I did toy with shapes and so on, and different fonts, but they just looked too over the top. I settled with a nice simple thin font with a gradient and feint outline and i think it looks cool, just looking for backup in that fact before i adopt it as a common font throughout the map.
Kharaa door, I have a suggestion on it. The door in the back should be slightly broken open with green light shining through. That would be neat. Other than that it looks great, dont forget to add stuff hanging from ceilings.
[EDIT: Btw, Ha.Ze, i took some of your advice, the door is now busted open, there's green light's shining through and also some sprite flares that at a distance appear like a fog / haze which makes the light look even cooler. Cheers for the suggestion. ]
...or maybe just sit back and watch hell break loose.

Just so you know, in the first shot, the text you can see on the far wall, it says the following...
"ns deus ns_deus, created by ::esuna::.
Additional texture work done by enf0rcer.
All other textures, sounds, additional skins and models created by ::esuna::.
Thanks to the entire NS.org forums community, you guys both inspired me to create this map and through constant great feedback, pushed me to proceed when i would have otherwise just got bored. Many thanks to all of you, i am forever in your debt.

Just a quick update, i very roughly knocked this environment map together last night for the map, it looks ok, but if anyone can give me some help with making space environment maps, it'd be appreciated.
[EDIT] The nebular i used is based on the Rosette nebular, but i played around with it's shape a lot because i really liked the colour and ended up with that. In the story it's known as the "Aka" nebular. Cookie to whoever knows what i mean. [/EDIT]

Yay!!! My idea was used!!!! Now we need an easter egg devoted entirely to me just for that great suggestion, yes, my pengain avatar hidden inside the level in somewhere so dastardly only I would check.
Weeeelllll, time for a little update. I've decided to continue working on the map behind everyone's backs for a little while, so no screenies, but i've stumbled across a little problem. Y'know the mapping guidelines suggests 4mb of texture memory, or whatever. Currently i'm running at 8.6mb. Needless to say right now all i'm doing is optimising.
that.... sucks man, gl with it though

I've been advised to up the max texture memory, but the NS mapping guidelines suggest 4mb (what it is now), so dispite the stupid amounts of work, i'm going to optimise as opposed to just raising the bar and leaving it as is.
It's VHE that's presenting me with the figure of 8.6mb however, since CSG doesn't want to tell me.

Good luck on the map, looks great. If I were you in the skybox, add some "not-so-distant-stars" so that they are *very* small circles, just not tiny dots. Would really show the fact that your out in space and no one is there to help ya. And is it possible to make the skybox...turn? That would be major cool, then you could have astroids or something in there too.
Good luck.
[EDIT::] Also, for the skybox, dont make everything realistic, if it looks cool, put it in there. Dont worry about it being all cluttered as well, you still have to test it on the map and every window should have some object other than space in it. Has to be tested ingame, not out of game, dont worry about clutter.
