Yeah it's not about the story, but what you make the game to be. This game is not to be played by the book, but by your own accord, and that is, what I believe, is the appeal of Spore.
Replay value is there, but really this game has so many possibilities. You don't just reach the end. You can influence others and interact in ways you choose that aren't written in stone and quite literally make the game whatever you want.

can you imagine an order of higher being players as a clan to protect lower life species/planets from another group of higher being players that destroy stuff? crazy stuff you can make up in that game.
This is insane! And awesome! I must buy this when it comes out. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well, as he said, it just downloads content other people make, then AI takes over. They may or may not be a mulitplayer component to this game, but since everyone get's the UFO which can do the same stuff, I doubt it (in it's current state that we saw).
The idea of bringing in other people's content is, like he said, to mix it up on the fly. No need to go download custom content, it does it all for you. It makes the game insanely different no matter how much you play it, cause the AI mmics the other players so far. It's not about creating massive alliances and such, that would require a revamp for online play, and be astronomically hard to balance, since people could make anything, literally.
Oh gawd if this turns into a MMO i quit. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> guilds.. clans.. groups.. whatever you want to call it.. this game is based on interacting with other people(with single player mode avalable too), but the point is to compete and interact in different ways with few or (if any) limitations. Yes it's massive and multiplayer.. but the game was modeled from life. Many people interacting at different levels.
That video makes me think "How could that be possible?" and "How could that not be possible?" at the same time... Truely amazing. I'm definetely getting that game. Hell, it looks like it's worth it in it's current form. And I haven't even seen the whole video yet as I'm writing this.
ITs not multiplayer just multi-content shal we say. You dont really interact with anyone besides the AI which grabs other peoples stuff. But What I wanna know is if I can build a galactic empire and fly around massive fleets and bully people and get some real good AI interaction
Maybe it's a good thing that the game won't be multiplayer. Gives them a goal to shoot for when they start work on Spores 2. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Dear God, this looks awesome. When I first read the description in a gaming magazine I thought "This sounds like a more boring version of The Sims." I could not have been more wrong. This game looks like it could have the potential to be in the halls of gaming fame.

"Earth is the kingdom of 'who gives a sh*t?'" Hahahahah.
The game looks great, umm... it seem very fun. Umm... my computer would never, umm... run it. It seems great, umm... I'd make Yoshi a carvevour and, umm... Metroids and... umm... other cool creatures.
Your computer would run it. The data packages are tiny; all the legwork comes from algorithms and such, which are rather small by comparison to normal content files.
Anyone fancy making the Shivans from Freespace? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

The replay value of this game should be near infinite. It should never offer the same experience. There are just too many variables that you can chance, and too many new creatures that will inhabit your world and everything. The editor is extremely flexible, and this alone should make it quite easy to play this game over and over, just to see how different guys would walk/fly/swim. Not only that, but this game has also got multiple genres in it. It's got the pacman, click and kill, the rts, sims, sim city, and more... The game experience will be constantly changing, and you will constantly be getting new things/more money. A "sandbox" mode might quickly kill this game, but actually playing it through should offer tons of replayability. The thing that absolutely floors me about this game is that the entire thing is being procedurally created. The animations, the textures, the skins, and the world are all being created with code. I can't believe that, it's just crazy.

Fall 2006... Says gamespot. I hope they are right. That would mean two good things are coming out in 2006. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
By the way, it says in that movie why they aren't going to be having multiplayer: How would you like it if some ***hole that already has a UFO just came to your planet while you're still evolving, and blew up your planet? That would suck. It would be cool to play with other people, but the game would need to be heavily changed.
The whole "Mating Sequence" nearly had me crapping my pants I was laughing so hard <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'd say it's just the opposite, if you're into this kinda game... nearly infinite replay value. Lots of combinations of creatures, plus the fact that you get content delivered to you made by other players should mean that you never see the same game twice.

Amazing, and very inspirational as well.

Will I be the only one creating an intergalactic civilization of superintelligent gorges?
This is by far the best "omg I wet myself" situations I have ever come across. More then HL2 or any other game Ive been waiting for/played/etc.
