There is way too much negativity towards Combat. It is a very fun twitchy shooter, and way more polished than the original NS2/1 mod. Balance is way better with the simple changes of level required for some abilities, CC shield, and timer on refund …

Hmm not really, the reload time on GL is too long even for 1 grenade. In fact firing once and reloading takes so much time that it cant really be used in close combat ( vs fades and lerks ). It will effectively reduce the dps of G… -
Easy way to solve nearly all problems about GL: detonation becomes manual ( for instance with the reload button). Primary/secondary fire could control whether or not the grenade is sticky or not, if there is some time to implement sticky nade.

And again, few good players trained with GLs. I took some time to train vs flying lerks, and it it is possible to aim and one shotting them with reasonnable accuracy with GLs. A seasoned JP/GL is really formidable in an anti player role. Even fades …

It may be a niche game, but still it is alive. Tribes Ascend went out in 2012 as NS2 and it is dead now. And dont get me wrong Tribes Ascend ( at start ) was really good.

To add something to all the above excellent posts, use parasite extensively . Even if you are a crappy skulk and cant kill marines, use parasite and help map awareness of your team ( lerks and fades really appreciate this! )

That s actually a good idea. I have seen way too many walking lerks/fades from green players. -

It is. Rifle bash range is a little lower than the axe. It also works better when crouched (or tapping crouch+rifle bash). -
I had noticed this issue two days ago when i turned on multi threaded physics, thought it was my connection spazing. Will try again without it.

Exos rush BO dont work in pubs for two reasons:
If you have a single not-so-bright marine who buys a GL or flame thrower when AA finishes ( ~3mn), aliens WILL know what's coming.
A clever skulk will wonder why marines don't h… -
Some stuff i miss from NS1:
* Clean maps and geometry. A good example of this would be Eclipse in NS1 and NS2. Also stuff hanging from the ceiling in nearly all NS2 maps pisses me off to no end.
* Cluttered screen. NS1 screen… -
I still don't get how people are praising cloaking after all this time; you ARE visible even when not moving. It needs a bit of experience, but once you know how to recognize the shimmer you will notice it. And if you get noticed you are dead. You a…

I honestly recon i havent read everything in this thread ( stopped at page 3 ), i would to pinpoint some stuff that hasnt been focused on:
* There always will be stacking when 2 friends want to play together, and nothing we can do can ch… -
I concur, hotkeying individual marines is unvaluable, even in pubs.

Interesting, I was doing some profiling on NS2 this week end, and rebuilding luajit with some profiling tools to check why exactly NS2 is generating so many page faults. Now i have someone to pester with questions :P

What? :P
Exos are fine for their job, which is a) guarding light marines from the back lines or b) defend a long corridor or base from the top of the CC. It is *not* a tank or a front line unit, JPs are ( both are achie… -

Khamming definitively needs love too, it is just so boring to play now, even with drifters. Drifters usage should bring fun, but right now they are so unwieldy to control and its turn speed is infuriatingly frustrating.

Growing fond of crag 1st, shade 2nd. Fades have to adapt but a cautious cara/aura fade wont get killed easily. Also mucous membrane + hallucinations complete nullify your problems to close in. It requires heavy drifter usage but is really worth it.

Even med'ing mediocre players can be useful to gain some precious time for a redeployement, flanking, etc... Med'ing a player should have a purpose, either to enpower the med'ed player, conserve map control or to create a buffer zone.

Exos arent slow anymore compared to on foot marines (obviously not jp). They just need too much support to work properly.

Just for the record, i had this bug when patch went out. I figured out it was because NS2 was locked in beta version, even though i never asked him to switch to beta branch in "Game files do not match the server's..." Comment by Draconis February 2014

What i was saying with that example is that only time spent and the outcome is taken into account. The fact that you actually contribute to the success of your team is irrelevant, and can be abused. I didnt thought of getting vote kicked ( not all s…

Time spent is an abusable metric. A player afking random games will gain points in your proposed solution.
For instance, i could launch NS2 and join an unadmined server leave a book on my F1 key which is bound to j1 and leave my computer… -
Pretty much everything elodea said about eclipse is spot on. For instance:

@Roo Yeah i have heard it before.

@Kalabalana: I mean, look at the recent NSL finals. Marines positioned themselves to either cover all lanes going to their main, or position themselves to trap fleeing …

Does this means skulks wont lose all their speed when colliding with a marine? I would be happy if you could wall jump off a marine as wellAccuracy for both aliens and marines is a good statistic for individual player skill. You cannot put a score on teamplay/map awareness.(Quote) Oh jeez, old memories...
One thing i noticed when talking about shade hive is noone talks about aura; which is imo one of the strongest ability in the game. Shade hive does not imply phantom!
