I work in a museum at weekends, and i gotta say it can be pretty boring at times.
However, from the whole museum this is my favorite painting. Human Frailty by Salvator Rosa. There's something about it, mysterious and deep, especially when you see it in real life, the painting is huge, central in the gallery and just towers above you.
This image is pretty small though and you can't see the detail properly if you like the look of it then the museums summary is <a href='http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/pharos/collection_pages/italy_pages/PD_53_1958/TXT_SE-PD_53_1958.html' target='_blank'>here</a>
Also theres a short but pretty interesting animation on the painting <a href='http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/pharos/images/swf/PD53-1958.swf' target='_blank'>here</a>
Anyway we don't really have many 'proper' paintings here yet, but in my opinion this is an amazing image...

nice topic. here's my contribution. I took this just yesterday and it's one of my favorites now. I've got hundreds more, but as this is new for me i thought i might post it. The image has not been cropped, that is true to the original photo's proportion. The flower itself is no more than an inch long and 1/2 inch wide. You see it from the half-inch direction. I guess some might not say it's "amazing", but I love it.

I know I specifically dissuaded people from posting screenshots in this thread, but I seriously think this is the best screenshot I have ever seen of any game. Its from the upcoming "Call of Cthulhu" based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. <img src='http://www.callofcthulhu.com/images/art/xbox/coc_xboxscrn_06.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
