  I know #156 would be interest and even could host the problem is scheduling. We'd certainly be able to host a 5v5 on west and have 2 spots in spectate for ns2hd to record and broadcast or w/e.

  I'm interested in this as well, I was taking preliminary steps to organize it a while ago but I thought i'd wait till the game stabilized a little more. Now seems like a decent time.

  It's nice that you guys want to keep community up and there isn't anything bad. But why 5v5 ? NS1 it was 6v6 and that worked well.
  Now you got 1 commander in marines and 4 field players.. Let me know if it tested to be better than six.

  Thank You. And about 5v5, because we are not so many players on NS2, I through it was more easier to make a 5v5 team than 6v6 team.

  How would it even be played. Like say best out of 3? Cause u play where team a is on human and team b on alien then you switch for the next game and if its 1 - 1 then you do another. So someone from one of the teams will go to random and which ever team he goes to is the team that his team will play on. Because people could say one side is oped and not fair. I know this is just for fun but i was just wondering on the format and rules and so on. I believe best of 3 could be hell if the games last forever tho.

  How many maps are there in ns2? -> 2 maps, each team plays both sides.

  Format will depend of how many we are and about rules, I haven't think about it a lot except something like limit hydras, no com abuse ...

  I am down for a scrim, 5v5 on summit might be a long game so tram or rockdown should be the choice. We have had a few 2 + hour games since 177 came out.

  I'd be interested, but I'd like to see some rules/better organization before I signed on to anything.
  
  Also, besides #156, are there any other active clans in NS2? Would this tournament just be #156 vs. random pubbers?

  I think we might be the only clan ATM so we could deal with this in two ways:
  
  1) Get 10 players and just mix us all up
  
  2) #156 vs. a pug team
  
  To be honest as a clan we haven't done any practiced games/developed strategies. We're familiar with each other though. I'd be more than happy to mix it up, but I don't think any of us are so OP that it would be a domination.
  
  I'll say though that I really have no preference towards what goes on--just want to get some good NS2 play in.
  
  Here are some rules that I think would work out well:
  
  Best 2 out of 3 games, randomized who is marines/aliens first and then alternating with another random draw for game 3 if it comes to a 1-1 series.
  
  I don't see much sense in having a hydra/turret cap just because there is no real efficient way (to my knowledge) of keeping track of this sort of information that would be simple for the aliens and not detract from their ability to focus their attention on the game.
  
  No intentional exploits of in-game bugs.
  
  I can't really think of any other rules that would need to be addressed right now but it is quite late. I'm not in favor of rules that change gameplay too drastically (no bunnyhopping, etc) but are complained about from time to time.
  
  If there's a place where good scrim guidelines could be established it seems like this would be it; so I'd be interested to hear your input Bob.

  Depending a bit on what you want to achieve with the tournament the 6 vs 6 might be worth considering.
  
  For pure instant fun purposes it's all the same - if 5 v 5 works the best, by all means go for it.
  
  If you're thinking to have more tournaments later on and possibly develop some kind of regular tournament setting, I'd probably go for 6 vs 6 at some point sooner or later. While it's in no way clear how NS2 plays out, I think the 6 vs 6 for organised play is the best guess we've got at this point. It was the standard in NS1 and in general I think the commander + 5 players on the field sounds quite a lot more versatile and flexible than having just 4 players on the field.
  
  It's not a big thing either way though, just some food for thought.

  This could be a great way of starting to get NS2 noticed. Even though it will be rough at first, organised tournaments will lend it a serious air of credibility.
  
  If you do want me to cast, I'd just need solid advance warning of which day I need to wake up early/stay up late on (US Friday nights please! Hahah!). I was thinking I would dual perspective record - One view spectator, one view minimap only, then combine them in 'commentary' view.
