Lerk Bite Back!

The latest beta has brought back lerk bite...unfortunately it replaced spikes. I've started a poll on my site, what does the NS community want to see happen with lerk?

    would they please stop with the lerk meddling... at least consult lerk experts on what lerks should have...

    bite/spore/umbra/primal (why again do lerks need primal?)


    ugh.... dont get me wrong i like bite... but spikes are important 2...

    cant u just go with all 3

    EDIT: i think i was not quite awake when i wrote this, or on some kind of opiates (druggs)

    Bite/spikes/umbra/spores

    Maybe beef umbra up a bit so that it's justified as a 3 hive weapon.

    This should stop the (justified) whining that marines don't have a counter to early lerk; if you don't have heavies by three hives you deserve to lose anyway.

    Wow, I just had this strange notion of actually posting this in the S&I forums...

    As much as bite kicks ****, theres one problem, lerks are slow as hell now and most peeps can down a lerk pretty fast up close. I would rather keep my ranged weoponry, (ok so i still have a fun habit of perching on rines while spiking them)with the current flight speed.

    Also just take umbra out cause i swear to the gods of ns umbra doesnt stop ANY bullets AT ALL.

    NEVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE DESTRUCTIVE POWER OF PRIMAL SCREAM. OMg think of this now, focus + primal scream uber SUPER OMEGA DAMAGE.

    My most prefered order is bite, spike, umbra, primal scream. godd am i hate spore. but god dam their deadly. but god dam i still hate em.

    why they ever feel they needed to get rid of lerk bite in the first place, ill never know

    now if only they can give lerks some of their armor back, like 100-60, or something

    and actuly the best lerk idea i heard was from nadagast:

    wich was to take umbra(as its so week allready) and spores wich are also much weakend

    combine them into one attack umbra/spores, bolth are clouds bolth are projectiles...

    this would replace slot 3 givent them

    bite/spikes/sporeumbra/primal

    and we could further improve the lerk with dropping primal all together

    give them lerk flack spike 8spikes that spread out in a circle (much like a shotgun formation)

    bite/spike/sporeumbra/flackspike

    and lets fix the armor while were at it, 125 - 25 is rediculous

    100 - 60 is more reasonable

    I've only ever seen primal scream used for one thing, and that's opening the comm chair quicker.

    Ya I mean shotguns down Skulks with no Prob think what will happens to lerks without spikes+ Lerks were a really good defense against shotgun rushes as well as support weapons if u guys have ever heard of working as a team. THe skulks attack and the Lerk Uses supporting fire from a distance. But I guess we need another Melee attack cause the fade it not enough of a hit and run creature and either is the skulk so instead of having a diverse weapon that 3 other speices have . We should take away a support tool and add in some crappy bite. I don't care if i havne't played it yet I rember 1.04 ya it was really need how u could take a bite and fly away but i think skulks can do the same thing

    Oh, but it IS smart that marines become 100% immune to a type of alien? What's he gonna do in 2.01? Umbra them to death? Scream and make them scared? I don't see the aliens getting 'kevlar laced carapace' making them invincible to shotguns (Cheap, early game weapons, just like spore)

    Way back in the day of 1.04 everyone kept suggesting 'Gas masks' and 'HA invincible to spore', and if I remember right, EVERYONE THOUGHT IT WAS A STUPID IDEA. I still think it's a stupid idea, and if spore gets moved to hive 2 in lieu of spikes, it seriously needs to start hurting again.

    that would be stock,

    thats the closest i figure to having the same amount of armor they used to have, with 1.04 style guns

    that would be the armor boost they would need. lessend hp some to compensate

    Oh yes, and one more thing with the HA spores: When an HA train comes, spikes take forever to kill a marine, spit won't do jack, and o chambers are useless. What's left? The lackluster time-waste acid-rocket? And spore which they're immune to.

    lerk gangs with spikes own HA's in large rooms....in NO CASE should lerks own a buncha heavy armors with spores....that would be too easy of a counter....you already have stomp and devour what the hell more do you want.....dude that's why they changed it in the first place...i think your wrong and guess what the rest of the NS team thinks ur wrong too that's why they changed it in the first place...ur a couple of patches behind buddy

    And I think 'ur' grammar is a couple grades short High School.

    Anyway, I'm just going to keep pointing to shotgun and rubbing that in the face of your 'too easy to counter' crap. The shotgun is 10 res and kills in onos in less then a clip. Spores cost 3x as much and the lerk is about 10x weaker then a marine.

    oohh that's right, I keep forgetting about the huge, weak, slow, 160 res counter. Let's just pretend that these HA marines have HMGs.

    Do you know how quickly an onos dies to HMGs? Even with stomp, it takes less then a couple seconds.

    How do I know? I fell out of a vent, right in front of an onos, in HA with an HMG. Alone. I gunned that puppy down. I had to be about 5' away from him. Furthermore, stomp is A) Jumpable, B) Height-restricted. Just find a railing to jump on and you're pretty much safe from stomp. Finally, the reason stomp ownes marines is because they like traveling in neat little lines, making one stomp neutralize them all. I'm sorry you suck at playing a marine, but my god, learn some skill before you come telling <b>me</b> of all people that I don't know how to play.


    Oh let's look at the number of things marines have to counter structures:

    O chamber - LMGs just need to hide behind an obstacle and can gun it down without being hit. Shotguns can down the O chamber before it can fire more then a few spikes. Grenade launcher. SIEGE.

    Hive - Shotguns, grenade launcher, siege.

    Onos - Shotgun, grenade launcher, HMG, jetpack.

    Fade - Shotgun, grenade launcher, HMG.

    Lerk - Pistol, LMG, grenade launcher, HA.

    Skulk / Gorge - Pistol, Shotgun, LMG, anything really.

    Huh, seems to me that marines have MORE then a couple counters to every alien. Hmm it looks to me that some weapons actually perform MULTIPLE COUNTERS.

    No offence tool, but the game isnt unballenced because of onos....


    in a 6vs6 scrim rairly will you see an onos.

    its all fade

    scrim == go fade if your fades die marines win, if your fades live to kill their base, aliens win....

    only thing is more often then not aliens have more fades on the way then marines can get jetpacks.

    you will rairly see HA, or Onos in a scrim, if you do... a more tallented clan could just own them all anyway

    I'm not even gonna say much because this is gonna go nowhere....look at the standings...and you honestly tell me aliens need more empowerment...if you do your crazy aliens are winning constantly....Also tell me why they made HA's spore proof to begin with....are you saying the NS team was wrong and they didn't make a better decision then you would have?

    Well I dont think we should make the rines any weaker than they already are. HA's can still be killed by a good lerk using umbra + spikes as well as a few skulks. I think its a good idea to make the Lerk a ranged attack, so my opinion is 1) bite (fairly weak, 50ish) 2) spikes 3) umbra/spores (good idea on that one) 4) shotgun spikes (nother good one), and keep the lerks armor where it is, as well as speed. I can do fairly well close up with just spikes, if I have some backup anyway.

    YES! maybe that server will switch the weapon rotation back to 2.0X...

    Then again thats impossible if they totally took out spores (unlikely)
