We all want more stories...Try to bring yourself under control, maybe some anger management classes are in order?
• GwahirGwahir Join Date: 2002-04-24 Member: 513Members, Constellation
"Who needs anger management?" says Gwahir over a bottle of beer.

Stories would be good, but those take time. Time I would rather see going towards playtesting, bug fixing and map making..w00t! Get that work done or I will take your coookies!

50th post...go me...
• GwahirGwahir Join Date: 2002-04-24 Member: 513Members, Constellation
well... there's also the fact that playtests aren't on every second... so the playtesters either get on with their normal lives, or post here.

• LongtoothLongtooth Join Date: 2002-07-02 Member: 863Members
I live in Arizona. As for the jock comment all I have to respond with is. Shut up nerd. Now I know thats harsh but...I am just kidding. I don't like you sterotypers, no one is a jock and no one is a skater and no one is a nerd we are all just us and nothing more.

I'm a skater!

Actually, I'm a snowboarder, a Princeton student, and a swing dancer, who happens to really enjoy wearing large, loud pants, skater shoes (they fit my feet well), and entertaining t-shirts and/or hawaiian shirts. Oh, and I have a goatee.

I'm a wallflower!

I hang with anyone and everyone and don't really fit in anywhere. I can beat nerds at comp games and hack basic things. I Dress preppy and get good grades. I play sports almost every week with the jocks. I am involved in weird social games with the drama club (my GF is one). I modify cars to make under 14 second quarter miles. I play guitar. I draw. And like all of you, I get pants-faced when the opportunity arises.

I skate, play football, play computers, and am a Marine Devil Pup. As for your damn flower shirts coil, you better be living in California near the shore . As for the pants, when you say loud do you mean colorful?

I go rock climbing, abseiling and pretty much anything else that involved dangling over a cliff. And I ride cross country push-biking occasionally. Very fun.

There was this one time this guy kept crashing at every turn in this downhill path. Every corner he would fall off spectacularly in a cloud of dust. This happened three times before we had a look at his bike. It turned out that he had twisted his handlebars around 180 degrees so whenever he turned right, it locked the back brakes. We nearly... soiled ourself laughing when we found out.

Oh yes, I like computers too.

I believe the Level 1 is much faster than the Level 5 so it should have no problems running in the direction that the Level 5 is running, stopping occasionally so as to not overshoot. Using this method it (the Level 1) could stay on indefinitely.

Me, I run track, watercolor paint and draw, am a frisbee fanatic, chill at the beach when I can, and of course, Devote a large chunk of my time to reading and answering posts as well as testing NS. Sometimes, I try a tad too hard when it comes to running (which is my only "sport"). Humbaba's story from track last year: Well, or before track. I run because of NS. I fear Bob, and I want to be sure my body is in top form so I can GET AWAY!!!! when he comes after me! and he is coming!! uh . .yeah. SO I was training during the winter and, on one fateful evening, on the indoor track, I ran one mile . . .I looked at my watch "5:52" Yay! my first under 6 minute mile! And I was pacing myself too. I kept running, pushing it. Thump thump thump. one mile later "13.20". At this point, I am high on endorphines and chugging to my MP3 player's music. I get through with mile 3 at "22" even. I kept going and going that night, and ultimately ran 6 miles in 50 minutes (though the last mile was about 12 minutes). I leave the club and step out into a snowstorm and my muscles, overworked and understretched, tighten up. I lose my grip on the ground, slip and a fall at the curb. My MP3 player is smashed in my pocket and I screw up my leg for track season. I had pulled my quad and it didn't go back to normal until 2 weeks into track season. Needless to say, by then I was out of shape, and ran poorly until later on in the season.
The lesson: Don't over do it! Even if you are paranoid that bob is going to stalk you at night and you feel you must be able to run away. and after a long winded flight from Bob, be sure to stretch! Or, you could forget running and buy a motorcycle.
I really don't believe in labeling people. I think we all should be as diverse and unique as we can. I will say this, the more things you try, the more accepting you will be of others. The more accepting you are, the more people will be accepting of you. SO diversify, and have confidence.
Now enough my Ranting and inane offtopicitude. We need some stories. I guess I got a little vignette.

I was playing as a level 2 on NS_Caged, and in it, there is a place that WAS named "Somewhere over the rainbow", though I hear the name has since changed. It consists of a a boxed in catwalk, with a metal grate, partially open, along the ceiling. Running underneath the catwalk perpendicular to it, is a row of thick pipes. Basically, its a confusing dark mess of level over level ness full of sneaky ambush spots. I had been a lvl 1 and had evolved to lvl 2 on the pipes with the intention of placing turrets and structures reasonable immune to knifing and grenades (as they might bounce out or roll past).
I plopped down a few defensive chambers for healing, a single movement chamber, and coated the rest of the fat pipe with turrets. I crawled out from under the catwalk and sprayed web over the ladder leading down the catwalk, hoping to catch some mariens in a deadly crossfire of turrets as they clung helplessly. I heard the telltale clinking sound of marine ammo jangling against their belts, and hid under the catwalk. The catwalk has windows, so the mariens could see some of the turrets and opened fire. One bright marine took the bait and climbed down the ladder. Half way down, the musical sound of wrapping cellophane filled my ears. I spewed spit at him as my turrets tore him to pieces. Waddlign back under the catwalk, I surveyed my decimated turrets, but the defensive chamber and the turrets concealed under the catwalk were still intact.
I evolved to a lvl 1 and crawled up the wall, onto the grated roof of the catwalk, and in through the hanging roof section. Chomping wildly and whirlign around, I bit a marine, but no cigar. I was brutally grazed by a shotgun wound and shot off through the window of the catwalk. I nursed my wounds beneath it in my little grotto by the defense chamber. Within 30 more seconds of all this, help arrived. A fellow alien flyer and lvl 1 arrived and made short work of the remaining marines in the catwalk, with the help of my concealed defense chamber.

Hmmm... Sugoi yo!

Accursed carrot and Stick tactics! At this point the NS team could release Counter-Strike with the NAME Natural Selection and millions would download it.

Hype is such a good marketing tactic.... Too bad it's somewhat useless with mods. -_-;;

That would happen, but you forgot the part about an angry mob wrending the NS team limb from limb after.

True, true. BUT, they would still download it.

It's like Pokèmon a few years back, or Teenage mutant Ninja turtles in the 80's.

A name goes a long way, even if it's crap. ^^ (Not saying that NS is crap mind you&#33

Take http://www.zombo.com for instance! you can do anything at that site! =O

Tomorrow I will have copied nearly all of the stories into the first post (for ease of reading) and created a downloadable DOC for even easier reading

But, it is 3am, and I must get up in 5 hours to work!

How can it NOT? Storys are actually better than Screenshots now... The Screenshots hath become a bit redundant lately (as stated by another forum goer. ^^).

Really, now it's just a waiting game that can be until t'morrow or 30 years from now.

Least it is'nt as secretive as Duke Nukem Forever... If that game even still exists...

Its like being without water in the middle of a desert with it constantly being noon, with a glass of ice water only inches away from your grasp. @_@ But on the up-side (I think) The NS team went into Media-Blackout mode.

Though I question their prioritys in their 'Progress update'. =\

Hey scythe have you ever been rock climbing in the garden of the gods? Its in Colorado Springs, that place is amazing, there are at least 30 different rock spires to climb and about 20 paths to climb each of them.

Here's yet another tale. We were playing Tanith and I was a marine. We easily blew though the aliens like a hot knife though butter and destroyed their hive. Only one last alien remained. We were haughty so we did not hunt down this last alien, and instead built a new and better base by the hive. Just then, a wing of flyers came in! I looked at the scoreboard and discovered they all respawned! They must have had another hive. They did do well, however we drove them off. But we never regain our thunder and lost.
• LongtoothLongtooth Join Date: 2002-07-02 Member: 863Members
Right when the flyer wing came in it should have started playing "Flight of the Valkyries" now that would have been dramatic.
