    You do realize that the LMG has a ROF of 10/1 right? and deals 10 dmg per bullet.
    If you have good enough aim you can kill a skulk in 9-13 bullets. Not to mention each lvl upgrade increases the dmg of each gun. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Yes the LMG has a cycling rate of 600 rounds per minute, and the HMG is not much higher either. Some rines somehow have a higher cycling rate, maybe an effect of speedhack.
    But the LMG does also spray, not every shot has pinpoint accuracy. I experience that often, that even in close combat skulks seem not to be hit by a whole bullet-rain. At least not if I have them in my crosshair somehow.

    But if I the skulk somehow some players hit with every single bullet and some even deal more than 13 damage per bullet (LMG with level 3 upgrade), and marines with level 3 LMG are rare in combat mode and also appear only later on ns_maps. Also some players never lose track on other, either as skulk or as rine,
    may it be as hasty and confusing as it can be. Also rines running as fast as skulks are found on some servers

    Yesterday I made another funny experience by biting a AFK Rine as skulk.
    I bit him at least 7 times. Due to the "chewing-chopping" sound I know I did hit him with every single bite, but somehow it did not affect him much, although he was not wearing a heavy armor. Even with Level 3 armor upgrade a rine with normal armor is not likely to survive 7 skulk bites. He did not have resupply btw. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    THIS! my friend, is called FPS!!
    WELCOME TO HALF LIFE! THE FPS BASED ON YOUR FPS!!

    If you have 200 FPS you better damn well believe you're gonna shoot an LMG clip faster than I will. I compensate still, I play with 30 FPS on average and I'm STILL one of the better players in the community.

    Please answer my very simple question in that quote the_move. Ignore the others and concentrate on me. Together we will find the truth in this case, whatever it is. That is if you want to find it and accept it.

    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    The fifth time I have to repeat this:

    Anything, which can not be set up regularly in the options menu is cheating.
    This includes overtuned brightness, binding 2 actions into one button (leap/bite), double/triple or what ever jump via button, etc. etc. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Yes, I clearly understand what is your vision of cheating and I could respect it, but what I would have preferred is an answer to the question that was asked below that quote, in my post, if you don't mind. I will ask it again here so it will save you some time finding it in the posts above :

    <i>You agree that a cheat or a hack must be considered so by the makers of the game, right? Answer with yes or no. Otherwise, nobody could claim to be in position to take this decision, do you agree with this as well?</i>

    To complete this question, I will now add the following : there must be a "supreme authority" in each game community that will decide what is intended in their game and what is not; this is exploiting while that is not; this is cheating, but that is allowed; this program is a hack, but that one is not. If there is none, then disagreements, like this one, will take over all the discussions and the community will be divided.

    This being said, I would believe that only one individual in the world should have the <i>right</i> to be given the title of the "supreme authority" and this person would be the one designed the game, the person who lead all his development team into adding this or that to <i>his</i> game.

    Do you agree with everything that has been said here so far, yes or no?

    P.S. This topic was sleeping during the downtime of the forum while we were in the middle of this interesting discussion. I hope you don't see any harm in awaking it. I also hope my interlocutor isn't gone.

    I'd just like to add my $.02 in.

    You can't say that scripts aren't in-game, because they are. If you go onto any server with mp_blockscripts set to 1, you know about this.

    If I bound my F1 key to join the marines and automatically exec a different .cfg for me with my rebound hotkeys (like special say_team messages, some of which are available in the keyboard tab under options), then I'd be cheating.

    Yep, you can't even do that.

    There's no excuse in saying you can't do that from the ingame menu. Yes you can. it's called

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->writecfg
    bind
    alias
    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Your logic is very flawed. Technically if I set my mouse2 key to jump and reload for me whenever I press it, I'm cheating. No I'm not. By the limits set by the game, I am free to do with my keys whatever I want to. I can bind them to whatever I want, and you have no right calling me a hacker for that. I can bind mouse2 "+jump; +reload".

    That's the same idea with the Formula One example. They give you specific rules, and it's up to you to learn how to use them. Teams <b>TWEAK</b> their engines, cars, and everything they can to perform successfully.

    It's an option set by the founders of their organization. It's a valid course to follow. It's up to you to exercise that right though. Some teams may not want to do that, but that's their fault.

    That is the same deal with scripting. VALVe and every other developer knows about making special .cfgs. They allow it, because the engine allows it. If they didn't want to allow it, they would either create something to stop it or abandon the engine. Heck, just look at Half Life's success. It is based on modifications by people, a more complex form of what we're doing. We're modifying our keyboards and mouses to what suits us best.

    I run a Pentium 3 600 mhz computer with a TNT 2 Pro graphics card. Now if you believe me that I'm not gonna use some special script to turn the details down of the game, you're sadly mistaken.

    And that's for me to enjoy the game that I really like better.

    [/beating of dead horse]

    Of all the threads that could have been resurected from the old forum, why this one?

    I swear to God there is a huge faction of this comunity that thrives on unresolvable conflict and nothing else.

    As far as I'm concerned let the damn scripters script! I'd rather play against scripters then hear people whining about how unfair it is. As long as special is disabled I'm happy.

    of course its possible that people hack on servers, just get c-d to stop the most angsty teens that cant think from their rage, and find some smart admins to deal with any other possible cheaters you might see.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->You encounter skulks, which never loose track on you during close in, although the bite animation should somehow hinder their sight to a certain degree.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Also the xenocide, which AFAIK should deal 100 damage to rines seems to deal far more when certain people use it. I got killed by 1 xeno having 100 health and level 2 armor (65). <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    On the other hand, some rines kill with 1-2 LMG bullets an seem having homing bullets which even hit when you already passed to corners, without having high latency. Also some of them are very sturdy, even taking 4 (non focused) bites and not being resupplied during and they still live on.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    also belongs in the "reg" area, see above. also, what fps do you usually get? (cl_showfps 1) i'm getting the feeling that you play on 30 fps or lower, that can be the cause you are missing some actions in the game.

    there are no servers dedicated to cheaters, i mean the point of cheating is to spoil the fun of people that aren't cheating...

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

    heh, the one server I played on had [m-y-g-0-t] j-0-e come in (name spaced out to prevent their forum whoring scanners picking it up)

    Well, he had the ability to run 100x faster than a celerity skulk (I mean he could cross the map in a SECOND on co_daimos... litterally, I timed him... 4.52 seconds total 0o) and his knife swung at over 5 times per second... and we still managed to rape him with stomp + devour XD

    Cheaters never win...

    but on the same token

    You ain't cheating, you ain't trying

    so... yeah

    In CS they made dedicated cheating servers... and all it did was get more and more people into cheating cause random ppl would go in, say "Hey, nice hacks, where'd ya get e?" and bam, you have a whole server full of cheaters where before you had like, 5...

    I don't know what scripts you see happening, but I have yet to see a script that does any of those things. The most complained about scripts are:

    A. Three jump scripts, which make jump timing for bunnyhops easyer and make pancaking much more possible for the lerk, but doesn't really do anything that can't be simulated by an increadible jump button reflex and is certianly equaled with the mouse wheel (which I personally think is the stupidest assignment for that input possible)

    B. Pistol scripts which work by causing the off click of the mouse to register as a keystroke as well... The stupid argument is that they still require skill to time, which I won't dispute, but it requires alot less skill to develop a properly timed twitch then it does to mash a mouse button 10 times a second and still keep your crosshair on the target. The fact of the matter is that the less movement on the mouse that has to be done to fire a full clip the easier it will be to keep the crosshair where it should be. I really don't like the pistol scripts OR mousewheel for rapidfire on the pistol... why do you people have make a semiautomatic weapon into a full auto?

    I don't really love either of these scripts, as far as I am concerned they are the 'problem scripts' of NS since most of the other scripts just juggle binds on the fly which I see no reason to dissallow. But the fact of the matter is, scripters are not hackers, and they don't deserve to be treated as such. If you don't like scripting fine, play on servers that block scripting, if you do, fine play on servers that do not. Nither side is right, the dev's are treating it as an issue of preferance and therefore it IS an issue of preferance, do just get used to it and play however you like to play.

    The dev team removed the ability to bunnyhop as marines and nobody complains about marine bunnyhop scripts, but ask them why they didn't do the same for aliens. Flayra had said a while ago that bunnyhopping was fitting the aliens nicely, but did he expect only the very few players who can bunnyhop with just their +jump space bar to beneficiate from it? Considering the relatively low amount of people who can do it, I don't think so.

    You are wrongly accusing scripting here. I'm not sure what is the rate of fire in the current version, but the fact that that limit has been added intentionally makes me wonder why the dev team wants it to be "full auto", as you say it. If not, why don't they just put the rate of fire to 2 shots per second? Blame them, not the scripts.

    Again, take it to the source of the problem. Don't like bunnyhopping or the low rate of fire? Suggest the dev team to remove them if that's what you wish...

    tis fun because i kill em all. regardless of whether you script, hack, or just plain sdfagafhgsdg, i kill em all. thats the greatest thing about ns. makes all of these things redundant. tis a great game this.
