That doesn't make it right. I say, ask for permission and they might let it go, considering it's for a replacement pack, and not a mod itself. Just try to make that abundantly clear in your email when you ask fox...

Some act as if the only way to get new models is to convert them from other games. You'll start seeing reskins of the current models as well as new models.
making entirely new content is really easy. as soon as established modellers/mappers/skinners from the fan bases of other mods see ns im sure they would create some outstanding new content specifically for ns. when a mod starts off the forums are filled with recolours and hack jobs and conversions, this is just the natural order of things. eventually completely new content is created because people learn to love the mod in question, and in someway want their creations to be associated with it. people of all skill levels like to contribute, they test thier skills, try and get a reputation as a competant editor of whichever branch of mod making that interests them, we all start off like that.
its nice to see people actually wanting original content instead of relying on other mods castoff conversions to spice up their gameplay, we all know those types of mods dont seem to last long anyway, and then there is the usual flamage in the forums a la "y0r /\/\0|) 15 t3H gH3y, r1Pp1nG 0f|= m0ld3s" crap. this is something we could do without.
i say it doesnt matter what your skill levels are, if you can model or map or even make a sprite, just do so, i guarantee you someone would love what you create.
Well, all the hack jobs, recolors and such are a good stepping stone to the next level of creation. Some people get stuck on that level and do not go beyond it.
I can forsee much new content for ns. I can't wait to see it.

i can and do make my own models/textures but i dont do them for free, i do them for money for local companies around here, i dont like doing it much i just happen to do it rather well
I wasn't referring to you Dirty J. I was just stating that many people use this a stepping stone to the next step and that this isn't the only way to get new models.
Geez, well if they dont mail you back in a couple of days, go ahead and release. If they dont care enough about it to even answer the emails, theyre probably not too concerned.
I agree completly. Give them a week and then release. I'm sure it will not be of issue since the NS TEAM is not using it in thier release and you are not gaining money from it.

It never ceases to amaze me how much something can expand over such a little thing. If you never get an email in the next month or so what are you going to do then? Stop getting worried over assumptions and share the wealth. Fox is too large a company to care about something like this. That's what I think anyway.
I'll bet the people who ported Halo skins and made things like Star Wars Battle Droids for CS never gave a damn about copyright. I agree with the chap above me - it's ridiculous to let one person't little thing get in the way of a groovy project like this.
The worst that could happen is Fox would politely request you make the models unavailable for download.

im to lazy to do my own work right now but if it comes down to them not letting me
then i will make my own pack
