First of all, don't get me wrong; I can't stand stereotypes.
He may well be a nice guy, but I'm fairly distanced and foreign to this whole "cosplay" thing, knowing nothing of the context it's simply humourous when I see it.

I'm under no illusions that my opinions will fade into nothing, anyone on these forums who thinks otherwise is sadly mistaken, but you really can't compare visting a forum a few times a day, specifically for the Mapping section (of which I do have something to show for myself) and dipping into OT to see what's moving and shaking, to fabricating a costume of a fictional fantasy character as well as a 'weapon' just because he has way too much time to frit away.

Now, please give me the context that I'm missing out on. Fair play to the guy if he's going to a fancy dress party, or if his mate is making some sort of art project or film, but don't tell me he did it for his pleasure on his lonesome, because I will find that depressing.

well... you've covered most of my points, but even going to the worst extremes, it's his life and who are we to critise? =3
Remember, some people will think the same of making maps for games. The whole 'too much time' thing is merely a personal opinion thing so it's always wise to see both sides of the coin before taking the mickey ^^

Getting back on topic and away from the cosplay ideology wars...

Yes, its real metal. And not just the fake decoration sword metal, but actual "you could swordfight, win, and hit a guy and make him die" metal.

Except for the fact that it's very thick, and so probably quite difficult to wield. Still pretty boss, though. I mean, I assume he didn't plan on using it anyway.

Well said Gem.
I want that sword! But it stil;l doesn't beat the life sized buster sword I saw in Spain. Shame I couldn't get it back into the country...

Airport Security: Anything to declare?

Well if you go to the blacksmith guy's page, he only does real battle-ready authentic swords, he doesn't do the fake stuff, that's what I was basing my info on. And the sword being heavy probably comes from the fact that the blacksmith does lots of claymores I guess.

Ok... since I have had a few takers with the whole Link thing. If you would post a picture of you in Link's outfit (real or not) I shall dress up like Zelda, for I do have a few Egyptian clothes lying around and not being used. :-)

Are you seriously making that? That'd be so boss. Can you make a Master Chief suit, too? I've always thought it'd be cool if, for some future single-player thing for NS, the main character could be a Master Chief knock-off type dude. It just fits so well, I think. You'd be able to do all the hero marine stuff that you need in single player, without breaking the story or balance or anything.
