<div class="IPBDescription">Oh Dear.</div> Microsoft has said it is trying to track down the people behind a pirated copy of the
forthcoming Halo 2 game.
A version of the eagerly awaited Xbox game has appeared on net piracy sites and
newsgroups, almost a month before making it into the shops.

Same Half-Life 2 rules apply here. (I.E Half-Life 2 warez = BAN)
So <i>think</i> before you post.

The most likely cause of the leak was a copy that was given to some group for a review/preview style thing (I doublt that Bungie was h5xed the same way that valve was). So if they did take a lead from the music/film industry, they have a digital signiture on each copy, thus knowing who leaked it.
and then some one gets screwed.

What, Bungie is impervious to hackers while Valve is not? Bungie is the one getting their paychecks from Microsoft right now, and we all know Microsoft's security handling.
I can only look at Screenshots. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (Not of the leaked copy, FYI).
Valve getting hacked was avery small chance, bungie has an equaly small chance.
However the chance of leaks happening the old fasion way?
I would put money on that over hacked any day.
They made some Mac games. Nobody hacks a Mac.
Cheap shot.
We can only hope its 3 gigs of nothingness and someone was just fooling around D:
I remember some one mentioning a gian torrent of g4y porn labeld HL2

<span style='color:orange'>Since you just got off a 1-day tempsuspension for talking about Half-Life 2 related piracy, you now get a 3 day tempsuspension for talking about Halo 2 related piracy.</span>
My cousin does now, so I can finally experience some of the Xbox's pleasures.
Of course, he thinks Outrun 2 is a load of rubbish. What a fool.
Wait..What if it was valve. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Don't worry - everyone else here thinks that too, the cusking fanks!
If only the Testarossa was an FPS!
tbh when will developers learn to store software on a secure system =/
i was really looking forward to it :/
I do. Getting my xbox softmodded and putting a larger hard drive in it was the single best thing i have ever done with my xbox, it is a hell of alot more useful as a media-center than as a games console.

Promote that man! It's fun for games at the moment, but as a media centre I'll still be using it for years to come.
Is soft modding the one you do with the James Bond savefile?

to be honest, i am not too sure on the specifics, but i will try and explain anyway.
Softmodding is the opposite of hardmodding, which is when you actually physically alter the machine (in this case, adding a chip).
To softmod an xbox, you need a copy of "007: Agent under fire", memory card, possibly a soldering iron/soldering pen depending on the version of the xbox, and the right software. You also need to know what to do with them (which i do not, a family friend did mine for me).
The finished product is an xbox that boots up onto a screen with several options, depending on what is loaded onto it. You plug the xbox into your network and it acts as another computer, but using your TV as a monitor. transferring data is as simple as ftping programs from your computer to the xbox and vice-versa. You can install many, many programs ranging from one of the many xbox media players to emulators (which are illegal, so i wont go into any detail). It is also possible to transfer games from a CD onto the xbox hard drive, eliminating the need to use a disk.
This is all legal, just like chipping your xbox, although it is easy to do certain illegal things with it...
Edit: That last bit was worded a tad wrong, but to clarify i only use my xbox for legal games and as a media center <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Normal emulators are NOT illegal, but ones compiled using the XDK are.
Obviously, it's not a hanging offence and only slightly more naughty than modding a PS2 or suchlike.

Yeah, just keep saying that. I'll see you in hell!
