Yeah, its a huge disadvantage, that you just cant scarp some parts of room, when you have to redesign them, only complete rooms. And then you have to move all stuff out to anotehr location if you don´t want to loose the money
I'm currently stuck on the 'find ingredients for super weapon' thing, w/ the 9 parts to grab. Theres' 2 I can't find anywhere :/
Can't go to a new island yet, and can't kill any super agents either. :/
I've got almost $2 million though. Right now there's only 8 foes (including tourists) on my entire island, though 4 of them are super agents :X
Anyone else have trouble w/ the glossary just not working? Like it tries to put all the text in the top left 100x100 pixels of the window, and just chops off the rest...

If soldiers get any heat at all, then they start blasting things. Unfortunately they also get stupid, and unarmed people, doors, the agents of other countries (not kidding, but it's not a good thing trust me) and occasionally tourists.
This is why it's basically impossible to have any traps/triggers/whatever except deep inside your base later in the game. Keeping the heat hidden, good social minion coverage, and trying to keep the global heat level down a bit are what you have to do. It's sad that there's all these things you can't ever use (outside traps of various kinds), but we're stuck with it until a patch.
yeah those agents are amazingly annoying. At one entrance I have some pop ups on the other one I have jets push them back onto the triggers for popups, more of a delaying tactic than anything else, really useful.

Many people have said that Evil Genius was a fun and nice concept, but that it was badly executed. I now agree.
I left my first island with 0 heat on all factions and nations and I only find myself on the second island to get raped within the first 2 minutes.
Within those first minutes two exceptional strike teams consisting of 7 guys each visit my island and shoot all my unarmed employees on sight, whilst in code green. That means that my playboys, spindoctors and valets, who are conveniently spread out all over the huge island, cannot get near enough to bring them to other thoughts because they simply get gunned down. On top of that Jet Chan pays me a visit and slaughters my minion population. Keep in mind that this happens with 0 heat on the world map with every faction. No base whatsoever, as it takes my minions several minutes to run around that huge island, even if you place the entrance near to the depot. And a nice bunch of uber-loot and doomsday items sitting outside for all to see, making individual investigators leave the island just to bring back more good-exceptional strike teams.
I've spent 5 hours re-trying the "start" of the second island 4 times, and this happens each and every time. On the first island I had all my minions retreat from the world map, waited untill my heat was 0 everywhere, no enemies on the island (only unsuspecting tourists), then sold everything that could be sold and evacuated.
If anyone has an explanation for why this happens under these conditions please do tell. I think the game is fun, it's witty, it's amusing. But there are several "flaws" if you will, that can really take the fun out of it. Especially as it's slow-paced and re-building takes a lot of time.
I seriously do hope that a patch will be released that will even out the irregularities. There is a thread on the Planet Evil Genius forums that consists of many pages containing bugs and game flaws suggested by players.
And that's not even mentioning the fps issues that power generator rooms cause on a machine that can have 3 times more than the recommended pc specifications. Not even talking about the effects of the second island that only add to these problems. If anyone has a tweak, please share it.
*phew*
Again, if anyone can think of why I get engulfed with specialist strike teams under presumably "safe" conditions, please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Until then I'm going to re-play the first island I guess .
Moving to the second island requires one immediate action: Build a long corridor, deep into your base to build off of. As soon as it's done, buy a few doors and drag all your loot deep into your base. Otherwise it will get stolen/generate heat, and that's not acceptable. Plus, it gives your guards something to do while the construction workers break out the TNT.
Until that happens you just need to murder any agents that get nearby.

Im just getting the last 3 doomsday things then i can move island, after a million attacks by about 3 squads of excellent agents and 2 super agents I locked the base down with sentry guns at the doors and walled off part of the beach with them too. It stemed there attacks long enough for me to make cash and re-organise my base.
for morale. i know you are supposed to drop loot in worker viewable places or something.. is the loot what you steal in special missions? how do i move that stuff around?
also, sometimes my workers leave briefcases of gold around.. how do i get them to pick it up?
ThinG, that's pretty wierd. When I moved to the 2nd island I seemed to have a 10-minute "grace period" in which nothing arrived on my island at all, not even tourists.

Be sure not to put them where any thieves/agents can get to though, loot items have high heat ratings. (Bless Jubei for wind walking and eviscerating thieves that managed to get a few of my items ). If it's still early in the game, don't hesitate to use your Evil Genius's mere presence for morale. He/she can take some beating and can always heal up at the inner sanctum. Plus, if you put him/her in a crowded spot to boost morale, there'll be plenty of minions around to protect you. Again, if you use a decent social minion system, your enemies won't get far into your base, leaving all your items and characters unharmed.
Dropped money cases/dynamites/research canisters do not get picked up again once dropped if I recall correctly. The best thing to do is not to interrupt your minions whilst carrying those items. Dropped crates (i.e. the green ones) do get picked up by a minion once he has nothing to do, he'll then prance along and drop the item where you wanted it.
And yes Nil_IQ, I've written it off as a bug as well. They boost morale for everyone that walks past them, so good spots to put them would be your control room (I have about 3 in mine), your cafeteria, your bunk rooms, any place with alot of people in it.
Re-started the first island with a completely different layout and having good fun again.

I've had a research cannister lying around my base for hours and hours untill I switched to the second island.
