it needs those lerkspikes things on the side of its face to show its relation to other aliens, infestation, and a bit more alienish head. i know you might not like it, i dont either. but i think if its done correctly, it can look really good, and we all know you have the capability to do it correctly.
Seriously, That Fade looks amazing. Man that would hurt my PC hard though. I'd like to see some infestation on him. Then I know that I can't sleep at night once I saw him.
jebus I can't wait to gun this thing down with a lvl3 hmg <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif' /><!--endemo-->
not really anything new but it shows slightly bigger feet.
now for a logical reason to leave out the ugly-**** spikes off this beautiful creature's head... How is it supposed to eat of everything gets stuck on its spikes?!?!?!
keep in mind he is not posed yet and he isn't finished (obviosly)
I recently obtained a copy of zbrush and I'm waiting to get a smaller tablet that actually fits on my desk... 12" x 18" = bad, mkay? That could take weeks and I don't know if I'm willing to finish this guy without zbrush... in the mean time i guess i might make basemesh and acid rocket thinger.

Out of curiosity (though you've probably said this elsewhere in the thread) which 3D proggy are you modelling this guy in? Also, is it done with polys/subdivisions or some other method?
Ooh, and could you post a wireframe view? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Thanks everybody who understands that this is my design... Nobody is forcing you to use it. Hell, it's not even close to being in a game yet.
Maus - yep zbrush's UI can be pretty confusing... Been reading the practical guide pdf and watching some modelling vids. I modelled this guy in Modo... a too-expensive modelling app. Got me a 1-year student license but now I dunno if I can work without it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Poly by poly w/ subd. Oh my god another reason to fear fades <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> Keep it up and we'll have a awesome model!

Yep... modo 1 yr student license for $100 or 150 depending on your GPA.

It's a great program I came from it myself, but it's not useful to know, just get maya, or Gmax if you want something free. Or just get Milkshape and buy it it's only 25 USD and worth it.
MS3d is great to try out modelling if you have never played with it before. I've been using it for 2 years now, only things I want in it are: 1) Fix the stupid autosmoothing or make a plugin to fix it and 2) add some type of cutting tool, poly by poly sucks after awhile <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Best model on this forums <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> It's a fade and i like it very much. Textures/Skin anyone?
Get it meshed before you asked for skins from anyone. Someone go PM cookie to UVW unwrap, and when he tells you he can't do player models... Call his bluff.
I'm 90% sure this won't be released for NS and considering I can find someone to rig and animate 90% sure it will be released for NS:S.
To clarify for some people that don't get this... This is a highpoly reference model to generate a normal map for a lowpoly equivalent. I'm currently modelling the lowpoly and after that is UVed (by me) I will texture it.
I've got a question for anybody that knows about Source... Can I get around the stupid reflection ****? I don't want reflections I want good ol' specularity (w/ colored maps preferably.)

~$700, or around ~$100 if you're a student
