ehm low detail white crap without sense. i should really try to find new 3d program and be more patient. forgot to put most of the important detail and i hate that even more than the door which sucked too
I will gladly give that "green crate of utter lameness" a try if someone can define what the part I whitened is... rope ? metal ? just what the hell is it ? Also , are those 2 sections at the top supposedly locked by that rope thingy or whatever it is ? I'm just trying to figure out what purpose that crate serves and how it's supposed to be opened
belive it or not but i thought it was a big zip, as in a fly on your pants, theres some huge millatary style zips out there, genraly issues with things like canvas as thick as boot souls
But then that would imply the top part being Cloth/Leather ?!? ....
Well anyways here is what I have done so far (spent 10 minutes) working from the ground up. Never mind the red line , I just left it there as a reference as to where I left.
I am well aware that the bottom corners arent as tall as the original texture but between you and I , the crate is stupidly too far from the ground in the texture (see the black area at the bottom). I will , however , stretch them just a tiny little bit to make it feel right (because right now I don't think lifting machinery could fit under there).
Now here are my newbie questions (I use 3ds Max5) :
-First , notice the smoothing above and below the red line ? I obviously don't want smoothing on a crate , and I have autosmooth turned off , but it just keeps smoothing everything and that gives ugly results by making everything look round where it should not.
-Secondly ... I tried to map the texture on it just too see how it would look but it told me that it would not render properly by this message "The following objects require map coordinates and may not render correctly." And it indeed did not render
I have noooo idea what are map coordinates or how to set them. (yeah I am really that new to 3d) Any help with that would be greatly appreciated.
Lastly , any comments would also be appreciated , but please overlook the top part completely as I haven't touched it yet and am out of time for the moment.
(P.S: The next time I go fight some I'll keep and eye out to fetch textures that could be 3d'ed for this thread)
By the way, its kind of funny to actualy have a Zip on a sold box.
Also, for those that have GMAX (free 3d modeling kit based on 3d max 4.X), you can download THIS file which is a starting GMAX file for this Crate Green Of Doom !
Ooow crimping from some sort of claw arm, makes sence as the belt buckle type thing in the middle looks like it could be sunken into the model, there for hte crimping from a ware and tear of a claw consistantly moveing these bad boys around
i would say, there not lifted up from below as like ya said, theres simply not enought room fro a crain/forklift, i would say it would also be lifted up by the sunken in pokets on 2 sides, the wouldnt be n the other two sides tho,
the reason for hte gap at the bonton would be so the base doesnt rust out
Comments
any one eles

ok ok so zip was pritty funny
What download ?
I think a *.cfm is a compiled help file.
Anyway, lets' not drag software problems/evaluation in here. That's not the point of this thread.
