Well, I'm still here and, if you believe me, we've just got rid of the Psychopath. While this is good for the wolves and mafia as well as the humans, I'm hoping both these first teams have overlooked the fact that I can now be confirmed as a genuine human by not only the forensic detective, but the psychic. If the psychic and forensic specialist are alive (and not AFK) we can presume they have confirmed my story, and hopefully a human network can be started through me until I'm killed off at the end of the day (as logic would dictate).

Then again, the guardian or vigilante could protect me and allow the network to further flourish.

Anyway, I urge the psychic/forensic detective to get in touch now that they know I'm a confirmed human. Inevitably it will be up to me to decide who the fakes are and who's genuine, but you can trust me not to comprimise any of the more important roles.

I will be on IRC a little tonight and I'll try to be on all night (GMT 19:00-0:00) tomorrow, but PM me first to assure authenticity.

For now, I hold my vote.

[new post] Oh and also, I apologise to Mantrid for the way I ousted him. In almost immediate retrospect I realised that it was technically unfair to try to certify myself in the way I did (and I even have some rule amendment suggestions for the future to protect against similar outcomes, but I'll leave them for the post-game thread).

Crispy... are you sure? I thought the psychic CANNOT tell whether the psychopath is killed or not... upon checking the pregame thread, im_lost specifically says the psychic cannot detect the psychopath.

If you're getting contacted by a psychic that says he trusts you because he confirm the psychopath is dead, that's a red flag right there.

As far as I can tell, only the forensic specialist can confirm, if he's alive, and if he checked Mantrid last night (though it'll be silly if he choose someone else), that the psychopath is dead.

Like Crispy, I'll hold my vote. Though my internet is still having problems (someone forgot to pay... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" /> ), I should be back up and running soon. If not by the end of this day, I should be able to log in from school tomorrow and vote.

    <strike>Duh, the psychic could...</strike> Oh wait I mean the Seer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

<strike>The <i>Seer</i> could...</strike> Damn, the Seer only checks for Wolves and this time we have Wolves AND Mafia.

So, if the Seer AND Angel had both checked me last night AND they were both in contact they'd both be able to confirm my human-ness. Not so easy I guess.

But the psychic could confirm that Mantrid was a human OR psycho. Am I right?
  • XentorXentor Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5877Members
I think the psychic gets a wolf + mafia count each night, but that's after the lynching AND the nighttime killings. So if the wolves killed a mafia or vice versa, the count would change.

Apart from the psychic, we have the Seer who can scan someone and get "Wolf" or "Not Wolf", and the Angel who can get "Mafia" or "Not Mafia"... The detective (Who you claim to be, unless I'm mixing up posters here) can get "Psycho" or "Not Psycho". No one person can determine if someone is HUMAN, except after they're dead (Forensic guy can check the corpse).
  • im_lostim_lost TWG Rule Guru Join Date: 2003-04-26 Member: 15861Members
The psychic gets the count of mafia + werewolves. This count does not include the psychopath. This information is given to the psychopath as soon as the night starts. Just to clear up any confusion.
  • XentorXentor Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5877Members
Oh ok... But either way, the change in the number he sees will be the combination of one lynching plus one night's killings (The previous night, not the current one)... So if one red team hits the other, the psychic won't be able to tell that from us lynching a red team

I suspect <b>Krad</b> has a heavy conscience... I'm probably going to be silenced for that , but in the grand scheme of things my life doesn't hold much value anyway.

Cold NiTe has a phantom, and it's the only thing I can 100% go on at the moment.

    [new post] That's <b>Cold NiTe</b>.
  • TheslanTheslan TWG Signature Maker Join Date: 2004-04-27 Member: 28245Members
im_lost, are you really going to remove cold_nite and create 2 daytime deaths? It seems unfair for whoever is joined to cold_nite (if he's a wolf/mafia... or even the psychopath if Crispy is wrong), or to the humans for having an extra human die because of inactivity.

Just leave it as it is, and let Cold_nite get lynched (with the current votes). That's what the phantom votes are in place for.

If im_lost is not going to budge, then I recommend all the voters on cold_nite (gray_duck and Crispy) to move their votes on someone else. It makes no sense to vote on someone that's going to get removed anyway.

OK, back from my trip.... this game has gotten amaizingly (spelling ftw) slow... where are all the conspirecy theories? Most of ya'll haven't even voted!!!!

So as it stands, this is how I read the vote:

    (2) Cold Nite - Gray Duck, Crispy
    (1) Theslan - Krad
    (1) Krad - Stakhanov

    Below players haven't voted...
    ZeroByte
    Xentor
    Theslan
    Nurot
    ColdNite
    EMP Demon

I would like confirmation whether or not cold nite is going to be axed before the end of the day or not.... no sense in voting for him if he is.... but I"m not changing my vote if he isn't. I kind of agree, just let him get killed off this day and let the game go on.
  • XentorXentor Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5877Members
Well, I have no theories at all... This game is just too quiet...

Lacking any information, I'll just help get rid of <b>Cold-Nite</b>... Useless, I know, but I don't want a phantom.

    Where is everyone?
  • NurotNurot Join Date: 2003-12-04 Member: 23932Members, Constellation
Less than 2 hours left and 5 besides me have yet to vote.... Hello where'd you all go? I'm holding off to see if anyone comes out with a theory but I highly doubt it at this point...... Guess I'm going to have to vote for the inactive.
  • TheslanTheslan TWG Signature Maker Join Date: 2004-04-27 Member: 28245Members
I was hoping that im_lost would reply back... but if that's not the case, I have to vote. I'm currently studying for finals, so I'm going to vote for <b>Krad</b> again.

    Two reasons:

    a) if im_lost is going to kill 2 players, that means I'm in trouble (1 vote). So I have to vote on Krad strictly to survive.

    b) if im_lost is going to kill 1 player, then Krad should be safe. I'll be highly disturbed if he gets bandwagon though.
  • im_lostim_lost TWG Rule Guru Join Date: 2003-04-26 Member: 15861Members
The point of phantom votes is to prevent everyone from sitting around and not voting, and to encourage activity. Cold NiTe isn't hiding from the game, he's just too busy to play. It's silly to still have votes based on complete inactivity at this point in the game, so he is dying in addition to whoever else has the most votes.

Hmmph... I don't want to jump on a bandwagon and vote for Krad, nor do I see the point in voting for Cold NiTe...

    I can't help but have a bad feeling about <b>Gray Duck</b> though.

"Let's go back to the entryway, maybe we can meet up with the other group and look through the diary together," said <b>GrayDuck</b>.

"We could just look through it here and try to find something useful," <b>Isamil</b> said.

"I think <b>GrayDuck</b> is right, we should go back so there are more people to look over it. Besides, it would be safer back there rather than digging through it out here," <b>Krad</b> chimed in.

    "Fine, let's head back then."

    ------------------------

"OK, let's get back to the entryway and... and calm down," <b>Xentor</b> said, still a bit shaky. "Maybe we'll even meet up with the other group." He started walking back to the entryway, and the rest of the group followed. A few stalactites fell around them on the way back, but nothing too spectacular happened.

    ------------------------

<b>Isamil</b>, <b>Krad</b>, and <b>GrayDuck</b> made it back to the entryway. "Well, it's a good thing we came back here," said <b>Isamil</b> sarcastically. "There's no sign of the others. I guess I'll start looking through the diary." He pulled out the diary and opened it up. <b>Krad</b> and <b>GrayDuck</b> started looking around, trying to figure out where everyone else went.

"There's so much useless stuff in here," <b>Isamil</b> said, slightly frustrated.

"I think I hear the others coming back," <b>GrayDuck</b> said. Sure enough, everyone else headed back into the entryway. "Did you find anything worthwhile?"

"No, but a few more people died," <b>BlackMage</b> answered. "Did you guys find anything?"

"Yeah, we found a diary. <b>Isamil</b> is looking through it to see if there is anything useful."

"I'd like to look through it," <b>BlackMage</b> said. "Can I see it?"

"No, I'm looking through it right now," responded <b>Isamil</b>.

"You can't keep it to yourself."

    "Try and stop me."

<b>BlackMage</b> pulled out a pistol and pointed it at <b>Isamil</b>. "Give me the diary."

"You're making a big mistake," said <b>Isamil</b>. <b>Isamil</b> quietly pulled out a pistol of his own. He suddenly turned around, extending his arm at the same time. <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Isamil<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> and <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->BlackMage<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> fired at each other, and both of them fell to the ground.

"Just what we needed, people killing each other on top of the dangers that are here," <b>Cold NiTe</b> said.

    -----------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------

"So, without us killing anyone else here, let's look through the diary and see if there's anything useful," <b>Xentor</b> said. <b>Krad</b> walked over to get the diary, making sure no one had a problem with him grabbing the diary.

After looking through it for a few minutes,<b>Krad</b> said, "There's a picture sketched in here, and a brief description. I don't know what it's describing though."

"Can I look at it?" asked <b>Cold NiTe</b>. <b>Krad</b> passed it over to him. He looked over the pages that were open, and flipped through the pages before and after that. After about a minute he said, "I think I know what that thing is. It's a basilisk. I've only seen it in literature before," he explained, "but seeing as how what we're dealing with certainly isn't normal, and the description fits really well, I'm fairly sure that's what it is."

"So, what can it do? More importantly, how do we get rid of it?" asked <b>Theslan</b>.

"Well, one of the most dangerous parts about it is that if you look directly into its eyes, you die instantly."

"That explains what happened to <b>Mantrid</b> then."

"So, the first step would probably be to destroy its eyes. That's fairly difficult to do, since looking into its eyes is fatal. That probably won't be enough to kill it though."

"So, we get its attention and get it to come out, then blindly shoot at it and run away, and hopefully we'll blind it," suggested <b>Krad</b>.

"That's probably the best we can do, assuming it will come out for us to shoot at it," said <b>Cold NiTe</b>.

Everyone got their firearms ready, and they moved back into the passageway where the basilisk was last at. Most of the trip was fairly calm. Eventually the cave walls started shaking, and everyone became more tense. They creeped forward slowly, waiting for it to show up.

Suddenly it came around the corner. Everyone fired shots at it for several seconds, then they turned around and ran. None of them stopped until they got back to the entryway. "Is everyone all right?" asked <b>Crispy</b>. They looked around, and they noticed that <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Cold NiTe<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> and <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Krad<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> didn't make it back with them.

"As we were running back, I ended up looking back at him, and I didn't die, so I guess we shot out his eyes," <b>EMP Demon</b>. "That should make it easier to kill at least."

    <!--sizeo:7--><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->It is Day 4<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

After all of the action involved in blinding the basilisk, everyone needed a chance to rest. <b>Xentor</b> was a little scratched up from slipping when they retreated, so he was putting some bandages on the wounds. While he did that, the rest of the group was discussing plans for finishing off the basilisk.

"Why don't we just shoot it to death?" <b>GrayDuck</b> suggested. "That seems like the simplest thing to do."

"We could," said <b>ZeroByte</b>, "but if that's all we need to do, it should be fairly injured from us shooting at it already. If it looks really injured when we see it, that's probably easy enough, but we should have another plan just in case."

"Why wouldn't we be able to just shoot it?" asked <b>GrayDuck</b>.

"It could have thicker skin at the front that protects it, so we would have a really hard time simply shooting it," <b>ZeroByte</b> responded.

"I think I'll try it anyway," said <b>GrayDuck</b>.

"It has to be vulnerable somewhere," <b>Theslan</b> said. "Maybe we can shoot it or stab it from underneath. I know we didn't bring anything along that could be used for stabbing, but there are some big rocks here that look just as good for that purpose."

"Shooting it seems unreliable, and stabbing it from underneath seems really dangerous. Are there any other ideas?" asked <b>EMP Demon</b>. Everyone looked around at each other, but no one had anything else to say.

"I guess those are the plans we'll be using then," said <b>ZeroByte</b>, not looking very confident about their chances. "Everyone should have their guns out or something to stab it with."

    <b>Theslan</b>, <b>Nurot</b>, <b>Crispy</b>, and <b>ZeroByte</b> grabbed things to stab it with, while <b>GrayDuck</b>, <b>Stakhanov</b>, <b>EMP Demon</b> and <b>Xentor</b> pulled out their guns.

"Let's move toward it," said <b>ZeroByte</b>, sounding just a bit shaky. The group advanced down the passageway where the basilisk was previously at. After a few minutes of walking, they saw it up ahead. "There it is!" screamed <b>ZeroByte</b>. Apparently the basilisk heard <b>ZeroByte</b>, because it immediately charged toward the group. Everyone with a gun out got ready for it to get close enough to fire, and the rest of the group moved to the side, waiting for a chance when they would be able to get underneath it.

As the basilisk approached, <b>GrayDuck</b> told them, "Fire on the count of three. One, two, three!" They started shooting at it, but it didn't seem to slow down. It started making some bellowing noises, so it was either being injured or angered. It charged straight at <b>GrayDuck</b>. <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->GrayDuck<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> tried to jump out of the way, but the basilisk was too quick. At this point it stopped to try to identify a new target.

"Now is our chance!" said <b>Theslan</b>. The group of people ready to stab the basilisk moved in. At the same time, the basilisk turned toward <b>Theslan</b>. As the group moved in, the basilisk raised its foot up and managed to crush <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Theslan<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>. <b>Nurot</b>, <b>Crispy</b>, and <b>ZeroByte</b> all managed to stab into it, and the basilisk bellowed in pain.

In case something comes to light while I'm asleep that reveals Zero to be a fake, I'm gonna have to place my vote on him. According to his story this should pose no threat whatsoever to him, but if he's lying it gives the human team a chance at lynching him.

I wouldn't be doing this if I was 100% certain of ZeroByte. The problem is, for that I need to know who he killed last night (assuming he is the Vigilante), and he still hasn't come up with an answer. This way at least we have a comeback if some late information comes to hand for the EST human contingent.

[new post] Almost forgot my vote: <b>ZeroByte</b>

    <b>Stakhanov</b>
  • CrispyCrispy Jaded GD Join Date: 2004-08-22 Member: 30793Members, Constellation
It seems incredibly unlikely that Xentor, Zero and EMP are all Wolves, and much more likely that they're all Humans. I received a PM from Zero that (cleverly?) corroborates his role, so I'm moving my vote to <b>Stakhanov</b>.

As I hinted before, based on claims by ZeroByte (Vigilante), Xentor (Mason) and Nurot (Seer), we should be in a 5 on 1 humans:wolves situation. The only reason I'm releasing this information now is that, looking at the numbers, it shouldn't make a difference to our chances, especially if we get it over with today.

But if this doesn't make sense for EMP, who is the only supposed human I haven't spoken to, then we have a problem. It should be plain sailing from here on in, though.

Actually, not technically. If Stakhanov, EMP Demon and Nurot all voted for ZeroByte, he and Stakhanov would be tied with 3.01 votes.

So, we need one more vote for the instalynch.

In case there's any confusion about why instalynch was at 3.1 votes, here's a quote from the FAQ thread, which has been there since before TWG I started.

<!--QuoteBegin-FAQ thread+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(FAQ thread)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin--><i>Phantom votes</i> - If a player fails to vote during the day phase, he will have a phantom vote against him. A phantom vote is 0.001 of a normal vote. An instalynch will require you to have <b>more than 50% of the votes</b>. Meaning having a phantom vote against you can cost the game for you. 16 players and 8 votes against you is not grounds for instalynch. that's 8.000 votes. 8 votes and one phantom votes against you is instalynch. That's 8.001 votes, more than 50%.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Replace 0.001 with 0.1 (because it really doesn't matter), and that's what happened here.

Unfortunately, the big rocks that they stabbed into the basilisk couldn't be pulled back out, so they couldn't continue stabbing the basilisk with them. <b>Crispy</b> and <b>ZeroByte</b> went to grab another rock for use in stabbing the basilisk. <b>Nurot</b>, however, had different plans. He pulled a device out of his pocket and stuck it on the basilisk's leg. Then he ran over to get another rock like the others.

During the fight, <b>Stakhanov</b> ran out of ammunition, so he ran toward the basilisk to help out. He grabbed a rock, ran up, and stabbed the basilisk. Unfortunately, the basilisk stepped on <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Stakhanov<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> as he backed away, killing him instantly.

"The bullets aren't doing any good, let's help them out," said <b>EMP Demon</b>. <b>EMP Demon</b> and <b>Xentor</b> threw down their guns, grabbed some sharp rocks, and went to stab the basilisk. At the same time, <b>Crispy</b> and <b>ZeroByte</b> ran up and joined them. All of them stabbed the basilisk. It started stumbling around, and it stopped screaming.

"It looks like we killed..." were the last words that <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Xentor<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> said before the dead basilisk collapsed and crushed him.

"Umm, I guess we succeeded, we should go back and get our reward."

"Hey, what's this?" <b>ZeroByte</b> asked as he picked up the device that had fallen off the basilisk.

"<b>Nurot</b>, why weren't you helping us kill the basilisk at the end?" asked <b>EMP Demon</b>.

    "Um, err..." <b>Nurot</b> stammered.

"This looks like it would be used for controlling the nervous system," <b>ZeroByte</b> noticed. "What were you doing with it?"

"Well, I figured I would be better off controlling the basilisk, rather than just killing it so that stupid corporation could take all the Terintium. That way I could be rich <i>and</i> have a basilisk under my control."

"Too bad, neither is going to happen now." <b>ZeroByte</b> pulled out his gun and shot <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Nurot<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>. "Let's go home." <b>ZeroByte</b> headed toward the cave entrance, and the others followed him.
