Rather than making a new unwanted thread about it, I figure I'll ask right here. Is sims 2 worth waiting for christmas for? or should I shell out the money right now?
[edit] sorry for double post, I didn't realize that I had the last word in here
Depends on how strapped for cash you are. If you can only afford 1 pc game in between now and christmas, I'd save the cash for Half-Life 2 in hopes that HL2 will be out before Christmas, which there is a small chance of.
You can build basements and up to 5 stories..but I'm wondering if I can build an apartment building. Some screenshots seem to suggest you can...but it doesn't look like it's actually possible to make it apartment-like with families having residences in the same building and only controling one at a time.
I suppose you could create a giant 'family' that consisted of numerous small families...but if you ever wanted to move them it'd be a pain, and the sims wouldn't be smart enough to know what's theres. So...any help with that?

Then the grim reaper walks up to him, brings out a clipboard, flips through it, calls a few people on his mobile phone and takes him away.
The fire effect in this game is MUCH better. When the fire started one of the female occupants in the house was swimming. By the time she got over to the fire the fire brigade had gotten to the house. It's saved to a folder in My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 by default. It's only really worth taking a large, high-res video with sound, though. Anything else is naff - I took one of the cooking program where the chef catches fire and dies, but it was useless because it was on small size. You can't make out anything.
EDIT: it looks like I misunderstood you. That's -3,500 to my aspiration meter.
I had a fire start in a house after my guy went to work. About 15 minutes after he left the stove burst into flames. It slowly spread while he was at work, working its way through the kitchen, to the living room - that's when he got back. He enters the house wearing his military fatigues...runs into the middle of the fire and lights himself up (...the phone had already burned away - so no fire department here).
After a few minutes of dancing while of fire he eventually keels over and dies and the Grim Reaper pops on down, flipping through his keyboard, and takes my Sim to the big transistor in the sky. Except for one thing: before he leaves, he goes back to the bathroom - plops down and begins taking a dump.
I read a story where someone was having a party, and the cop came by late at night to break up the party. everyone left... except the cop, who went inside and made herself at home. she stuck around for a few days, sleeping in beds and on the couch, watching TV, til she died of starvation...
Doom, that was great. I love you I need to try out the sims 2

When your social meter is uber-low, a pink bunny poofs into existance. Then, the sim with the low social meter can do any normal social action (including those of a romantic nature) to the bunny.
