And as for why that appears flatshaded: this happened to me like a year ago, and I think I fixed it by doing something with the normals. Probably not flipping them; maybe softening them did it. Yeah, softening sounds right. Try that. If you don't know how to soften normals (I sure as heck can't remember) try Maya help.
oh i am not even going to be roped into this, forget you!
hum i liked ya second one better con, basicly the thirds uncomplete, and the switch handle looks to fragile, like a rine would snap it off, let alone try and get a ha to use this thing if a ono is chargeing at him

To anyone wanting to try this thing out but is a bit afraid, this isn't a contest to see who will be producing the best awesome looking piece of 3d object. This is an exercise.
I'm sure a lot of you want to try 3d modeling but aren't experienced. This is mainly aimed at you guys.
Try it out. Show us what you did. Ask questions about it. How else do you think you can improve your modeling skill? We are giving you good constructive critics to help you out, to improve your art, to make you go "Humm, yea maybe I can try this approach instead". Even talented folks like Sheena is helping people here.
In here you have the opportunity to try something new or improve a new skill and at the same time, do it on something you already love (NS, what else!). You will get friendly advices here and who knows, you might wind up in the NS Dev team within a couple of months.

And I have a question. Was that cylinder extruded or did you simply create another object?
I wish Sheena would teach me maya! *cries sadly*

Er... can anyone tell me why that area on the left side of the handle looks like it's flatshaded?
Edit: Well it crashed and I forgot to save. Never mind.
