steam Game Awards, it didn't go so well. This was to be expected considering people had their own opinions on which topic they wanted to nominate the game for and we were competing against massive games with fan bases 10x our size.
This time I think we have a chance to have Subnautica win an award, which I think we can all agree that it should win and get some more recognition because Subnautica is just a wonderful game.
We need your help to give Subnautica a fighting chance in this years IndieDB Indie Game of the Year Competition! I believe this competition is right up our alley; its smaller so we don't have to go up against huge games and since its only featuring indie games, which Subnautica is, it should be possible for it to win. Also Subnautica is up there with some of the best indie games I know, even in its unfinished state, so lets give this game and its amazing dev team something it deserves! Lets all come together as a community and do this!
All you need to do is click vote on this webpage and you are done:
http://www.indiedb.com/games/subnautica
I thank you, as I am sure the developers at Unknown Worlds do as well, for voting on Subnautica's behalf!

Re: Forum Information
So, why am I resurrecting this discussion that has been long dead?
1. Just to show how old this Subnautica forum, so we can reminisce about the olden days. I mean November 2013! That's just over 3 years ago! Subnautica wasn't even in early access if I remember correctly. Think of how far Subnautica has come since then, I don't even know if anyone in this forum even knew what this game would be like at the time. Now we have the Lost River, Sea Dragon Leviathans, an amazing fan story (Brought to you by @Bugzapper), politics of all things, and a community of great people. We should be proud of where we have come from, as we head for the future.
Merry Christmas!
