and CWAG: haha, welcome to my world: I'm terrorizing all the newbs I can get my fleet on... I started sending it around because I was HUNGRY for SUs when they skyrocketed to 1500 astros...

awesome, okay, thanks, ive got a few planets left before i run out <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

i... hang on. no i dont!!!

ive got the max number of planets

    damn <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

ive got 6014 @ 87pp/h left till my next culture level, which is 69 hours, or 3 days

    damn =/ =/ =/

i wish the culture system worked differently, as i suggested here...:

    CULTURE:

    Remake of the culture system:

Have culture levels relate only to that specific system, and how many planets you can take, also how far away your ships can travel in the system before you lose track of them, or something [Storyline: Maybe they mutiny? hehe]. Then, when you want to colonise another system, you have to build up a different version of culture, to allow you to travel to that system. Then you can go there, and you have a culture level for that specific system as well.

This way it's a lot easier to get a lot of planets in different systems, but harder to wage war and colonise in a single specific system... Thus increasing your involvement around your part of the galaxy, and decreasing your domination of the star system, allowing for others to grab a piece of the pie, as it were.

Another idea, different to the WORMHOLES/WARPHOLES, or STARLANES, is a WARPDRIVE But it can be used as well as those two things, instead of replacing it. Basically it works how you think it works... It's a huge, powerful ship that can warp a relatively small fleet halfway across the galaxy, into a randomly selected part of a sector [i.e you tell it to go to a group of star systems, and it chooses a star system randomly to warp to]. it is slow to start up and slow down, but the warp is instantaneous. You can also not use it until it gets out of the system, i.e in open space [or maybe from a starlane!]

Arg im ****, I sent a colony ship to a planet, but one hour before it got there another guy from my system landed there, I'm sure he only had a colony ship there too, but he doesnt have the culture to take the planet, so it got that red stripe thingy, and when my colony ship got there (with enough culture to take the planet) I got the "Your attacking fleet was defeated" total crap.
  • eedioteediot Join Date: 2003-02-24 Member: 13903Members
CWAG!! I'm sending 2 colony ships to planet 12 in your system... do you want me there or not? Do you want to keep it all for yourself? Because my culture won't be high enough by the time it gets there [not by a LONG shot] so if you don't want me there, tell me, and i will get rid of them

I'm...dead. I sent this one guy attacking me an e-mail pleading for my life saying I'll bribe him with everything I got if he backs off...

...but really I think I'll just stab him in the back with my 1000 production points and make a massive fleet as fast as I can. I doubt he would let me live after I bribed him, anyways.

Ha.ze, take all your pp, convert to astrodollars and donate to one of your NS bretheren, then restart. Once you get into your position, there really is no option but to start again. Its disheartening, but you'll be amazed how much better your second empire is compared to your first.

Well.. er... I've pretty well got my galaxy locked down except for people in alliances with me.. but people in surrounding galaxies I think are a tad bit stronger. Right now my plans are just to sit back building up a fleet letting the other people duke it out.

I dont wanna fight anyone. I just want peace, really. I was planning to have a nice, huge butt peaceful empire, and only fight for defense. Oh well, I'm just gonna make a new name ns_haze. You'll catch me there hopefully, after that I have to go to bed.

And yes, that incredably altered quote of yours rocks. No respect from those devs, I tell ya, no respect at all.

Maybe I'll find one of ya guys to hang around so I dont get my booty kicked.

Alright I am really, really furious now. Today I find out that you guys dont actually get a referral bonus by signing up as a referee at all. So I'm really sorry about that, but thats not what I'm angry about. That ungrateful #@!^%$!#$^ $#^@^! #!@@#$#$#% who goes by the name of Uranium 235 had the gall to post this in the AW forum.

Frankly guys, I think you're all a little bit jealous. And believe me, you shouldnt be. My referral bonus is insane because I put a little thought and effort into introducing people to Astrowars. It gives me SQUAT ALL advantage, 127 a day is dirt.

And no, I wasnt silly enough to put my referal link in my sig, people want to know what the game is about before they sign up. I made a thread in another forum, explained what the game was and why I loved it, and it progressed from there. I gave them the option of helping me out a litte via my referal link - and roughly half did.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with referal bonus that high.

    Actually, you said Quote:
I can refer you if you like Click Here to register as a referral and you will get a very small bonus

You lied to everyone. Where's my bonus? I think you owe everyone from the NS forums a huge fistful of PPs. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

My response was very flamey, but it was as follows.

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->At the time of writing that, that was EXACTLY as I understood the game to run. Offensive has since explained to me, after reading what you just said above, that that is not the case. The only person who benefits from referals is me, and I will edit my post accordingly. So I apologise - but I resent in the extreme the claims that A) I lied, and B) That I owe anyone from NS ANYTHING. I introduced you people to a game that I was in no way an expert at, but that I really enjoyed and wished to share.

I didnt charge you a damn thing for it, and the culture bonus I got from it is so small it barely counts, specially at my level of culture - AS I STATED LATER ON IN THE POST. Someone said "Geez Marine01 must be gettin heaps of culture" and I explained to him that no, I wasnt gettin THAT much culture, and the real reason behind my sharing was that I enjoyed the game and wanted more people to play, especially with the people that I know in that forum.

I expect, no - I DEMAND more credit than certain ungrateful so-and-so's are giving me. No "Thanks for showing me this game, it rawks" - just insults and a demand that I pay you back. I owe you nothing kid - back to cs for you.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So I am sorry that you guys arent getting any bonus from being a referee, but I will not tolerate claims that I deliberately mislead ANYONE.

    Are you reading this Teflon?

You need to research your energy, since it must be taking you years to get anywhere. Get ready to send your second colony ship in the 7 hours until you get culture 4. However, if you are colonizing up in system IDs in your system, you might want to save up 151 PPs to be able to use the spend all points function, and give your new planet a huge boost. Other than that you're doing well. Do you have any allies in your system? And you forgot to mention your coordinates.

Yeah thanks, I'll build another colony ship tomorrow and send it out to #11 planet in my system (the other is going to #5) So I figure they will land about the same time and then I'll have the 151 PPs saved up <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Keep a very close eye on fts, and if he is definately active - then I'd seriously recommend PM'ing him and asking for an alliance. It way easier for the two of you to share then to battle it out for SS domination.

Epidemic - colonise planets 11 and 12, and then start moving downwards. When you start moving downwards, do what transmission suggested and use the spend all points function.

i want to upgrade my planets so i can support my war movement better... however, even at the pretty much maximum crank-out-age, my 11 or whatever planets would only crank out 290 PP per hour... and thats being optimistic.

so what am i supposed to do... thats 26 battleships only after 2 days of saving up [48 hours]... =/

it just doesnt seem worth it, especially when you need about 100 battleships to win a battle nowadays <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Its camping time eediot. Start building up the industry, and look for nearby star systems that you think you could possibly colonise. Especially one a bit more coreward, that way when you do colonise, it will become your spend all points planet and you can have it heavily defended in mere seconds after colonisation. Always pick the highest free planet available - ie planet 12 is the best. And then just build build build. Or consider investing in some artefacts.

Just had my entire fleet destroyed, my planets under siege by massive fleets, so I restarted.

    I'm in the Beta quadrant!

Goin for Robo fac (whatever I can get) and at least 1 Gal. Cybnet before I go crazy, so I have the culture to expand almost instantly.
