Not a chance. Well not in my book anyway . I absolutly hated BF:1942 it was laggy and boring, the maps are so big you run around for 10 min then get blown up by a tank. I have yet to try BF:V but I prolly can expect the same gameplay but only in a jungle now. As where TF2 will be fast and have interseting class system with special abilities plus its got the classic arcade feel to it.

guys, its made by EA. Did you expect them NOT to churn out expansion after expansion after expansion after expansion...then make a sequel? This practise is the only thing I know EA for.

I wonder what they exactly mean by scale down the map... Just shrink it up and down? That would mean that on small servers you'd be able to jump on places (roofs, walls) you can't go and on large servers go in holes you normally can't (cracks)

if anyone played mini-assault for CS, that's the sort of thing I mean.

Haha, no. They mean the radius of the map gets smaller and larger as people join. Not the actual buildings themselves.

I wonder how hard it'd be to make a mod like Cereal is talking about.

Yeah, and they condense the room in between buildings, too. It'll never get to the point of enemy base being 500 feet away, but it'll condense space well.

My thoughts exactly. Let's see, BF1942, Road to Rome, Secret Weapons, Battlefield Vietnam, probably a BFV expansion, BF: Modern Combat for PS2 and now BF2. All of that in about 3 years, reminds me of the Sims for some reason.

    how about no?

but seriously, Italy had its own game (Road to Rome) and France... well France never did tons of military fights worth of a battlefield: WWI was a static war (months fighting on a few hundred yards of land), and during WWII it was mostly resistance and sabotage here and there. I suppose colonial time wars and such could be part of the french military history, but... how to make a battlefield game with it?

Hell yes. I'm glad another has seen the light.

I own Battlefield: 1942 and Battlefield: Vietnam, and personally I think they both suck. The only time I ever play it is when I feel like spraying that AK in DC.

I bought BF1942 based on the awesome reviews.

It's the worst gaming decision I have ever made, and I am very selective when buying games, spending times on reviews and other players' opinions.

I seriously don't see what's the fuss is all about. Played it for 3 days, uninstalled, haven't looked back.

did you only play the first version? It got a LOT better after a couple of patches.

The AI is crappy IMO. They don't even TRY to get flags, and upping the AI only makes them hit better rather than developping a brain. Play multi, fine, but buying a game to catch flags all day long might be "one of those features that people really loved" but just doesnt do it for me.

    Out of curiousity...

You own Half-Life. Day of Defeat is a free World War II mod for Half-Life. It's got Half-Life's netcode and Half-Life's community and almost everything else Half-Life has, plus WWII themed stuff.

Of course, the maps aren't as big and there's no vehicles, but you only need vehicle because the map is big (or you want to score a lot of frags vs. infantry), and maps have different kinds of objectives.

    Free?

    Netcode?

EDIT: This is for BF1492, not BF 2

Yeah, I know what you mean. Philippines etc... but they did have a map of it... Battlefield: Secret Weapons Of World War Two was pretty funny cause they pulled out the jetpacks and they could "fly". They did use jetpacks, but they burned the back of your legs.
