    How and where can I change the video settings outside of ns2?

    I only see a blurry pixel mess where fonts are supposed to be and most walls lack textures, probably due to low video memory.

    Same for me at the first loading, and fire the rifle. Just change resolution from High to medium, that's work for me.

    Thanks for the help man, but unfortunately, mine doesn't even get there. Game starts in a window and stays black, initializing appears upper left for a bit. Music begins to play and error pops up.

    Unable to initialize network services. Please check that the steam client is running locally.

    I saw this error earlier, any fixes?

    edit: Run as administrator did the trick

    I bet the alpha is coming out next week, otherwise the community will make they own before devs lol

    IF the engine test doesn't start for you,
    try to lower the video settings manually in the options.xml

    I tried this
    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--><display>
                <fullscreen>true</fullscreen>
                <quality>1</quality>
                <y-resolution>768</y-resolution>
                <x-resolution>1024</x-resolution>
            </display><!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

    and got it working on:
    A64 3000+
    Radeon x700
    Win2k

    Sorry, but I refuse to use this "GetSatisfaction" site because it has a horrible useability. From my point of view, setting up a nice bug/issue tracker like Trac or Redmine on your own would have been a lot better. Last but not least because you would have all community related things in-house.

    However, I have a small Rant about the Lightning/Shadow LOD. In overall it looks pretty good, but in distance, dark spots become pretty bright and change into dark/shadow casted area as soon as you move near to it. I would say it requires quite some tweaking, also the fade-in/out distance is way too short.

    There're also some texture/edge glitches but i'll be sure that other people willspam you with reports about it :)

    And another interesting topic <b>@Flayra and/or Max</b>:

    I guess you're using this (http://tulrich.com/geekstuff/gameswf.html) GameSWF library? Did you work/patch it on your own? And could you might give some information about the workflow/toolset/things-to-know about using this library?

    Sadly i just stuck the skulk view model onto the rifle.

    But if you want change line 19 of Rifle.lua to:

    Rifle.viewModelName = "models/alien/skulk/skulk_view.model"//"models/marine/rifle/rifle_view.model"

    it doesnt look like you get animations for it. so sounds but i could be wrong on that front.

    I just upped my clip capacity to 500. Insta-HMG! Who needs reloading?

    Just make sure you up the "bullets in reserve" because there IS an ammo limit, the default is 1000. I ran out after two clips lol.

    I'm pretty excited about this, I'm running at an average 30-50 FPS at 1680x1050 with visual detail set to high. That's not much worse than I run L4D2 at.

    Specs:
    Windows Vista Ultimate - 64bit
    GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3P
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - 2.83GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT - 512MB
    G.SKILL 8GB DDR3-1333 RAM

    I was getting about 60+ frames per second on average, but dipped to 23 at one point when looking in a certain direction. That was on high @ 1680x1050.

    ATI Radeon HD5770
    4gb Ram

    Revising my earlier comment of bug free,

    did anyone else have the problem they couldn't run it full screen? I ticked and unticked the windowed option before and during the game to no effect.

    You have to restart the game.

    All I get is what appears to be the main menu, with some of the graphics missing/messed up. Let's see if I can get this attached correctly:

    EDIT:
    lets try this again:

    yep lowering detail to medium allowed me to load the game. no crouch, reverse mouse hairs or alternate weapons, kinda low fps but really cool :).

    Changed my quality to "1", and it works. For what it's worth, it appears that in the options.xml file,
    <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain' style='height:200px;white-space:pre;overflow:auto'> <display>
    <fullscreen>true</fullscreen>
    <quality>1</quality>
    <y-resolution>768</y-resolution>
    <x-resolution>1024</x-resolution>
    </display>
    </div>

    <quality> is either:
    0: ridiculously awful
    1: medium
    2: high

    Ran great! I have to test the network play, but overall very smooth. A few graphical bugs and no crouching. Great work.
