    it needs those lerkspikes things on the side of its face to show its relation to other aliens, infestation, and a bit more alienish head. i know you might not like it, i dont either. but i think if its done correctly, it can look really good, and we all know you have the capability to do it correctly.

    Seriously, That Fade looks amazing. Man that would hurt my PC hard though. I'd like to see some infestation on him. Then I know that I can't sleep at night once I saw him.

    jebus I can't wait to gun this thing down with a lvl3 hmg <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    not really anything new but it shows slightly bigger feet.

    now for a logical reason to leave out the ugly-**** spikes off this beautiful creature's head... How is it supposed to eat of everything gets stuck on its spikes?!?!?!

    keep in mind he is not posed yet and he isn't finished (obviosly)

    I recently obtained a copy of zbrush and I'm waiting to get a smaller tablet that actually fits on my desk... 12" x 18" = bad, mkay? That could take weeks and I don't know if I'm willing to finish this guy without zbrush... in the mean time i guess i might make basemesh and acid rocket thinger.

    I was just about to ask if you have zbrush. Be warned though, if you haven't used it before it takes a while to get used to. It's great fun to play with though.

    Out of curiosity (though you've probably said this elsewhere in the thread) which 3D proggy are you modelling this guy in? Also, is it done with polys/subdivisions or some other method?

    Ooh, and could you post a wireframe view? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    why don't you join the NS team, there asking for people so they can port NS to the HL2 engine, this would be nice in NS: S as the fade.
  • frostymoosefrostymoose Join Date: 2003-09-12 Member: 20799Members
    Thanks everybody who understands that this is my design... Nobody is forcing you to use it. Hell, it's not even close to being in a game yet.

    Maus - yep zbrush's UI can be pretty confusing... Been reading the practical guide pdf and watching some modelling vids. I modelled this guy in Modo... a too-expensive modelling app. Got me a 1-year student license but now I dunno if I can work without it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Poly by poly w/ subd. Wires? Your wish is my command.

    <a href='http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v154/frostymoose/Fadewires.jpg' target='_blank'>Wires</a>

    Red - It's a possiblity.

    if you can understand blender then more power to you. If not i recommend wings 3d (www.wings3d.com) Only allows bow-modelling but its very powerful for what it does and being free and all.

    Yep... modo 1 yr student license for $100 or 150 depending on your GPA.

    lol please don't. It's a great program I came from it myself, but it's not useful to know, just get maya, or Gmax if you want something free. Or just get Milkshape and buy it it's only 25 USD and worth it.
  • BulletHeadBulletHead Join Date: 2004-07-22 Member: 30049Members
    I might just mail you my copy of 3dSmax or Maya.. hell... I can't do anything with um 0o;

    MS3d is great to try out modelling if you have never played with it before. I've been using it for 2 years now, only things I want in it are: 1) Fix the stupid autosmoothing or make a plugin to fix it and 2) add some type of cutting tool, poly by poly sucks after awhile <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    It's a fade and i like it very much.
    Textures/Skin anyone?
  • CatCopCatCop Join Date: 2003-08-28 Member: 20296Members, Constellation
    Get it meshed before you asked for skins from anyone.
    Someone go PM cookie to UVW unwrap, and when he tells you he can't do player models... Call his bluff.

    I'm 90% sure this won't be released for NS and considering I can find someone to rig and animate 90% sure it will be released for NS:S.

    To clarify for some people that don't get this... This is a highpoly reference model to generate a normal map for a lowpoly equivalent. I'm currently modelling the lowpoly and after that is UVed (by me) I will texture it.

    I've got a question for anybody that knows about Source... Can I get around the stupid reflection ****? I don't want reflections I want good ol' specularity (w/ colored maps preferably.)
  • Dark_SoulDark_Soul Hive King Join Date: 2003-11-11 Member: 22527Members
    i hope so, that reflection is totally crap, I think it's what ruins the Doom3 engine based games imo

    what reflection are we talking about?
