Why Ns: Combat Rocks

I'm tromping down a tight corridor in heavy armor with my mates, racking shells into the breech of my shotgun and heading for the hive. The overhead light strobes and suddenly they are there-- the skulk pack uncloaks and launches towards me, screeching. The ceiling, floor, walls, everything, covered in skulks. A grate blows off the vent to my right and skulks pour out. They're falling in a pile at my feet, two or three shot-shells a piece. I duck to give my backup a clear firing line and reload. My resupply upgrade drops medpacks and ammo as fast as it can and my HUD is going crazy racking up kills. A message flashes rewarding me for the engagement. I've just made Commander. Then I'm the only marine left and the skulks keep coming, the dead still piling up but my gun nearly empty. I fire my last shell and try to reload but now the swarm flows unchecked over me and everything goes black.
NS: Combat magically captures my favorite sci-fi moments. In NS, you're fighting over strategic points. In NS: C, you're fighting for survival. Both sides are capable of wielding overwhelming weapons and the tight maps throw you into constant conflict. The upgrade system captures the addictive gameplay of an RPG and makes you hunger for experience points to buy the next big toy. It is worth the wait!

I am but a skulk, but even a skulk can kill a armored human when you are strong enough.
They are so close you can hear them walking and shooting wildly, hoping to hit our cloaked brothers. I upgrade quickly, knowing I'll need as many Defensive upgrades as I can get to help stop the coming storm. The webs start going up, the fades are waiting around the corner. I move in and hug the ceiling, "hachachac" I chuckle, they can't see me but I'll right there in front of them. My sound makes them uneasy and they fire randomly again.
RAWR, the onos decloacks and the fight has started. I know what I must do, Use my focus and bite as many as I can. Even the walking metal ones will die soon enough. BANG, BANG, loud sound from there fire things hurt my fellow kharaa and the hive can fell them die. I chomp one and then another, he dies and I feel my self get stronger.
"AHAHHAHAHA"
I feel the pain as they hit me with there weapons fire. My life is getting low, I have only a few seconds before they will finish me. I know what I must do.
Kamakazi is the last resort but I die proudly for the HIVE.
My Focused attack will increase my death 10 fold.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAA" BOOOOOM
In death I live on, taking 3 of the low class humans with me!
We are able to stop them again, but they will be back, and much stronger!
I leap towards the exit to the room our hive has chosen as home, surrounded by five of my brothers. We swarm through the gates, jealously fearing to seperate from the others lest the others gain food and we not be around to share it. Around the bend, and then up the walls where we lay in wait, knowing that eventually meat must come.
We can hear them, walking around, talking, performing strange rites with the cylindrical object in their base, but they do not yet approach. I drop to the ground and laugh, aiming a parasite in their direction, missing with the first but hitting with the second. Shards of metal peirce my hide, and I just out of the way, behind a wall. But now they come. Three-- four-- it matters not. Chasing after me, they neglect to look up, and my brothers fall upon them, tearing them limb from limb in seconds. Though I did not get to share in the slaughter, the carrien they offer is sufficient, and I grow stronger...

HONESTLY people! In combat, you DON'T NEED TO HUMP THE ARMORY! EVER! In fact, if the armory didn't exist, you'd have NO LESS CHANCE OF WINNING! When the aliens take out the armory, IT DOESN'T AFFECT THE TEAM!
Why?
Because after gaining a SINGLE SOLITARY LEVEL you can upgrade resupply. Which ensures that you will NEVER RUN OUT OF AMMO.
And if you kill just two aliens, or are in the proximity of others who kill them for you, you will gain that level.
Strange rites indeed.

the armory has two purposes
a) protects the cc, by way of skulks eating it first
b) sexual pleasure

Minor usually means no credit card and no checking account. You could do a money order, but that's such a waste.

It was kestrel. Game had just started a little while ago. I had left spawn the back way in hopes of sneaking into the hive unnoticed. A skulk drops down from above and I quickly unload a mag into him. Wounded, I sneak off to a corner in hopes to reload before making an attempt to head back to spawn and rejoin my team when I hear another skulk around the corner. I check my weapons and move out. I turn the corner and there he is. I unload 20 bullets at him and he goes into the next room. I follow only to find that he wasn't alone. I jump madly while unloading the other 30 bullets. I see them below me franticly searching for me in hopes of killing me while they can. I pull out my pistol and shoot off a clip. One dies while the other is still jumping and biting franticly. I am without the time to reload, the aliens have respawned and more would be coming. I pull out my knife and start to crouch jump. I land 2 hits, then 2 more. I glance at my health. One hit and I'm dead. I land in another slash and the skulk goes down. I sigh and head back to base with 20 hp left.

This is a good healthy sign.
If it's unbalanced, that is because large changes are being applied. And this is the proper way to PT any game.
I thought he was a bit busy programming a mod for HL <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
