    you guys need to coordinate so all these extra models are put together in one folder that all the maps link to otherwise we are gonna have duplicates of them for every map which is gonna take up loads of hard disk space and waste alot of time in downloading.

    Oh yeah, keep in mind that None of these are *actually* textured yet.
    I only threw on a temporary Rust/Metal texture just to give it some kind of color.

    You could engrave "nano sludge" on the pipework and stick them next to any resource node.

    Okay what I want:

    Pipes:

    1) Straight pipe - A short and long version. Then, make two versions of these, with it sliced in half down the center, so it can be smushed flat against walls. Don't overdetail them. Just a circular pipe with the little connecting joints every now and then.

    So you have four pipes: a full short, a full long, and a half short, a half long.

    2) Pipe elbow bend of a couple different degrees. A short quick 90 degree, or a long arcing one would do nice.


    Equipment: Noisy machines with moving parts, hanging cables and such that are draped and slowly swing back and forth, etc.

    I prefer the term 'nanogel'. Sounds more official than actually labelling something as 'sludge'.

    Brig: keep in mind that HL lights models very poorly... the larger the model, the less convincing it's going to look.

    Phyco, you could drop the polys a bit by using a single flat double-sided polygon for the wire, then using a masked transparency on the texture.

    For the hanging tv screens i think you should have some normal, but some that are just broken and hanging by cords

    and maybe if it is possible and animations to have them swinging slightly and a fuzzy screen for the skin.

    Hey guys, looks like the custom section has produced some amazing work again. nice on guys. i look forward to playing the maps with this stuff on..


    And about those Tvs, or screens hanging form the walls etc wud be cool to have them flicker on and off with static.

    Is it possible for like bits of a video to be played on them with static in between. Err let me explain. If anyone has seen Event Horizon, where they get to the Event horizon ship and go through the logs to see what has happen they find that pretty horible video of the crew, but they cant rely tell what it is because of the satic and poor picture.. something like that would be very cool, plus scary to the map

    What about small silly things like empty Frontiersman helmets, an empty boot near a vent, that sort of stuff? Not really bodies per se....


    Also, noone doing anything with transparency? Like seethrough map panels, or Aliens style stasis cylinders with research specimens in them? Dissected skulk?

    Just trying to toss out ideas here.




    Edit - yeah, monitor static plus some static noise would be nice!

    it doesnt replace anything its a world model that mappers should use
    and you can have it if you want its just if you make a map like that its not going to become a official map

    can someone make a pile of like empty marine helmets? or gloves/boots/armor? maybe put that in a hive location, like its the loot from all the marines the aliens have killed. now THAT would add some ambiance to the map <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I'm not good with modelling but I can hack things together sometimes, I think I'll try to make the pile of marine helmets.

    EDIT: Wow that was quick <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> I have a working single helmet model now and it's at the right position etc. I hacked it into the w_ammo model so you could rename it to that and see it in-game. It would sit perfectly on the floor when the commander drops ammo

    Just to clarify, why can't official maps have marine bodies on the ground? Is this for censorship reasons? (did I miss something or is the game not filled with dead marines anyway? Because I've killed at least one :))
