One little thought I had, how about having the spore cloud do damage to HEAVY ARMOR???

There is no reason why this couldnt happen. Think of how much more useful lerks could be. Right now lerks
are pretty much the target of the rest of the kharra team browbeating their teamate who went LERK when he could have
made some chambers or something.

spores should corrode HA armor, so it has a use with the bite/spikes/umbra/spores format.
that way it would be really useful, lerks take armor out, and the rest finish the job...

Combine Spores and Umbra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just make umbra do a little bit of damage!!!

hey... thats one vote for removing spikes completely. but thats not our idea, its far better... just listen again

i guess you didn't read the thread at all. i proposed perching while holding +duck. aaron proposed switching instantly to spikes as slot1 weapon while holding +duck. this enables you to bite while flying and to spike while hanging on the ceiling, sitting on the ground or while sticking like glue to a wall. you are no sitting duck while holding +duck. you can walk over the ground, walk along the wall or even +duck while flying and spike while flying. this requires certainly a little bit of skill, but shouldn't be to difficult. you would have a much more versatile lerk than before.

either make them sitting ducks or remove spikes altogether - which one do you want?

While making it when perched might be good, the fact you can just toggle a weapon by crouching is just like giving it an additional weapon. I don't know if it would be ok'ed.

thats the problem. i guess it will be treated like a "secondary firemode" and thus i becomes difficult with getting it past the devs official statement. but it would make everyone happy, would improve gameplay, offer great versatility, is only logical concerning a skulk moving on walls and a "bird" not (i mean he was surely the first one that could climp up stuff and learned to fly while falling down a zillion times ) and further more: we all love it!

I'm no master at using lerk bite but I can see why it's taken back in the beta, it sure does attacking JPers easier, and it does make sense that the lerk should be the one to ambush the jetpackers since it's a flying animal... air-to-air combat...
Otherwise OC is the only alternative thing against JPers in my opinion... but you need loads of them...

Lerks beeing able to stick to the walls or ceilings would be a very nice thing indeed, but I don't know if I agree with the switching weapon thing, wouldn't it become confusing? You sit on the wall, see a JPer and decide to just fly straight into him... I wouldn't want to struggle for the right weapon slot in that moment... but that's just my opinion...
But bite/spike or spike/bite doesn't matter for me...

Oh another thing... I'd like to see the adrenaline usage taken away for flight, I mean, lerks are flying creatures, that's how they move, a bird or bat doesn't exactly sit down every 60 seconds and catch their breath... could be that this would be a little too powerful but it would make sense... wouldn't it? And I know that this maybe would give the lerks a big advantage against JPers but then again... humans weren't meant to fly...

Suggestions, ideas...?

I think lerk should remain the way it is now, except with bite as a secondary option.

Something along the lines of fly....glide....target marine...press duck and launch yourself at the marine at leap speed and attach to his shoulders and start munching away. The marine wouldn't be able to fire and only teamates could kill the lerk, or shoot it to make it dislodge.

Other than that Spumbra all the way.

in tactical killing academy server they have lerk bite subbed in with spikes so weapon slot 1 has bite AND spikes, its pretty damn coll if u ask me, id enjoy it if it was like that even tho with fastswitch its a pain to get which weapon u want right away

Well Spumbra:

1. Most people usually spam Spores and Umbra together anyway
2. The weapon won't become totally redundant when HAs come on the scene (always been a stupid idea if you ask me).
3. It will free a slot up for Bite and be a good 2 hive weapon. Bite > Spike > Spumbra > PS.
4. It's a lot easier to use than implementing the duck/wall cling idea
5. It has a groovy name everybody loves

Wouldn't that break NS' smoothness a bit? Having EVERY alien have 4 weapons makes the mod feel a lot more professional. If one hade 5, it would feel thrown together.

Of course I guess you can do that anyway. If people really want their spikes.
