Now that you've stopped oogling the picture, here's some of the good stuff from this article from GameSpy-
Maps that can SCALE DOWN in size depending on player amount, and present a much more focused environment.
Totally new graphics engine, not related to the newly announced "Battlefield: Modern Conflict" for consoles.
A fully updated and much more realistic physics engine, that may in fact change the way the game is played- realism=gameplay.
Not bad

The battlefield commander can play the battlefield experience in a different way ... he has the ability to see the game map top down and do such things as issue orders to squads, call in artillery strikes, order satellite sweeps, and communicate with his forces via VOIP.

Gee that sounds familiar. :P (actually they stole the idea from Team Fortress 2. Yes, this feature was announced with TF2 back in like 1999)
Its just so....
...Pretty!
bf1942 was awsome this looks 10x better
OMG!!! 9999 topic in off topic!
I'm a bit skeptical about the actual quality of the models considering knowing how large the maps are seems killer on a vid card.
Can you say , Generals?
GG Originality
That's better looking than most FF FMVs...
*wipes drool from keyboard*

I would like to see new countries involved like...: France, Italy and ....Bolivia?
As for urban combat sims, I'm waiting for Full Spectrum Warrior. That game looks fking amazing.

I looked at that screenshot and was like, "Wait, did they get the right game?"
The demo video of FSW took place in a town that looked really similar to that one.
I know Lets get Peru in it! So we lose! Yay!

sonic = Win
My thoughts exactly. Let's see, BF1942, Road to Rome, Secret Weapons, Battlefield Vietnam, probably a BFV expansion, BF: Modern Combat for PS2 and now BF2. All of that in about 3 years, reminds me of the Sims for some reason.

You call yourself a gamer and don't know about LOD?
The models have several versions of varying quality/complexity that they use according to whatever algorithm they chose for choosing which level of detail and they certainly don't draw the entire map at one time.
I dunno, could be good, I honesly doubt the EA team would put the time into makeing maps a fancy as the one in that screenie appears to be. but ya never know.
and you thought WWII games were in poor taste.
The Dice™ theme tune!
Cash Cow, Cash Cow,
BF's our Cash Cow!
You know you love to milk it,
Gimme cash, Cow!
Cash Cow, Cash Cow,
BF's our Cash Cow....
Baby you can give me dosh....
Baby you can give us dosh....
Baby give us alll our dosh!
Sorry, Dice aren't doing themselves any favours. Maybe they should spend some time fixing the original, rather than redoing the graphics and releasing a new game. UT2k4 looks twice as pretty, yet runs twice as fast. Go figure.
Note : I am not denying the BF games are good games. I happen to love playing them. Just there are lots of things that could be fixed, yet they don't bother.

Remember its EA, they only have 1 team of story writers.
Still sounds ok, but as we all know features get cut near deadlines....
