its a wideknown method to just skin the barrel hole on because a 12 sided cylinder with a 12 sided barrel hole comes out to quite a few polies
Finally, a skin that the the high poly model deserves, the ones that come with it are... lacking, to put it nicely.
One thing though, on the magazine, the highlights look too rough and sketchy, making them more defined and cleaner couldn't hurt at all.
Also, the grainyness all over detracts from the skin itself, it's like a cheap hack to make the metal seem worn, but it's not really a good looking hack, it makes the overall skin a lot poorer. More attention to manually adding dirt, scratches and the like would benefit the skin more than just overlaying a rough texture to save yourself some work.
some people noted that his HP RT skin was kind of grainy too, but it worked out
he said this <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->yes i know it might seem grainy but i have many differtn styles of skinning and i felt like usuing this one on it... as i think i may have said b4(im to lazy to look at what i said) this technieuq is better on highres maps.... also i do add dirt and stuff on the base texture with brushes..... and halflifes render system isnt GoD LiKe so it will b not as noticable.. but maybe next time when not staying witht his way i will try it less hack free. although i am call HaxMan
overylaying pshh i dont overlay... well i do overlay for lighting and color sometimes but i dont overlay a texture eww

agreed; all-grey does seem a bit boring. It would be hard to find dirt in space... I guess you could start it as green then, as he said, manually scrath it's surface, peel the paint away a little here and there.... you know.

i was thinking of not posting this until i was done but since Mr Socks made me laugh ill show u what i got... u can test it out ingame too... all i need to do is add the lcd.. which i will be doing to lcd screens one like the res towers and one liek the original lcd
1 sec i gotta upload then edit
<span style='color:blue'>EDIT:CAN YOU SPOT THE THINGS I EDITED?
so here's a screeny for you, slightly increased contrast and brightness for better viewage i was worried about the area around the edge of the scope, on the back, cus on some of the other skins it looked really awkward and the corners were really notice-able, but it seems you did a good job on that part
/edit one other thing as i'm looking at that screenshot, the bumps on the side of the scope look kinda weird
<!--QuoteBegin-MrSocks+Mar 31 2005, 08:53 PM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (MrSocks @ Mar 31 2005, 08:53 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> /edit one other thing as i'm looking at that screenshot, the bumps on the side of the scope look kinda weird <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Bite me it was on the regular lol ill see what i can do to make the scope look better
ok i'm definitely using. probably gonna make some edits on my own first, like making the scope blue, you colored it grey again <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
edit: btw this one is way better looking than the rest of your skins <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
me? those are crosshairs made by MintMan that i modified. I also made a simple but very useful shotty crosshair, i guess if you wanted i could ask him and release them or something
i havent changed it from whenn i added color it lost contrast... and i havent added liek the scratches and the darkerness on the sides and stuff... thats not the final it was just what i was letting u see while i got lazy and was going out to party and stuff
Hmm...its nice, buuut...One reason I don't use the other High Poly LMGs is due to the fact the arms look silly holding it. Need High Poly arms to go with it.. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I see your doing a third skin axman. You knew this post would come so I might aswell put out your fire. Honestly I think this skin isnt as good as your old ones, I know its not finished yet, but at its current state it looks too messy and grainy. Remember the TSA equipment isnt meant to be all fully scratched up and used, its meant to be new and undamaged. As BrigadierWolf once said in a thread aeons ago, you would get kicked out the army to let your gun get that worn (sorry brig if it wasnt you that said that).
Please dont take this the wrong way or anything, I just think you need a post of criticism that hasnt been said about 50 times over (but yes it does need more colour and contrast =p)

i like the strong highlights, they remind me of the default skins in NS so this will fit in right away
oh, and your host is slow ! lol

Very VERY dull. There's very little contrast.
The actual skin is good though.
