All rares now come in red boxes, just thought everyone should know that.
edit: And apparently it's been that way since Ep 2. It's too bad all of the current gen consoles suck so much that I don't own any of them, or this message could've been avoided.
Mmm if it's possible to trade in the Heart of Poumn for points, then maybe it's possible to give away a Soul Eater for points?
And Mags do attack. You just need to get your Photon Gauge full then use their Photon Blasts. They have to be at least level 10 to use one though =X And to use your Photon Blasts when the gauge is full, hit your control swap key (CTRL on keyboard) and press the corresponding button.
I have certain issues with that though. I believe you can ask Seph on details about that XD
They're your floating stat raising support buddies. You feed them items, they level up and raise your stats. Simple stuff, neh?
Or not. Each mag has different tastes. What you're feeding one mag may be completely worthless to its evolution.
However, they also get photon blasts, which equate to powerful techniques. Whenever you get hit or hit an enemy, your mag charges photon energy. When it has 100, you can do a photon blast. Hit your action key shift button (defaults to CTRL) and your photon blasts will be there. Just hit the corresponding button and you're set, casting your photon blast.
As for its stats, here's what they are.
The IQ is the mag's intelligence. It affects how often it'll help you by casting useful spells (like resta, reverser, shifta/deband in boss fights, invincibility when you get a photon blast, etc.) It's also responsible for how effective these helpful little skills are, and for how long they last. Max of 200.
Sync is how simply how fast it'll gain photon energy. Max of 120%
IQ and sync can be raised once a mag reaches its max level (200), so it's not really that important to worry yourself with it too much until then.
DEF raises your defense stat (DFP) POW raises your attack strength (ATP) DEX raises your accuracy (ATA) MIND raises your magical prowess (MST)
The real fun comes into photon linking and donating/boosting. If two people have a full photon charge, they can link they photon attacks, making them more powerful. You both have to cast your photon charges within the short chargeup time (you have a few seconds when you first hear the photon blast prep sound to use it) If you've linked successfully, you'll have a number next to your name, showing you where you are in the PB blast order.
Photon donating/boosting can be performed when you don't have enough energy to cast a blast of your own. When someone casts a photon blast, HAMMER your symbol chat button (defaults to end) and you'll donate some of your photon energy (10 at a time, up to a max of 30) What this will do is increase the blast's power, net you exp for the blast, and if it's a support blast, YOU get the benefits given by the PB as well as the caster (an example would be the "twins" photon blast, which gives the casta shifta and deband)
Feeding tables and pictures of mags here: <a href='http://www.ragol.co.uk/mags.shtml' target='_blank'>http://www.ragol.co.uk/mags.shtml</a>
edit: About that photon blast, you need to already have a lock on to an enemy before you cast it.
Yeah I think so. I haven't gotten very far before my DC went kaputz lol XD
And another thing regarding Mags....in PSO:BB they've pretty much changed a whole lot of things. Among these is the Mag feeding table. It's been slightly tweaked a bit from their Ep. II values so some items will work slightly, if not completely differently. And the amount you need to fill the bar increases as well. I'm pretty sure Aldaris can back this up with his mag gradually losing the amount of DEX increase from Antidotes.
What wasn't changed however, is the Section IDs that are responsible for your Mag's evolution. Curse you Whitill evolutions! Of course, I don't know if they changed the abilities of the Mags (invincibility when bar fills, etc. )
<b>EDIT :</b> We should get a Rare Mag raising project going <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Maybe get a Diwari or something <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
So how do I know what a specific MAG does? And does the form depend entirely on its stats, or will this new MAG I find transform into different things at the same stat levels as my other did?

I want to find a third mag, lol. My second one I am feeding stuff to raise it's Dex. I was feeding it Antiparalyzes, but that raises it's mind too fast, so I gave it a couple trimates to try to even that up. Have also been giving it my antidotes because that raises pow and dex, though not as well as the antiparalyze. I'm hoping to switch Mags once it gets more powerful, because my hunter is severely lacking in accuracy.
My first has a high pow rating, and it's ugly as hell. It's got a real high synchro rating, and a high IQ though.

Check that page I linked to, it'll probably help. I think that's the most accurate mag guide I've found thus far.

Actually Seph the Mag only begins changing after every 5 levels at the post-50 mark, unless they changed that =X
Me and Psyke have teh ugleh Mag. That's why I'm turning mine into an Asparas (yay) Though now I need to get another Mag. I have one in storage but I plan on building that with a large amount of DEX and quite a bit of POW....to help with the rather bad ATA Hunter classes have. Too bad the Mag will be fugleh until I turn it into a rare Mag =X Might as well be a 5/45/45/5 stats :O
Might make a game room <u>just</u> for mag feeding ingame hehe....
Rave: I have a female ranger I'm working on to make a Diwari (Section ID is Pinkal, and I also have another dummy one made which is Skyly) So I could evolve your one too.
(aka I just managed to make a Diwari <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

And finally, last announcement, although most of you already know....<b>hard mode unlocked!!!111oneone</b>
EDIT : Well that's not exactly all. There's this new quest, but it's so....<a href='http://psobb.com/community/quests/aolcup/index.html' target='_blank'>ewwww</a>....
someone needs to de-engrishify that quest page for me... I don't know exactly what they're talking about. just kill monsters, and if a certain number are killed by some deadline, everyone in the game gets those rewards?
as for the actual AOL quest, with the rappies, I rescued the mate, delivered the pretty clothes, and got the 1 rappy to write an acceptable love letter to the other... and then I got no reward. I dunno if it's cuz I just got disconnected or what, but it took me like an hour to figure it out, for nothing :o
If you kill a specified number of monsters before the set deadline, EVERYONE gets the benefits, which is exactly why everyone wants to actually beat the quest. Kill lots of stuff to get well....lots of points. Call it a 'Mindless Slaughter' quest if you will.
And in addition to this. The team with the highest amount of kills/points gained in quest will have a personalized wallpaper.
On a side-note, I beat 4-3, 4-4 and 4-5 solo. I swear all the x-2 quests were designed to be the biggest pain in the kneecaps.
Wow this game looks semi-decent. (I'm entitled to my opinion,if I'm gonna spend time downloading it. In the past,I've downloaded 1GB games that were s**t.) I now know, thanks to a screenie,it is multi. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> OMG 498MB download. I... don't understand. How do you go from not knowing what the game is to knowing enough to form an opinion on it without figuring out that it's a multiplayer game somewhere along the way? Surely the title would be a big hint.
seems a couple of people have kinda not been playing in the week I went AWOL :o
Who's all still on?
I know myself, pulse, seph, arctica, redford and 2 non-nsers; celestia and yuki (people I know from outside the community; don't be afraid to talk to them :p) are still in but beyond that I dunno.
