Yeah that's true, there's lots of downsides to that option. -
NS2+ has an option to auto pickup better weapons, the issue with that is that I've heard the GL is treated as better than the SG and I don't really want to accidentally pick one up and drop my SG.

Well I mainly play on TA but I'm pretty sure it happens on any. I've experimented with just dropping a weapon without another to pick up and it seems there is some kind off cooldown, but clearly it's not long enough or this wouldn't happen 7/…

Easy enough to modify the PKGBUILD slightly with the old 1.2.0 zip from the sndio site. Did this myself a couple of weeks ago to get it working then blacklisted it from updating. Don't have it on hand at the moment because I'm using Windows to play …

After playing on Windows for about a week and not experiencing a single crash I think hardware can be ruled out. Whether the issue is with the game itself or the nvidia drivers is still up in the air though.

Commander bindings can be rebound, personally I like the defaults though, the grid works. Never understood why people hate it so much, except the azerty users etc.

They stopped that, now it blocks audio and pops up a message when you'd get an ad anyway, even if you have adblock.

DX11 was a waste of time yeah, since everyone still uses DX9 to avoid bugs and OpenGL is for Linux only and apparently the Linux build suffers huge problems right now? (Might be for just some users). Also I don't think 11 offered much of a perf. inc…

EDIT: Also this is in BF4, NOT ns2. As has been pointed out, for ns2 this won't help because of the reason for the bottleneck. -
I found base clock for the 3570k was still too crappy for fps for this game. Needed over 4.0ghz.
