To Flay: Skulk Bite Removal And How To Stop It

i was wondering how does stopping it work? i've met lots of people in clans that use it...in my clan there's 2..i've talked them out of it by saying that you said that you consider it a cheat..but the others? you can't block console cause then rcon goes away, so how did/are you going to fix this?

What's this? Removing the skulk bite weapon? Or something else?
I believe this is an actual variable in the HL engine, when set dosn't render the players v_ models. Some people find this useful, personally I feel silly shooting something out of thin air. It can increase FPS, but if you have that crappy of a system that it makes a big difference, well <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I don't think it was ever a problem up until now, since the skulk's and lerk's bite animation covers your screen for about 1/1000th of a second. I mean, good god, think of all the things that could happen in that time! Its an eternity!
Thats just newbisim, or self-elitisim. If you want it off, that fine, I don't consider it a exploit or cheat. I've gotten so I don't even notice the bite animation anymore, and I love the look of the teeth. It just takes practice and getting used to a different style of play.
Granted, when your typical newb first jumps into the game, and plays skulk, their probably going to have a bit of a row trying to accurately hit a TSA every time. Removing the bite animation is just the easy way out, you wuss <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> Most of the weapons and play styles in NS are not "Jump in and play", they all take time to learn and master. A bit of a strike against NS I suppose, but I think it makes the game 10X better for it.

I wish people could learn how to deal with that. I mean it's only closed for like a 1/2 second. It's not much of a distraction at all. I can still take out 2+ guys in a row as a skulk and I did so on a game last night where I was aliens first and we won, then became marines and won as marines hehe. I was like the "veteran" of the server. The veteran from the war movie where his team are just full of recruits. Raked up some good kills, only died like 3-5 times (by a fades and skulks), but at the end I was like "We took al 3 hives already?"
Anyways..back on course. It's not a problem, I like it..looks cool..feels "odd" at times by the fact that u are looking OUT or a creatures mouth lol.
But just try your best to deal with it.

if you want this fixed you must also enforce consistency of all models

Im sure flayra can think of something if he deems this is worth the effort.
Because of where and how I usually play, I just run in wild circles and figure 8s avoiding enemy fire while biting constantly. I don't kill a marine every two bites, but I know that if I tried to figure out where my target was for even a fraction of a second they'ld train their guns on me and I'ld be dead anyway.

But AFAIK, using custom models would be a far better solution anyway (can remove all annoying bits, while retaining the useful stuff you'd lose with r_draw...), so I don't see why you'd bother to remove this.
Another thing... You lose hivesight, energy and resource meters, current active hives, and a tooltips with models disabled... though that can be very helpful when you are blinded by 50 blips and can't see a damn thing when you're trying to do some accurate long-range attacks.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't play without it....why....because it's COOL! The dude even picks his teeth! How badass is THAT?! When the Hive says "Resource Tower Under Attack", you can either GUESS where it is, or KNOW where it is, take your pick.
Personally, if some igmo wants to cripple his ability to play, I say let the re-re shoot himself in the foot. I'll be parasited and he STILL won't see me creepin in the shadows. Fine by me.

When you have 2 hives, use leap+bite midair combo.... no scripting, scripts suck you cant even turn in mid air and the bite its way too fast for the leap, usually with leap+bite scripts, you miss the bite, my suggestion is, aim for the marine, leap, change to bite, when you are in direct contact with marine armor CHOMP then leap away again, and repeat process, another good way of doing it is leapin from the corridor, chompin in air, leapin into ceiling and droping on marine´s head, and eating all his brain... mwhahahah =D
well once its hardcoded into the game, u won't be able to switch it on.
plus i think the skulk bite model should be locked, i don't see many legal ways of changing it...

exactly ... when people begin to use it in this way is when it becomes a "true" exploit, it isn't being removed to increase FPS or anything like that, it is being removed purely to make it easier to bite people
