I swear some of you guys need to friggin' calm down. This model isn't that great, and I have a feeling the majority of you will be disappointed with the finished project. It's way too big to be practical in-game.

I said what I said because it really irritates me how so many of you are impatient, and want this model sooooooo bad. It's just a model for cryin' out loud. I finished the skin partly because I liked the look the model, and partly because there are so many people who absolutely need to have it or they'll go crazy. Just because it's a nice looking model doesn't mean it will suit gameplay effectively. With a model this gigantic, nearly 3/4 of the right side of a player's FOV could presumably be blocked out. I predict that this will severely hamper one's ability to see an enemy attacking from that side, and cause a great deal of frustration to anyone who chooses to use it. It may look good to everyone now in renders and such, but the practicality of its use in actual gameplay seems unjustified as of yet. I skinned this model because it looks good to me and would be a nice addition to a 3d graphic porfolio should I compile one, not because I thought it was going to kick **** in game.
Animators will have problems with clipping because of the models size, and the amount the weapon will block out the screen will cause problems for people who are actually trying to play well. I hate to ruin things for people, but all this model is, is eye-candy plain and simple. I'll be surprised if it will actually work out for people in game. Me being modest has nothing to do with how well this model will work out for people. I think the skin I've made looks excellent for this model even though the model will not serve to be impractical for the game itself.
Bottom line is, you guys are getting overly excited for something that may possibly disappoint you in the end. Thefore I'm taking pity on you for that.
The fact that we want it so bad should make you happy. I can see why you are upset about every one complaing and asking when it will be out. Just take your time on it and dont worry about all those impatient people. It is a beautiful model, be proud. and please understand that we dont mean to make you mad. We just really love your model.
like I said, I'm done with it. Anyone complaining to me about a release will find that I have nothing to do with it anymore. The project is in the hands of a couple of animators trying their hand at animating this model now. From my perspective, this model will most likely not be worth the wait because it is a mere novelty devoid of practicality. However, all your praise is heartily accepted, and I do appreciate all of you for your support. I hope this doesn't turn out to be a disappoint for you guys.
obscures the right half of the screen? hmg is overpowered anyway. I feel bad when I kill a lot of skulks by just looking at them.

what about the AWP in counter-shite
It does taper some, but it is a big weapon- hence the Heavy in the HMG. Even with the thick pad on the stock, it would likely be fired off the hip, hence the integrated HUD targeting system. At least, that's the view I think I'm going to go for. The texture is detailed enough I was able to "stretch" the clip a bit and make it taller without distortion. I've gotten it scaled and vetex assigned so far: On a side note, to Andersen and Bots: would either of you have a problem with me also using this mesh and skin in something I'm considering for UT2k4? I dont want someone else to ruin my enjoyment of this model. If you don't think it's right for you, dont use it yourself, but that doesnt mean take it back from being tantalizingly close! btw owen, dont ruin it for me either by **** off the modeller ok?
hey hey, move the hands more backwards so it's not near the airholes
hmmz, maybe we can create a sort of hot air sprite that comes out when reloading (like in Unreal2, when you reload that standard LMG it goes "Pssssssh")

screw the dam vent holes! your supposed to shoot with that thing in a computer game, not in real life. [insert what windelkron said here] it looks incredibly nice. nothig to add.
if this doesn;t get release on the basis that its not "realistic" , well then i guess half life 2 should not be release because there is really no such thing as pheromone hand grenades that bring hords opf ant lions too fight on your side, and lets forget about doom 3, zombies dont exist, oh, oh, oh.. instead lets just destroy all gaming equipment everywhere and forget that games even exhist.
Thats the kind of thing to say if you DONT want it to get released. He is already **** as it is. N

heh, some people dont quite understand the concept of sarcasm. I think that the gun is quite long, but maybe it can have other purposes, say a turret (lower polies, of course). Lets all remember that its just a game, so realism doesnt have to apply to every factor.

I really hope you lowered that to under 1000, it is a collection of boxes FFS.
More for a mech mod of some sorts, its just too freakin huge for the hands.

the gun is too long for a FPS, it won't look right
dunno, but it's the AWPs barrel that is the long part, it doesn't have the same effect as a whole thick gun

Select the front vertexes and scale them by x - 1.1 y - 1.1 and z 1.3
Then move forward accordingly.
Might not work too well, but it does work.
