Lets put together a basic match-up of our STANDARD forces of each corporation:

UAC: Marines, armed with standard Machine Guns, Chain Guns, Plasma Guns, and Shotguns. Heavily armored and armed. Has a functional brain. (IQ above 50)

Black Mesa: Barney: Armed with a Desert Eagle or Glock. Lightly armored with only a helmet and body armor. Moderately functioning brain. (IQ ranges between 25 and 40)

Weiland: Marines and Synthetics. Marines are normally outfitted with Pulse Rifles with a secondary grenade launcher. Some cary smart guns or high-caliber machine guns. Synthetics carry smart guns, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, the whole caboose. Slightly above average AI. (Ranges between 30 and 45)

TriOp: Standard Marine, armed with shotguns, pistols, assault rifles, or plasma pistols. Specially modified marines (in the very, very limited numbers) can carry some of the bigger, badder guns, though their numbers are limited. Moderate armor. Almost 0 AI.

Umbrella Corp: Zombies with pipes and teeth. Lets see how long they last to a shotgun shell to the face.

UAC and Weiland are practically tied in this match. TriOp's marines are too stupid to learn how to use the overpowered Assault Rifle, and Black Mesa Barney's are just plumb cannon fodder, as much as the Zombies are.

UAC has largey trained numbers of obediant marines, has created strides in technological advancements, colonized mars, and made the best Plasma Gun Reload Noise I have ever heard.

Weiland colonizes LV-1201 and has a large supply of marines and a tad smaller, but not short, supply of Synthetics.

Weiland and UAC come to a draw in a sheer war between the two!

Black Mesa would win. They would open portals to Xen all over their enemies and wipe em out, if that's not enough, they got security guards who can snipe with pistols! Barney is so 1337! Oh yeah, and G-Man... you know... that guy is God. (The ending of Half-life makes that clear...) Gordon Freeman would unleash his army of snarks. Gee-Gee!

You guys missed the single most important piece of the G-Man: His clients.

That guy works for people. If the G-Man is nothing but a representative for his clients, imagine what the clients are like.

You forget that Tri-Ops marines actually DO use the assault rifle, they just get swarmed by the many a lot and hence die.

Tri-Op also has a FTL spaceship that can alter space-time and presumably more mining stations like Citadel Station that can decimate earth with a mining laser strike, and lest we forget that Tri-Op could simply create an AI designed to futz up UAC's computers and take control of those little droids.

Seriously, far too many people are either blindly voting for Black Mesa or simply not thinking it through.

Tri-Op is an interplanetary corporation that controls almost everything and has FTL drives.

Weyland/Utani are an interstellar corporation with sublight engines.

ITS A TIE BETWEEN THESE TWO!

Tri-Op could definetly defend against Weyland/Utani, especially since the ships in SS are tooled for ship to ship combat, as opposed to being transportation ala Aliens.

Weyland/Utani have a definite advantage in ground troops simply because of sheer numbers. Tri-Op have tech on their side, fusion cannon, EMP cannon, Laser Rapier, Specialised ammo, multiple kinds of grenades, not to mention a plethora of PSI abilities that would make USCMC marines scratch their heads (soma transfer ftw).

Tri-Op has speed and technology at its side. Weyland-Utani have an interstellar infrastructure and nigh on limitless soldiers. With the computing power of Tri-Ops AI's, I'd think that a war between the two would stagnate on into infinity. Weyland would launch a new offensive and Tri-Op would counter it with a brilliant strategy used in tandem with their advanced technology.

Shodan is a fract AI, meaning one single byte of her code reflects the whole, hence, a single byte infiltrating a Weyland computer system would be enough to ruin the base and kill a good deal of the personnel.

On the other hand, Weyland have the Aliens at their disposal as a biological weapon, and yet Tri-Op have power armor in addition toxic suits that block out up to 75% of all toxins.

I say we make a new poll with Tri-Op taking on Weyland.

You're forgetting that all of TriOp's guns break after one or two shots, and most of the marines don't bother buying the repair skill.

Everyone has been saying that the G-Man can't attack at all.

Thing is, you're right!! He cannot attack however, he has access to teleporter technology and can thus TELEPORT himself into other objects, and since he can't take damage, the only thing taking damage will be whatever he is telefragging.

Since in game objects are given total health counts instead of a realistic system of pieces being broken apart, then if the G-Man teleported himself into any solid object that he wished to destroy, it would take damage until it died or be destroyed instantaneously.

There. Now he has an attack.

You can't use the 1 man army story for any of the above corporations: they all have it.

...except Umbrella...they're the real underdogs. Carlos might fit in there, but he sucks anyway, so no...no one.

UAC = Doom marine
BMRF = Gordon
Weyland/Yutani = Marine from any of the games that takes out Queens and Predators with ease - plus they're the only ones with actual planet scorching nukes in abundance.
TriOptimum = the über cyborg you play as.

They're all unrealistic super walking battle mobiles - stop acting like one company has an upperhand because of it .

Obviously Hicks and Shodan own Gordon.

"Ohh, look at me, im an expertly rendered scientest in a freakin' suit. That makes me coool!"

I didn't include anything from Doom or RE because both of them suck...kinda. And don't mention the Doom guy to me, i'll bet he retired after fighting off the forces of hell. I know I would...and I would have them rename Earth in my honor...and Mars. If someone like Gordon is all that the BMRF really has as an actual offensive force, they're screwed in every way possible. Just look at him...he doesn't look like he could really take on anything aside from a couple of crappy grunts and some aliens.

Alice (or Jill, if you want) aren't even employees of Umbrella. Well, Alice actually is - but she's not in the video games, so she doesn't count.

Shodan's not really an employee of TriOptimum either, but she can't really attack you by herself. But Hicks wins the coolness battle above. Now, if only you had used the cool Gordon picture .

Hicks is a marine. He has been trained heavily.
Shodan is a machine. It can think faster and in ways humans can't.

Gordon is a scientist. One day, an experiment went wrong, and, unlike every other scientist, he picked up a gun and kicked ass.

Gordon is better than all marines, not only because he can hose hoards of them, but because he had no training beyond simple use of small firearms. Then he destroyed the leader of an alien race single-handedly. SINGLE-HANDEDLY. Thats like Stephen Hawking getting up and kicking you in the groin.

No...Gordon is still a loser. No matter how you look at it.

Don't forget he was fighting retarded enemies too...I found HL to be REALLY easy. Where as someone like Hicks has fought against the aliens to end all aliens, and managed to come out on top.

Dude, don't be hatin' on the Hawkman. You's all betta listen when he drops the wicked rhymes 'bout "Don't make me get out of this wheelchair, I'll pop you like a zit"

Back on-topic, I think the BMRF would have significant troubles supporting an entire hidden base worth of scientists with just one bathroom. This is both a blessing and curse. At least it makes their base the very last that other corporations would want to take over.

[edit]I removed the extended joke that was written here. It was a little too much "potty humour" for the immature among us to handle.
