    The mod is called "Off Limits".

    Here is the story:
    It started out with a few sightings in unpopulated regions. The tabloids were the first to catch on and spoke of a new species, ridiculed by the scientific world. But as quick snapshots turned into irrefutable evidence, sightings increased, and some were even spotted in our largest cities, both science and the military got involved. Mankind's fear of the unknown soon led to conflicts. That’s when we found out: they were invulnerable.

    They were few, and they were unintelligent. But no weapons known to man at that time could harm them. They only attacked when in danger and were uncoordinated, but human nature took care of the rest. For six long years, we threw everything we had at them. No conventional weapons, no biological, chemical or nuclear weapons seemed to have any effect, other than the utter destruction of our world as we knew it. For six years, all humanity’s effort was aimed at researching new weapons to meet it’s slow but irreversible demise. At long last, chance seemed to be on our side for once. In our darkest hour, rail weaponry was our savior, and the first kill was cause for world-wide celebration.

    Now, twenty-three years after the invasion, the balance is critical. We know now who and what they are. Based on the detection of several large objects in orbit, combined with the low intelligence of our nemesis, we believe they are no more than a weapon, set loose on our world by a more intelligent alien race. Their sole purpose is cleansing our planet of the parasite called man. But we won’t go down without a fight. A few dozen of them are left, though not too many of us either. Plasma weapons turned out to be expensive and rare, and only a handful of them are still operational. These are in the hands of trained containment teams, who penetrate the areas in which the aliens reside, areas off limits to all with a desire to live. There are those, however, who covet the rare plasma guns and their inherent power to decide who lives and who dies. These rogues will go to any length to take out the containment teams and thus betray their own race. Only time now will tell if humanity’s own greed and tendency to self-destruction will finally prove the end of our race…

    Interesting... very much so.

    camo.0 you are truly a king among men. Seriously though, you have some freaking awesome pictures there. I wonder if I could find any of those I could use as desktop images. I wonder if they come in the right size. (Besides the Greg Martin stuff, I have all his.)

    i found most of them through deviant art, and since i'm not a subscriber, i can't search for the original pieces. you can always crop them. i'm using the last photo as a wallpaper myself.

    notice: i just realized that the first linked pic is the same as the last one. gimme a sec to fix it.

    These things are used for surface mining. The pictures you got there are from Germany (notice that it says Krupp on the side, which is a major steelworks brand, which manufactured a big part of the weapons for Germany during WW2)

    I have an awesome geology book from the 70's...it's got awesome pictures...too bad I have no scanner here.

    <img src='http://www.museum.vic.gov.au/mars/images/mn000187_w401.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    Stromatolites in Australia...in the book there's a much larger, much better picture, but this and

    <img src='http://athene.as.arizona.edu/~lclose/teaching/a202/stromatolites.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    this illustrate it well.

    Shying away from the uneventfulness of geology (didn't like the geology class much, but volcanoes and geologic structures rock...), something more human made:
    <img src='http://hbear.altervista.org/Sfondi/slides/Petronas%20Tower%20by%20Night.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    Hooray for photography.

    <img src='http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/camoot/cloudship.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    By an artist who posts on Megatokyo forums. I tend to see spaceships in clouds ala Nausicaa of the Valley style (the movie), so I really liked this sketch <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

    not a big contribution, I've been running a little dry and haven't had time to browse DA or any other sites this last week (gg APUSH), so you guys will have to post stuff too *cough*.

    I really do recommend you take a look at his gallery, just a little note however that it may be Firefox unfriendly when it comes to clicking the thumbnails on the gallery, (at least for me).

    Most of his works are kind of twisted, but all of them are incredible.
