I don't mean to be noobish and all but, I've installed severaly mods for the source engine that work great and I made a folder called nss in the sourcemods folder. I unziped this beta there, and it didn't work. I tried unziping it into the ns folder for hl1 and it still didn't work. Can you get me a readme or tell me what im doing wrong.

I added a transparent part to the doors so the vehicles can be seen. no we got 2 exits in his location, one leading to the vehicle elevator, another leading directly to the surface elevators. another plannd out route will lead from vehicle elevators to the colling drainage. so I replaced one centered route with one route south and another one north of it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> the engines on the left side of the area (not in the picture) had been replaced by an elevatorshaft "ripped" from ns_source_b22 build 45. resource nozzle stays although some players mentioned the distance to the marinebase to be too close. lightning needs some fixing. the vent exit stays the same but the route will lead up and THROUGH the garages so alien players can have a closer look at the nicemodel.

We did some playtesting of this map on LM, a little hide and seek and a little playthrough. I crashed out when the burntnozzle model tryed to load, but this is still by far the sexiest map I have ever played, gives me a whole new impression of what is possible in the realm of NS mapping. If I can get it working properly I'm going to be voteing to play this map alot more often, I'd love to do anything I can to help balance it in real play situations.
Anyways, awesome job.
If you haven't already, you are doing a diservice to yourself as a mapper if you don't give this map a runthrough. Parts of this map are just unbeliveable, and the whole deal redifines NS in terms of architexture.
constructive criticism is something I can build on ^^
the nozzle thing could be a proble of preloading models, we had the same problem till I fixed the zipped files. thhe second nozzle in the marinestart will be removed probably removed. first of all it still confuses players ("there is a bug in the marinestart, I cant build the second res tower.") and the hitbox is completely messed up. maybe some clear defined architecture as exchange <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
still working at the vehicle elevator. its a pretty hard job because I tricked myself with weird connecting architecture. guess it will take 4 more weeks to the next beta. but this one will bepretty much finished besides some minor fixes. the worst bugs had been fixed, some "specials" like the func_rotating at crusher has been removed.

Is that the only view of the tank? It seems a pity to only have a rear view, you don't seem to get a full understanding of the design. I'd suggest putting it in a sunken bay so that you look down on it from that door (this will also make the map seem larger and more complex because of the extra height variance).
I wish my bro's PC hadn't died. The few precious days I have back in the UK and his PC dies so I can't play Hulk, Source, and Confused map (the name escapes me).
crispy, just WAIT. aliens can get a pretty good view on the top of it when using the airduct through the garages. the commander gets a clear view on top from his perspective. and even marines will be able to locate a separated vehicle in one of the locations. but the really important thing: who the hell will finally be able/willing to skin it? Im sick of begging...

lightning is little bit poor atm. take a closer look at te screenshots: on the left and right side of the elevator are ladders so you have to be a perfect target while climbing the ladder (like in beta 33). this was a really hard one. spend 2 days on making shure the location makes sense. another addition is the holographic sign. a decision I made this week was to add this signs in some spots of the map. other examples?

We've been in lockdown mode for the last few weeks just trying to polish up and fix what we currently have without adding anything new. Don't get discouraged. Just wait till 3.0 is out then try sending a copy to one of the PT leads and see if they'll arrange the playtests.

Tyr has been fairly busy lately and his absence has left somewhat of a void. That's why I would suggest talking with one of the PT leads for the time being and see if they can help you.

There really needs to be better dev communication with the mappers. When a mapper asks a question like "Has my map been playtested at all?" they ought to get an accurate response. If they ask a question like "When do you expect to be considering new maps for inclusion?" they ought to get a response. If they ask a question like "When can I expect to hear about the prospects for my map?" they ought to get a response. This ought to be the baseline of politeness just out of respect for the mapper.

this would not be a problem for the mappers knowing WHO to send their maps to, ergo who has the time and the attitude to check all those incomming mails, although most of them will be "ns_myboxmap_*anynumber*". and WHO will take a deeper look at them and at least give an reply like "got your map. please be patient, it may take some time till you get an answer. thx for your submission and your dedication." and if anyone would tell me, that its the name of the map that makes someones head ache, then I would change it....
back to topic: dont have the time to work on the map this week and some easy areas like the exit of the "vehicle elevator" (ladders) take much time. thats why Im taking this long, Im able to complicate all the simple tasks <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> but I got some time *coughcough at school coughcough* to draw a quick concept for the alternate "the source" hive area. and nearly fell off my chair when I thought about what is missing in this mining environmetn. a BRIDGE. not to mention that this bridge will be completely infested on the hive end <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> but this will take... days, weeks, months...

lightning is little bit poor atm. take a closer look at te screenshots: on the left and right side of the elevator are ladders so you have to be a perfect target while climbing the ladder (like in beta 33).
this was a really hard one. spend 2 days on making shure the location makes sense. another addition is the holographic sign. a decision I made this week was to add this signs in some spots of the map. other examples?

signs indicating the vehicles status, number 1. still charging, number 2. ready for work. btw grizzly send the changed skin to me so we now have decent looking model. something I cant show properly by taking screenshots is the airduct leading through the garages in the ceiling. you have to see it to believe it <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

maybe I will have to change this a little bit. but this is the new entrance to the surface elevators (route from vehicle parking). atm its the only weldspot in the map. once welded the damaged door opens.
STATUS:
woah! another weekend ends... but two task out of four has been accomplished (nearly): new version of the vehicle parking including a fixed "vent" and a new version of the vehicle elevator. two missing: new crusher with connection corridors to other routes and the fixed res extraction area with an additional route to "the source" hive.
new textures had been added for the signs, seem to be little rough but this is something that will possibly fixed last. realness is working on some new soundfiles... and the dropship still needs a skin :/
second message to tyr nemesis had also been unanswered.

regarding to what tyr nemesis told me (after I got onto his nerves by sending a secon pm after 3 weeks of waiting): never.
but maybe thats what Im thinking. nevertheless - I dont quit work yet. I just DONT.
but its kinda sad: every time I check the servers the only custom "maps" are siege and boxmaps. not a single custom ns map in the cycles. only server with ns_source in the cycle is our own. always empty.
never quit the work until its done...

and is that all he replied to u "never.", thats a bit harsh isnt considering the amount of effort that goes into a map and especially this map far exceedes the quality of maps like nancy
I'd definitely have this map official than any ns_bast or ns_ayumi !!
I think we all should open a vote so the devs can see if the idea is good to make this map official =)

how can the mappers possibly kno that the devs hav looked at a map if they dont even reply to acknowledge receiving it, this is incredibly frustrating after putting so many 100s of hours into making a map.. and there wuldnt even be a problem if Tyr had pm'd Lt Gravity or me back to beginwith just to say hes looked at it but cant accept or decline any maps at the moment <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> and its not as if were submitting ns_siege here

anyways, when you take a look at the map I you will shurely agree with me that this is NOT a "ns/co_xyz_puttogetherinsomeweeks" crap, more likely a project that took 22 months so far. it would not have taken 22 months if I hadnt got a social life, believe me.

this would not be a problem for the mappers knowing WHO to send their maps to, ergo who has the time and the attitude to check all those incomming mails, although most of them will be "ns_myboxmap_*anynumber*". and WHO will take a deeper look at them and at least give an reply like "got your map. please be patient, it may take some time till you get an answer. thx for your submission and your dedication."
and if anyone would tell me, that its the name of the map that makes someones head ache, then I would change it....
back to topic: dont have the time to work on the map this week and some easy areas like the exit of the "vehicle elevator" (ladders) take much time. thats why Im taking this long, Im able to complicate all the simple tasks <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
but I got some time *coughcough at school coughcough* to draw a quick concept for the alternate "the source" hive area. and nearly fell off my chair when I thought about what is missing in this mining environmetn. a BRIDGE. not to mention that this bridge will be completely infested on the hive end <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> but this will take... days, weeks, months...
edit: just read your post moultano. only add one thing: exspecially for mappers that put TONS of blood and sweat into their projects. because some people dont feel well when thinking about their xx-months work is not even noticed.
