I almost had a .22 round ricochet into my face 2 days ago while I was target shooting. Hit the brick behind me. Nothing is scarier than the wizzing of a bullet past your face. Well, if you want my most painful injury, that'd probably be chasing after the dog and running my pinky-toe into a wooden...something (part of a chair); thing swelled to the size of my big toe, and got all upside-down J crooked on me. Bit of a limp for a few days afterwards.

    Apparently I also fell down the stairs when I was 2...but I don't remember any of that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

Hmm.. hearing about what some of you kids are doing is just insane. Sadly I can't say that I've had much in the ways of injuries other then something that was out of my control.

Renegade had the most manly, but I'd be safe to say that I had the most painful.

Was about 10 and was in a place called Sliding Rocks. It's a natural water-slide place that has freezing ice-water running down very slick hard rocks at a 45 degree angle into even colder water and more pointed rocks. I got up there and lost me balance, flipping back and smashing my head on the water. I guess I lost conciousness until I hit the colder water below and woke up. I honestly didn't feel any pain until I warmed up, none at all.

Here is what it felt like.

Having your stomach punctured with a rusty spoon, then the spoon slowly cranked in a circle for about 12 hours, then having it pulled out and your internals coming with it. All for about 3 years. Yeah, it was fun. (/sarcasm off) :-)

Details, Cyndane (didn't you used to be Lanfear?).

I've never really been badly injured. The only thing I had to go to the hospital for was an acute asthma attack when I was like 5 or 6.

    1. I've hurt my wrist a few times when I fell from the roof (inside) our garage, climbing in the rafters.

    2. Dropped a glowing piece of wood on my leg when playing with things in our fireplace.

    3. Was standing in a go-cart thing my friends and I built that was being towed at high speed by another friend on his bike. He turned sharply, the cart jerked out from under me, and I hit the ground pretty hard. I had trouble breathing and was in some pain for the next few days to the point where running for P.E. was excruciating. Didn't tell my parents about it.

    4. This didn't really do any serious damage, but it really hurt. I was paintballing, and I jumped down a ledge, and my friend on the enemy team shot me just below the sternum from about 5 feet away. I know have a circular scar there.

The last one is okay, though, since I did the exact same thing to him the round before, in the same place, when he jumped down the same ledge. Except I shot him in the head. Twice.

    Talk about revenge

Just remembered another; Was walking along a rather large beam of wood holding a bridge in our neighbourhood park, when I slipped and basically fell straight down onto the bridge, the beam of wood jamming itself directly under my ribcage. Couldn't breath for about 2 minutes, and even then, it was difficult to hours after the accident. Not even sure if I fractured anything, but it seems my ribcage is fine, putting periodic sharp stabs of pain every once in a while, aside.

Oh yes, another bike accident; Went full speed in a zig-zag course in front of my old elementary school, needless to say, I lost control, and I ended up planting my head against the curb. Much fun.

Well, being the semi-lucky guy that I am, nothing major has ever happenned that I can recall right now. But I almost did some SERIOUS damage to my testicles. In about 5th or 6th grade, I was riding my bike at about 15-20 MPH, not too fast, but I some how slipped off the back of the seat and my feet slipped off too. I was about a half-inch away from grinding my pre-pubescent(spl?) balls off.

edit: I just remembered a paint ball incident where a total newbie shot me from 2 feet away in the shoulder (I wasn't wearing thick clothing). I won't go into the details of the situation, but it hurt like crazy. I had a huge welt for weeks and a dark circle there for a month.

I've had a few interesting injuries in my life, but I must relate 2 that my dad had experienced because going through these and living makes him the man.

1st big injury. My dad worked in construction for a good deal of his life. One day, while working on roofing a house, he leaned over to grab a hammer or something and got a nice nasty wind to completely throw off his balance. This house was a 2 story house and he fell straight down headfirst. Lucky for him, there was a nice concrete sidewalk to break his fall as well as his jaw and other parts of his face. He luckily lived, but during his hospital stay, he had to have his jaw wired shut. One day he sneezed and literally dislocated his jaw. The doctors wouldn't believe him when his wife at the time called them, so he had to manually relocate his jaw. The entire time, he refused pain killers because he didn't want to be addicted.
The outcome was that pictures of him from his first marriage and early past look nothing like him now due to the facial reconstruction that went on.

Round 2. This happened when I was about 5 years old. He was doing work at a General Motors car plant installing ductwork for cooling/heating, etc... While he was working on something, he felt a great big shock and just intense pain. He thought he had drilled through some live wires or something like that. What had really happened was that someone on some scaffolding 20 above him dropped a 20lb pipe and it landed on his head. The trauma caused his brain to short circuit and he felt the 'electric' shock of that. To make matters worse, after the impact, he fell backwards, hitting his head again on some more pipes that were on the ground behind him.
He was very blessed to survive at all, but as irony would have it, he was the only guy to wear a hard hat on that job that day. If he didn't have that, he would have surely died. The pipe from above split the hard hat and cut into his skull, but thankfully didn't destroy his brain.
However, because of this, he has experienced some memory loss and lost about 2 inches in height. Thankfully, his mental faculties are sharp as ever. After the injury, he went to college and got himself an Associates Degree in something or other, but it never helped him much.
I'm just happy he's alive and by now, I think nothing can kill him.

    My dad is the man.

Broke my left arm in 4 places when a horse decided to kick me.

Cracked my chin when I decided it'd be cool to jump my bike of a speedbump with a hill at the other side.

Dislocated both knees playing football (the UK kind) from a bad tackle.

Almost lost use of my fingers when sheet metal met the back of my hands edge first, tendons were severed but repaired.

Managed to bounce a throwing dart of the metal rim around the treble 20 and impale myself in the shoulder (I threw it hard out of anger, cant remember what for)

Cut my right arm to while diving in the red sea, on the only piece of metal in the damn area.

Broke my right foot 3 days later when a friend dropped hit air tank on it.

Fell from a 10 foot wall, back first onto a tree stump, but walked away, the worst bit was all the rose bush thorns that were in me for weeks later.

About 7 years ago in chemisty got my hand attached to a test tube that noone told me had been above a bunsen just 2 minutes earlier.

But the MOST PAINFUL thing i have ever experienced is indeed a paper cut, the ones you get between your fingers, thats no joke.

    Pfft.

    Selected examples:

I've managed to put a fork (gardening, rather than eating) straight through my boots and my foot, stapling it to the ground through my foot and big toe (prongs went through both).

I have a largish scar on my left temple. This was caused by falling over whilst trying to run wearing handcuffs. Don't ask.

When I was younger, I managed to pour boiling soup all over my face by trying to look into a soup mug from below (nice grasp of fluid mechanics there). Off school for six months whilst recovering from septic burns to my face from the cheeks downward.

I've been shot in the todger playing paintball. The guns were set to around 300fps and I was shot at a range of about 7 yards. The resultant injury turned most of it purple (or more so) and left a crescent shaped cut on it. Ironically, the following weekend, I slept with my GF for the first time. It hurt me more than her.

Finally, recently I was having sex with my current partner when I heard an ominous *pop*. Suddenly there was a lot less friction and a glance downstairs to look at the situation revealed a fair amount of blood.
I had torn my frenulum, which resulted in a very roomy trousers and a very delicate approach to self-abuse for at least a couple of weeks. Such are the potential dangers of having a "quickie" without appropriate warm up. Wasn't actually very painful, but there's nothing down there that I'm completely comfortable with going snap.

Doubtful due to fetish. If your handcuffed erotically, chances are you'd be handcuffed to something, or in a position you can't fall down in anyway.

I hear you, I worked at a hospital in the medical records department. Every day we filed the new records of the past patients. Oh God the number of paper cuts were excruciating. Apparently file folders somehow sharpen with age. Don't ask how, I don't pretend to understand, only fear.

You could have livened it up using a drinking game. You know, if a patient comes in with a heart attack, take a drink. If he was faking it, take another drink. If someone comes in with something lodged in their body, take a drink. If its something inserted rectally, finish the bottle.

Falling with my bike at ~30-40 kph with a helmet and no gloves(apart from tearing up the skin on my hands, left shoulder and knees pretty bad I hit my helmet against the asphalt). Without a helmet I could quite easily have died and I would defintely have messed up my nose something awfull, but instead I just walked away from it with a very trashed bike and a mild concussion.
