well I'm a lvl 21 mage at this point :> having a lot of fun, but mage is wayyyyyyyy expensive... at this point, it takes about 10k worth of mana refreshers to gain half a level... of course you don't HAVE to spam refreshers, but sitting to regen is hella tedious...
still, I stand by mage, because A) I'll bet they'll fix mana regen, B) air combat is hella fun (the other 2 classes have to stand still and melee air monsters; mages launch homing missiles), and C) intense damage - with the proper weaknesses, my spells are doing up to 800 damage now...
a tip: the game's website is a great resource for quests... youu can make sure you're not missing any quests for your level by looking at the quests section...
the game is in may ways a WoW clone - you can only get xp from mobs about 2 lvls lower than you, you can only feasably kill mobs 1 or 2 levels higher than you, there's quests for every level so that you're not just grinding (though of course you still are grinding)...

I'm honestly surprised this game isn't taking off in the NS world like Maple and even Gunz... personally I find the grind much less tedious than Maple... there's quests for every level, you kill new things at every level instead of being stuck on one monster for 50 hours of playtime and then another mob for another 50 hours...
I'll bet I will start getting bored with flyff after level 30 or so when I'll have no new spells to look forward to til 60... but til then, I'm still hooked <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
dunno really disco... I just don't feel compelled to play it for some reason. What I said about it being pretty stands but I just can't be bothered most of the time. I just look at the flyff exe on my desktop then end up either playing something else or browsing the net :/
The engrish is a lil offputting but I dunno... it just doesn't feel as worldly as ragnarok did and that sorta puts me off. Then again I'm still just hanging around the starter city fighting with everyone to reach the little burdwhatsits when I do logon so...
Yeah I sort of understand what you mean, with the really big flood of players and all. It's a big pain trying to find a spot where the monsters aren't taken until you reach SaintMorning.
As for why it's addicting...well, honestly I have NO idea. I only just play it for some reason.
What I do know is that I will start alternating between MS and FlyFF soon though. Sticking to one game only makes everything boring <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

First off, I finally found something on the Japanese website that details the EXP system quite well. I took the liberty of translating it and adding a few tidbits....ok a lot of tidbits. Either way the EXP system looks simpler this way.
Secondly, I also found the links to the promotional video, as well as the videos for Darkon3 and 2nd classes. Unfortunately the 2nd class video is only for showing off the equipment. No skills are shown at all.
BTW, these are stream videos and are not really professionally done at all.

And finally.....I've finally found a game where the quest rewards are worth it. However, everything hikes up in price as well so it's pretty much almost required to do the quests. I've missed a few and I am quite lacking in cash in comparison to characters at the same level.
Hah this is funny, but apparently the guys down at the local Anime Store in Arlington were playing this game. (Most fans are part of the mmo craze anyway.) But I only knew about it because you guys were talking about it. Odd, heh.
