The point of this thread 30 pages ago may have been exactly what you say. Now it is for us mapper's to discuss things amongst one another and for reasonable suggestions to be made. It's not a "I like Nancy.", "I Hate Nancy." Thread.

Please keep your comments to yourself, it's that simple. I appreciate your cooperation everyone.

Im not saying I hate Nancy, or dislike Nancy. I've already stated I still enjoy playing a goold v1 game of it, Im just suggesting that Nancy be saved for another day. Patience is a virtue.

I still don't understand what your point is? If the author wants to see his map back, and most of the community does... what makes you say nancy shouldn't be brought back? It just makes no sense at all, and so far all of your reasoning has perfect counters if you just READ the whole thread.

And I can just keep going ON AND ON about how you make no sense. Where does "Patience is a virtue" come in AT ALL? This has nothing to do with patience.

So far your only argument that hasn't been countered is that the half-life engine is outdated. So why don't you make a big post telling all the mappers not to map because of this?

Come back when you have reasoning that makes sense for a half-life mod not half-life 2.

No, its not the point of the thread. Read through Lazers opening.

And thats also a counter to your post up above mine.

Lazer said this is not going to be about if people want it to come back or not, but rather if people are willing to help him.

Stop, now. I do not agree or disagree with you, I am also NOT flaming you. I am asking you a second time to discontinue your posts in this thread if they are related toy our previous posts. It is benefitting no one and simply adding to the clutter that this thread has already attained.

Kindly I ask you to discontinue posting about your theories in this thread. It is of no benefit to anyone and that is why I am asking you to stop. I do not appreciate your lack of cooperation so far but I will Thank You very much to do as I have just asked.

And that goes for everyone. This thread really has no use now as the map is almost completed, therefore all conversations about what should or shouldn't be done are irrelevant.

    Thank You,

It's still not all one piece. It just looked more impressive built like the 'fishbowl' obversation booth I remember from one job I worked in a NOC at. Hmm, thought about the fishbowl: What happens if you separate the glass by 2/4 units and show the support bars there? I like the general effect, but the junctions between the panes feel wrong for some reason. What does it look like with a panel or two broken out?

I'm not even sure if that part of the map is done. I still have yet to open OneEyed's part of the map. I'll be getting to that tomorrow/weekend and hopefully I should be able to tie everything together by the end of the weekend. The vent system will be worked out once the map is done, and then any final tweaks and a few private games just to make sure there is no big errors will happen during the week. I hope to get this done by next weekend or earlier.

The problem is, your 'point of view' is dead wrong. Your stated belief, that the author of nancy doesn't want to update it because they're happy with the 1.x version, is incorrect. DevilDog lost the original .RMF and .MAP files in a hard-drive crash, and he is being fully supportive of our efforts to rebuild Nancy again, having assigned primary control of this project to Lazer.

So kindly stop pushing your unwanted, unwarrented, unappealing, and uninformed opinions down our collective throats. Nancy is being rebuilt with the author's permission, thanks, cooporation, and enjoyment, hon.

If I 'seperate' it by a fraction of a unit, Skulks get stuck on the support pillars before the glass is broken out, inside and outside of the fishbowl. Note, from the outside, the pillars are VERY visible, the glass panels are only 'seamless' inside the fishbowl looking out.

As for a panel or two broken out, just remove the block of glass, it's pretty straight-forward. :-)

Anyways, on with updating so DarkATi and Lazer and OneEyed know where I'm at...

I should have Port Engine Room hive rebrushed by friday afternoon, then I'll roll everything together and kick it back to DarkATi to re-adjust the lighting. Just make sure you either use -dscale 1 -scale 2, or if you don't mind rebuilding the .rad file one last time, DarkATi, -dscale 1 -scale 1 . =^.^=

here I'll get it back on topic:

things are looking great guys, only prob i have is that window into Aux gen, i don't much like the fact that its all glass on one side and the supports are all on the other. I think it would like much better imo if they were separated like before (though everything else looks great, especially the changes made, I always loved Nancy but it was such a "tight" map room wise) keep it up fellas and dont let the h8ers get ya down. I very much look forward to playing this one soon

*rummages* Okay, that's a valid point, the only issue is that it makes keeping them breakable, without having skulks get hung up on them, difficult. I guess that's a relatively moot point though, as they get torn out very soon after the map starts anyways, so I'll thin the glass a little so the supports are directly visible from both sides. It okay if they're still 'thinner' on the inside edge, or should I go through and re-build the support brushwork to be 'equal' thickness on both sides?

well i was thinking instead making how it was (large middle one small side ones) making each window the same size with equal support on each side. I dunno its just an asthetics thing really.

*edit* they dont HAVE to be breakable tho that was sort of a ritual on nancy ask seraphicx from sYn

*edit* (always having to do that) i dunno but maybe since its so close to a hive and to "add" a little atmosphere maybe have one of them windows already broken or something? i cant remember or not but maybe it'd be kinda cool to have infestation kinda coming from a crack in that corner (the corner with the stairs up to that hallway) and breaking the glass or something? im not much help i guess heh

Ah, hrm... that would be a rather complete re-building of that alchove to accomplish. As it is, the 'large middle pane' is almost there just to support Oni running out of the hallway, which is also why it's breakable. At least, I THINK Oni can fit through the current window I have there, I'll have to check. I know I've enlarged the 'side' windows enough for smaller classes to fit through as well, so no more 'window BARELY too small for a Skulk to squeeze through and get stuck on instead' nonsense. =^.^=

Update: Okay, if you're happy with that, forget about any further changes. Editing previous post instead of making a new one to stop the uber-leapfrogging, as nice as it is for my post count. =^.^=

Okay, Port Engine is cleaned up now. I merged it into the rest of the map components, and made sure there were no leaks, etc, etc.

And yes, 'skulk clipping' is in place. Though I have't TOUCHED Port Engine with skulk-clipping along the 'braces' along the outer walls and ceiling, nor do I think I will, mostly because the brush geometry required to 'skulk-clip' those areas would be very difficult to create accurately without rounding errors in the final compile, and thus, more clipping problems. :-) Light fixtures, the 'smashed in door' and such ARE skulk-clipped though, just not the bracing.

    Just a tip for port...

Make sure you incorporate some kind of nobuild behind the smashed in door.

Marines have been known to exploit that by building a phase gate and sieging port from there, but if it's been fixed before I opened my big mouth then thats alright then
