I'm just about to start on the second hive. Any neat hive ideas? Now's the time. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Just like, an electrical maintnence place, wires coming out of walls, sparks flying all over the place, a couple of randomly placed circuit breakers on the walls, more to the low and narrow kind of place.
Another hive idea I have is Water Containment, the hive room is in a huge pool of steaming water, with large, solid (as in non transparent) walkways that all lead into a central, circular platform under the hive. Make almost all the light come from under water. An awesome idea for a siege room is an unbreakable glass, completely under water room, in which you have a perfect (angled) view of the hive, and its surroundings. The circular platform in the middle could also be like the top of a pump. And, of course, the water would not damage players. It's not boiling, just a little hot.
The cieling looks REALLY funky in this picture, change it up. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> You also should tone down the lighting in the lower left on that pic.
ceiling and floor are your big downfall here, its not just because the textures are scaled up. The ceiling is too low. Do something extra fruity with the floor aswell.4.0_
If it works you could try sinking in the central part of the floor section and making concentric steps into and out of them. This would be just awesome for Gorgeys to hide in for 1/2-visible structures.
For the ceiling, I'd sink in the squares, keeping the cross supports and adding a girder texture to the sides of them.
I added some girders (or whatever those things are <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) And tweaked the lighting.

Dead sexy, man, dead sexy. Just a couple of lighting things in it, the red light on the pipe, and the light over the nozzle is really blinding. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
