Fable Is

Kind of disappointing.
Ok, so I have only had the game 2 days but I find Fable to be a bit disappointing of a game. Let me state that I do not see anything that is wrong about it. It just doesn't seem to be grabbing my attention the way it should.
Right now it feels like I am playing a bunch of sidequests. The way they support the main story seems very disjointed to me.
1. the entire motivation for the main character is laid out in 5 minutes of gameplay.
2. You can grow up to be an adult in about 15 minutes.
3. The sidequests (which is what the game is made of) make no sense as to how they fit into the main quest. I escort some merchants here and there or protect a picnic from bugs and suddenly that leads me onto the people who destroyed my hometown? (no spoiler as its in the first minute of the game)
It is early and I expect the plot to evolve but right now its a bit silly. I feel like I am playing a MMORPG in an empty server. In fact, that is exactly how the quests feel like they were designed.
Morrowind was so open that the storyline felt incredibly real (or at least malleable by me) This just feels like I should be level grinding.
I dunno, I am going to keep playing it (it is still above average) and see how it turns out.

That is all.
I have to agree that so far the quests are a bit disconnected. Even when I ignore them to go cause chaos, the guildmaster reminding me about the quests is annoying after a while. I would assume through that later on you should find out the main plot/quests and you will become more independent without the guildmaster looking over your shoulder.(I hope)
Love the voice acting, it's delightfully British. I looked after some boxes for a scouser while he went to tinkle!
Robbie Williams's new single is ace and if you think differently you're just wrong.

I chastised him for taking too long, to which he replied "Calm down, calm down!" and then stole my wallet.
Does the 'flirt' action work with men?
Can I marry my wife then beat her?
Why isn't there a creature I can teach to hurl poo?

No. -_-
Ever notice real life is the EXACT same way? You don't realize you have a story till you try and tell someone about an experience. I myself find Fable liberating- not as a story-based game, for sure(though, the story is crap, the way its layed out is VERY well done).
I myself find the best feature being watching your character evolve, and grow. I've played the game the way I do life: I'm definately mischevious, but deep down, I'm really a good guy who always does the right things. Hence why I didn't even have to "buy" the status Chicken Chaser: They are all kicked off of cliffs!
But personally, I absolutely LOVE the combat system: Its like Kingdom Hearts, but hyped up. And you have to use more strategy than anything I've ever used in a RPG. Take down the casters, then the main folks, because the casters do AOE damage, and the regs just hit you. You can run from them.
Not to mention customizing your character is sweet. I'm a Speedy Warrior. My hits hit hard, hit often, and I can move faster than a Fade. In fact, I have a move very similar to 1.04 Blink: Assasin's Rush. And damnit, its fun. As is Blood Rush(you rush real fast at a guy, so quick, that the ground behind you catches on fire).
I'm loving this game myself. Then again, I loved B&W too. Maybe its just because I spend so much time exploring. I dunno - but frankly, if you like having a character that is YOUR CHARACTER- you'll love this.

Ah, the classic ruse.
Then there is something wrong with it, because it isn't grabbing your attention in the way you thought/hoped it would.

Ahh. Yes. That problem.
Seems like you used the strategy guide, that might be why it wasn't too fun for you.
Don't tell me you didnt, either. There is no way you could have smoked that entire game, and found everything already in the short time its out. I realise its short, but the absurd ways that some of the items are hidden is just...beyond unreasonble.

I used a strategy guide for some of the secrets, yeah. I have free access to it where I work, so when I got tired of just questing I looked to see what else I could find. But even theoretically saying I hadn't found all the secrets or used a strat guide, I would actually be done with the game, and be even more bored, because the main quests and sidequests are really freakin easy.
Also, it's not that it wasn't fun. I enjoyed it a lot, it's just that it needed about twice the playtime to be worth it.
Yea we all know that there is no such thing as a console RPG that can live up to its hype.
Kotor.
I never hyped Fable, I am enjoying it a bit more now. But I do get the feeling as if it were developed for 5 year olds and 30 year olds at the same time. The dialog is comedic in how childish it can be, yet it has a sex counter.
1.Not much variety with interacting with people. It seems very impersonal. You flirt, you flex your muscles...all the women look a like (or close enough alike) that you can't be sure who you're trying to woo.
2. The ranged targeting is **** me off. I'm surrounded by 15 hobbes and I can't target the one about to swing at me because the left trigger auto target wants to fly off to some guy in the back row...along with the fact I can't manually target them while moving around.
3. Not too much freedom in exploration for me at the moment. I can only go from Oakvale to the south part of the first town. I assume you get to visit the other two after doing one of the quests...but they should let you do it without needing to do that.
4. Manual/Tutorials could be more helpful...I'm renting out a house and it's been a couple of days and I don't know where to get the rent or how long it takes to get it.
5. Renown seems to build up way to fast...but oh well.
6. What is up with the aging. Sure, magic should make you age, but I've not used magic aside from the training part...and my guy is age 26 after 5 in game days. So apparently 1 day < 1 year ...whatever that's about.
The exploring is fun enough, but it seems a bit restricted (which will hopefully be remedied with a quest). Trading doesn't seem to be that efficient either. Despite all these glaring mishaps it's still so much fun to play. Now if only I could get to some new places and learn to trade better...
And to find the people who are completely in love with me...I know there's at least 1 .The one magazine is right though, failing a quest should drop your renown, not force you to reload...just drop the renown and be able to take the card again from the guild.

1. Totally agree. I want a wife I can know and love...not...whateverthehelltheyare. Thats why I'm going after Lady Grey! XD
2. I have no idea what your talking about. Targetting is relative to your left thumbstick: Whichever way its pointed when you press the ltrig, it'll target in that direction.
3. I was able to go everywhere right from the start. Try cutting down the big vine thingies?
4. Yes and no. I haven't rented/bought any houses yet...I keep finding cooler armor
5. The numbers get big, but its not that much. I'm about 4 hours in, and I'm only "Familiar". Thats like...super-low-totem-pole.
6. Um....yeah. Magic doesn't make you age in years, it makes you age in looks.
...and btw: Once you get to Barrowfields(I believe you've already gone there), you lose that feeling of closed-ness. Or at least I did, when I saw the entire small encampment before me.
I probably would have been willing to sacrifice a bit of graphics for the ability to walk through the bushes.

2. See, I'll try to target the hobbes and they'll be tons of them and it's always a pain to get the right one when you're far away from most of them and a couple are close...and I'm not sure how to get out of First person targeting - if you'd like to give me the button for that.
3. Maybe I forgot to go North at Barrow Fields (I think there's a north). Or maybe there's a path through the Hobbes Cave? I just got stopped at the Ancient Path or whatever it is outside of Oakvale on the Clifftop Path. That and I can't go North from Bowerstone South because I apparently need a permit I know nothing about getting.
5. Yea, about 3 hours in and I'm starting on the 4th block...or whatever you want to call it on the alignment screen. I'm sure it takes more and more renown to get higher, but Quests are also worth more and more renown.
6. It still stands that my character is 26 and only 5 in game days have passed. That's getting out of the guild at 18 or 20 (I forget which), so he's growing way to fast for my tastes in relation to game time.
Something I do like a bit is the stealing part...I don't have enough guile for lockpicking yet, but the stealing meter is a decent concept (although it takes a really long time, but I'd assume that's related to speed or guile). Pffft, now I want to explore more but I work in an hour.
Pffft again for good measure.
[edit] Forgot the most important thing:
Fable has a Puh-puh-puh-puh-pirate ghost!
...just short of the coveted Ninja pirate ghost scorpion.
