Personally I'd rather see UWE move on to a new title than start churning out cosmetic DLC. As somebody who does texture work for a hobby it always strikes me a cheep to charge for cosmetics, and having a billion variants of everything running around…

The problem with having cosmetic DLC is it is rendered rather moot by the steam workshop. Why pay for a skin when you can get one of equal quality for free no strings attached?
