I'd strap him to a missile and launch him into the moons surface. Problem solved...let him be invincible out there.

But he could run into battle with a suticase nuke and detonate it killing everything around him.

Or better yet Gordon can ride the G-man around like a pony killing everything in his path.

Curses I had forgotten about this. But he can set bombs and stuff. So maybe he could just detonate nukes everywhere he goes. Not like they would hurt him at all anyway. Would suck if they just strapped him to a missile and sent him to the moon. It can get pretty lonely, being invincible.

According to the WHOLE Doom storyline, The doom guy goes THROUGH hell 3 times. (Final doom).

Then in doom 64, the doom guy stays in hell to make sure no demon ever rises again.

And the doom guy actually killed more cyberdemons in doom 2. He killed something like 5.

Black mesa has cruddy security, honestly, barney drinks too many beers, and the fatty one eats doughnuts.

Whereas UAC had actual teams of marines that were effectively killing demons in an organized fasion, untill they got ambushed.

UAC Also opened the gate to hell, and the doom guy closed it. The doom guy kicks ****, because in the end, hell felt more like home to him than earth. He chose to stay in hell and **** up the demons for all eternity.

Also, UAC is as huge a corperation as the rest of the pack. They have their own marine corps too, they can also nuke from space, (we can even do that today).
The Doom guy just raped the demons before they can nuke anything.

Weyland would steal every single piece of technology there is and find some way to control it. Zombie xenomorphs with minigun tails.

hmm yea black mesa is popular but then again The total domination, economic resources, political power, and other "above the law" assets that the Umbrella Corp. has, is pretty remarkable. Plus they are a popular household name brand!

They can pretty much get away with anything and they are publically known and supported.

other video game coprorations/ political entities

UNATCO: Deus Ex1 (During its peak of course)
The Illuminati /Templars from Deus Ex 1 and 2 lots of under the table political and militaristic influence
the WTO also from Deus Ex 2

This really depends on if you mean if the companies pooled their technologies to fight one another, or which would be the strongest based on their experiences taking into account the way in which they destroy themselves.

<!--QuoteBegin-UAC (Doom)+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (UAC (Doom))</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> - a dual planetary corporation (owning the entirety of Mars) with large holdings of the planet Earth (which would actually conflict with other corporataions within this post). Numerous high level technologies. Ability to open dimensional gates; weapons include basic weapons along with the famed BFG.

~2050s technology level in Doom 3
-Main Goal: in the essence of Doom 3: to develop dimensional transportation. But in a general context to develop weapons platforms and numerous 'evil' endeavors.
-Failures: the near destruction of their Mars base due to an influx of 'Hell' creatures.
-Main leathal character is one marine who single handedly does what the entire base failed to do...just like every other game in this list.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-Weyland/Yutani (AvP)+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Weyland/Yutani (AvP))</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> - a multi-planetary corporation with bases on numerous planets and numerous space stations. Included in their aresenal are: Smartguns, tactical nuclear weapons, ICBMs, pulse rifles.

    ~2150s technology level in Aliens.
-Main goal: to capture a Xenomorph or Predator
-Failures: LV-426 one abandoned colony and about 270 dead
-dissolution of the company by Alien: Resurrection; which some people tend to dissolve anyway.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-Umbrella Corporation (Resident Evil)+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Umbrella Corporation (Resident Evil))</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> - A multinational corporation spanning the likes of France and the United States (and apparently Antarctica, which has no internationally recognized claims). Their weapons aresenal isn't very advanced. The best kinds of weapons they get are plasma 'cannon's which seem to have a local radius of effect, since they probably need to charge after a couple uses; along with a rail gun.

~1990s/2000s technology level in the Resident Evil/Biohazard games.
-Main goal: to develop the ultimate bio-weapon
-Failures: Numerous occasions in which they've managed to kill entire towns or groups of people. Casualties likely to be greater than 5,000.
    -Numerous ruined facilites.
-Seem to have lots of Rocket Launcers lieing around in convienent places.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-Black Mesa Research Facility (Half-Life and Mods)+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Black Mesa Research Facility (Half-Life and Mods))</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> - A singular entity existing in the New Mexico desert. Destroyed by a nuclear blast after HL1 (with speculation), which would need to be omitted to allow it to enter into the contest, unless you want to only include Barney, G-Man and Gordon as the combatants. Arsenal includes numerous high tech devices; least of which is teleportation. They also host: high powered lasers capable of punching through concrete walls, gauss cannons (hand sized rail guns), egon guns and numerous small arms.

-1950s-2010s technology level (check your manual - "200-")
-Main goal: Appears to be extraterrestrial exploration in the realm of Gordon's actions, but general research overall (including weapons research, alien research and animal testing).
-Failures: none inherrent. They've been attacked by an extra terrestrial which was eventually pushed back, but caused an attack by the government which got them nuked.
-One ruined facility accounting for at least hundreds of personnel.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-TriOptimum Corporation (System Shock)+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (TriOptimum Corporation (System Shock))</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> - multiplanetary corporation hosting patents on numerous important devices, not the least of which would be nanites (which are more for replication than NS-esque purposes). The company itself hosts FTL speed drives, but weapons technology seems a bit lax, as their own specific weaponry revolves around computers and isn't particularily high tech, barring the occasional plasma ball rocket launchers.

[The Many and alien devices do not count towards TriOp's abilities in the context of a corporation battle - they did not find or develop them specifically, so they cannot be included - no crystal shard <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ]

~[can't remember, but I think it was around 2200s] technology level.
-Failures: One orbiting space station utterly demolished.
-One FTL speed ship, which should be mostly discounted as it would be considered inoperable after SS2.
-Monitored by the military, but generally powerful enough to do what it wishes politically and economically. Ability to resurrect its employees/soldiers (...if they remember to give the computer their information...).
-Weapons seem prone to jamming, despite their rather lax evolution.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Based on that, I'd have to go with BMRF if you discount it being nuked, otherwise, it seems to be UAC (although realistically, I think their timescale is a bit off, and unplausible...I could create a corporation that says: 2007, we created this portable rail gun like in Eraser, plus we have invincible battle armor- so UltimaGecko corp wins!...just to point out the timeframe discrepancy).

Or if all out nuclear war is possible: Weyland/Yutani...they're the ones with ready to use nukes.

UAC, because of their massive strides in tech. Not only military, but the ability to break down minerals into useable materials like water and oxygen to be used! Also, COLONIZE MARS BIZATCH! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    UAC.

Plus, Doom 3 has the most UPBEAT ROCK TUNE out of all the corporations. Lets see Black Mesa top a bitchin' tune.

Im right arent I? Out of all the corporations in games, none of them really have their own theme music when you enter the game? (nothin good at least)

I know AvP doesnt, Half Life doesnt, SS1 or SS2 doesnt, but not sure about Umbrella...
  • MantridMantrid Lockpick Join Date: 2003-12-07 Member: 24109Members
Half-Life does. Play the Steam version. Its actually neat, because the music is unsettling, but everything on the train ride looks safe and normal. But the music just gives you the feeling that something has to go wrong.

But that feeling might come from the fact that everyone and their mother knows what happens in Half-Life.
  • RecoupRecoup Join Date: 2004-04-25 Member: 28195Members
    Of course.

    BUT UAC HAS TIGHT-A** M00SIC!

Anyhow, if you looked at the datapads in Doom 3 you can see all their advancements in technology, like just kinda MAKING energy from raw substances, as well as O2 and fuel. Very nifty little things we are talking about here, also, PLASMA GUNS! W00T W00T FOR TEH UBER WEAPON OF DEWM! (God that gun rocks)

Gee... you mean like we do already in nuclear power plants?

And, as soon as we get fusion up and running, we'll be able to synthesize oxygen with only a little bit of difficulty.

Im talking about breaking a substance from MARS soil and creating breathable oxygen, pure water, and fuel! We cant make pure gas to run our cars and stuff off at this moment.

Half Life has music if you have the game CD in and music enabled. It's pretty good too. SS2 music is also quite good, but Doom 3 owns all.
