yeah bro, i also think it would be a good idea to improve ns2's tickrate of 30

anyway looks neat. hopefully walljumping gets replaced with bunnyhopping though.

Ew. So that everyone can look like ###### idiots jumping up and down just to move faster?

But hey.. mods are mods and if you want a true NS1 experience in NS2 I guess it makes sense. I just always thought it looked soooo stupid. Besides, isn't it technically glitching the system? I thought bhoping only happened because of issues in the engine that accidentally allowed it.

I would love to play this. Is it just private testing or is there a server running it up somewhere?

Did I say they didn't? No. And if you're implying that since walljumping looks stupid that means bhopping is somehow acceptable or less ridiculous? Uh.. no.

It's ONLY skulks doing the walljump in NS2 and it makes sense that they would be able to at least do the motion (seeing how they're fast, mobile creatures with wall clinging and a leap ability). But humans jumping up and down as their main mode of movement... yeah... absolutely retarded. You'd have to be blind to think otherwise.

Have you seen how a marine behaves during melee-combat with a skulk in NS2? Hint: "###### idiots jumping up and down".

And that has ANYTHING to do with bunnyhopping vs walljump? If you just want to say jumping in a completely unrelated situation looks stupid as an answer to my statement that *bunnyhopping* is ridiculous, then go the hell away because it's irrelevant. MOVEMENT should not be jump based for a human. How is that a hard concept to understand?

Bunnyhopping was for everyone, and I meant it as a general term. Maybe I shouldn't assume that's what they meant, but bunnyhopping was still a ridiculous movement method as it wasn't even an intended gameplay mechanic as far as I know.

Good for you.. you saw me edit a post before any replies were made. Didn't have my wording how I wanted or my thoughts properly organized (never do.. hence why I always end up editing every post 100 times)

Also, if the intention is to make NS1 in NS2, bhopping WOULD be for everyone. That was my logic at least.
  • playerplayer Join Date: 2010-09-12 Member: 73982Members
Marines had their bunnyhopping curtailed post-1.04.
  • sickboysickboy Join Date: 2003-09-13 Member: 20804Members, Constellation
But not removed entirely, correct? If it was, I still always saw people doing it in every game I played (or trying, at least). Should have been completely squashed (if at all possible.. again, I was under the impression it was more of an engine issue) as it was just a very silly mechanic.
  • playerplayer Join Date: 2010-09-12 Member: 73982Members
A slow-down upon landing can't by any stretch still be called bunnyhopping, it still allowed quite a bit of free-flowing movement though, which was good. Marines in NS2 are pathetic meatsacks.

The engine-glitch argument doesn't even warrant a serious response anymore, go read of one of the (many) older threads.

I guess sickboy means the duck jump and marginal height difference that allowed you to jump again. Marines lost bunnyhoppping after 1.04 as player pointed out.

Now that you've relase changelog of some kind it looks really awesome. If the mod is ready for large scale testing exertus would gladly play a showmatch with this mod against any team to highlight the changes. Really looking forward what else you can do. :)

Cant wait to try it. A couple question though, are there plans to make the shade cloak everything friendly structures and players in a fixed radius? Also a cloak where you can slowly move? And any plans for redemption, scent of fear, or celerity?

Shades currently passively cloak themselves, and offer sof around them. I wasnt a big fan of SC cloak around the structure as it allowed full speed movement while cloaked. Redemption i do not really plan to make, as it was a frustrating upgrade to use due to the randomness about it. Cloaking is also already in as camo, which you need to be walking/still.

Would it be possible to do a direct port or as close as possible then come up with changes as a community?

Why do you oppose modding? I could understand if you didn't want to split the playerbase, but you told people to go back to ns1 so that doesn't help that case.

How do you plan on addressing the lack of scaling that was present in NS1?
With NS being balanced around 6v6, and unbalanced for everything else, it is quite the claim to make that this would be more balanced than NS2. (The reason, i take it, for why you are making the mod)
  • playerplayer Join Date: 2010-09-12 Member: 73982Members
NS2c could be contrued as NS2competitive, making scaling-issues moot.
