Theres this thing we used to have back in the early, early NS days called skill.

Where we didn't rely on scripts to do a leap+bite or bunny hop. We just did it with our own reaction times and through lots of practice and fast moving.

    Try it that way.

Why is there a leap/bite script anyway? I suck really bad, but I've never needed one. It is not that hard to press q.

Block scripts is a server option, which is OFF by default.

If scripts don't work, the server admin purposly enabled it.

That's a rather <span style='color:white'>prejudiced</span> statement against someone that just wants to play with a different set of controls. I fail to see how binding my mwheel to jump and using an alias that has jump 3 times are that much different, or how one requires anymore <i>skill</i> than the other. As for me, I haven't really knowticed, I use mousewheel and I can't tell any difference, but I've had people tell me the skulk feels sluggish.

Scripting only blocks keys that are directly bound with ";'s" in them, they wont block an alias that issues multiple commands unless it has repeating commands in it.

If you want upgrade binds, do this:

    alias someupgrade "impulse x;impulse x"

Anyway - it requires more skill because you have to press the button 2 more times. You may think .. "oh, wow, big deal, it's only 2 times." But when is enough enough? When you can press one button and do five? ten?

It needed to have an end put to it and it did. I for one, couldn't be happier. And it's not a 'different set of controls'. It's pressing 1 button and having multiple commands executed at the same time. By you're logic, I could create a vast number of scripts, limiting my input into the computer nearly completely to make a nearly bot like gaming environment. Yea, sounds just like NSPlayers control settings here.

Why not just remove the wait command entirely? That way usefull binds will still be useable while jump scripts and such wont work at all.

    Oh how we laughed...

    Moving on.

Since when do you 'press' the scrollwheel multiple times? You spin it once in a motion similar to a single click or keypress.

I personally think using the scroll wheel (spinning) for attacking or jumping or anything else that might require pressing a key a few times pretty sad.

If you can't fire your pistol fast enough, practice till you get better or just be content with the fact you suck. I suck. I'm horrible at NS. Scripts are good, I would use the mwheel for bunnyhoping if I didnt already switch weapons with it. Blockscripts cant block any of my scritps anyway. Aliases for the win.
  • comradecomrade Join Date: 2003-11-30 Member: 23774Members
So has the new blockscripts actually been implemented or not? Because if you can get around it with aliases then it isn't much different to the old one.

Gosh darn now people with good computers can do things they normally can do whilst I sit here and suffer thank you blockscripts.

The timeing gets and feels much different when you're bhopping at 17 fps. Try it without +3jumps or mwheel. Tell me how much fun you're having.

Maybe if I were some rich **** who could afford a computer than gets 10000 fps, then yes, I wouldn't have any problems at all with this, but right now all it does is even the playing field.

I'd better get more skill (ask for a raise)

Viewing humans that use scripts as "scripters" I think places them into one group, and then telling him he's inferior because he "doesn't have as much skill" by using a simple script. I think that sets it up as racism, maybe that's too strong a word, I'm sorry if it is.

While I don't use any kind of bhop script, I just think it was rude to shoot a simple question down with "LOL IM BETTER I DONT USE SCRIPTS".
