How about some crew quarters objects? <ul><li>desk</li><li>closet</li><li>couch</li><li>chair</li><li>photoframes and various stuff to clutter a desk</li><li>mugs</li><li>double bunk bed (one you can build into the wall, ST Defiant beds kinda)</li><li>plate of cold food (like the steak thing, but why have it on the table, when it is rare)</li><li>LCD kinda view screen (futuristic PC) and keyboard/mouse</li><li>aquarium</li><li>dining table</li></ul>
Some other items: <ul><li>Satellite or some kind of radio device</li><li>Alternative Resource Nodes (mappers can define alternate models for the node itself (neither marine or alien, but the ground thing)</li><li>Alternative Hives (not sure if this is still possible, but there used to be a field for this), ground based hive, wall based hive, instead of a wall hanging hive.</li></ul>
Just been looking through this thread... Are we allowed to use these in maps? I won't be taking credit for it but there are some thing I think would be cool. Here be a list: Infested CC infested Armoury Infested IP Infested PG Infested TF Infested Turrets Those flat panel monitors with a little infestation Dead marines, 1 lying down, 1 slumped as if against a wall.
You can probably guess what I wanna do with these. I wanna make an old over-run marine base as a hive. Would be cool if someone could send me links. You shouldn't use map models in the same room as hive, since hive itself eats a lot of e-polys. I'm not sure what are the limits regarding e-polys though, you might just be able pull it through. And dead marines are on the gray zone. IIRC gore is something that shouldn't be introduced in maps.

I love the idea of an infested MS as a hive - it'd be fantastic.
If you did it right, it probably wouldn't be too crazy on the polies.
Bodies could be left out, or if you're exceptionally clever you could put "placeholders" like helmets or boots down on the ground......

one thing i haven't seen much of in this thread is destroyed alien structures. there's dead marines, infested TSA buildings, etc. but not much showing the aliens' side of the destruction. why not have some dead skulks with their innards showing. or even better - a dead onos on his side and you could use it as a hiding spot <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

266 Polies. My first model, so I'm quite proud of the end results. Although 266 for just a cup does seem kinda high. Any idea as to how I can shave off some polies?

can't you specify in the hammer text file which model to use for each thing (i think it's in the FGD now)
