It's basically, one jump from the <b>ground</b>, and one more from the <b>air</b>.
In other words, if you're wondering why you can't double jump sometimes, you can't jump twice when you're in the air(unless you pick up a golden arrow).
Anyway, so if you drop, without jumping, then you can only jump again.
So, to be able to double jump, you jump once from the ground, and another while in the air.

I wish I found this topic a long time ago. I'm pretty much the Jumper God... After about a year of constant jumping, I managed to beat the original Jumper with only 13 deaths through the entire game. I have a screenshot of the score page too. I'm sure some of you will cry photoshopped, but it's not. I guess I really have no way to prove ot to you. The first time I beat it though, I had 4,959 deaths...
Also, I achieved 100% completeness in Jumper 2. That was fun.

Nah, I seriously took a year minimum off from any other games to play Jumper non stop. I didn't even realize it until afterwards that I'd spent so much time at it. Now I realize that I was an idiot...
