what new features are there now?
And indeed , let's all have a delayed start - so we have more chances to be grouped together in the Alpha sector , not spread across this cutthroat Core sector.
When is beta5 gonna start?
Make sure NS is in the front of your name... Like NS-Haze...we'll be astrowars biggest alliance.
There was a basic guide Marine01 posted in the other Astrowars thread <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56626&st=60' target='_blank'>here</a>, but with all the changes for this beta, I'm not sure how well that info would work. You can find some of the changes <a href='http://www.astrowars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5296' target='_blank'>here</a>.

Some people like to send ships off to a friendly neighbor so they can get an early player level and a Supply Unit. If it were me, I would do this with a system neighbor, sell the SU and buy Production Points to build some ships so the 2 of us could destroy the other 2 people in our system.

Thanks! I guess I'll try it out, and hopefully I wont get slaughtered. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
IS it ok if everyone starts on tuesday instead at 3:00? if we go at 3 on monday, we are, well screwed... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(yeah, i know all the stuff about Rana being competitive)
And 404, that's akin to setting yourself up for bunkering in, even before anything has started. Veeerrrryyy bad idea.
Try and do a 2 destroyer exchange ASAP, and maybe leech onto an alliance early.
I'll be taking it easy some 30 units away. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I've got it all pretty planned out...
Given the culture stats, you will pretty much always have all the culture you need... If you have such an empire that it takes much too long to get more, then you can just put some more supply units into it and get some money back for using a SU on an unpopular trait.
The attack, however, works for defence AND offence. It's a CV value increase. That means that if i have a CV of 1000 in a battle, then i just got a 1500CV. That's a pretty big difference.
Besides, being this close to the center is gonna REQUIRE some bunkering down. I like to keep a nice reserve of PP so if somebody attacks, i can up my starbase and reap the profits. I did this last beta and, if it wern't for some bad mistakes that netted me about a 100BS loss in the end, I would have been pretty powerful. I was in the top10 in level for a little while.
Last beta I had a culture of 13 and only 4-5 planets... That was a huge waste. Now i get -36% culture and +56% attack. While they may not seem to balance out, i think it will work pretty well. (though start-game expansion may be a problem... oops. i'll work it out, though.)
There no such thing as too much culture. All the waiting in this game is based on having enough culture to get another planet. Even in rana you should <i>always </i>be focusing on expanding. That's the best way to remain independant.

I think you don't realize that cybernets are the most upgraded by SU building. The people who win the rounds have the most culture and the most planets. How do they get it that way? They spend cash on SUs which go into cybernets. Only noobs boost robos to rediculous levels. All in all your cybernet should be your highest building.

I'm not sure if you'll live a week. <i>But </i>if you do, you'll be very tough to get rid of!
Sites not coming up though =(
I'm pretty sure at the end of last beta that Robotics Factory had the least bonus (zero) and I *think* research lab had the most.
Granted, i should haev taken small 8% hits in more categories.. oh well, I'll give it a shot. I'm a great defence player.. Beta3 i defended against almost 400BS and lived to tell about it.. and I had a mere 50 BS and a fairly valuable artifact.
Then Beta4 i defended against 4 people all ganging up on <i>me</i>. I think i'll give it a shot <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
