<div class="IPBDescription">That's gotta be some strong ****</div> I was just wondering if webs is changed in anyway for 1.1. Right now I feel that webs are really too good vs ground units, however vs a JP with a welder they're useless. The really rediculess thing is how a gorge can catch 3 ha's off guard and finish them off by keeping them welded and wait for backup. I mean c'mon those servo powered armors can't be hindered by some webs, at least not that easilly.... <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

that's just insanity if ya ask me . i mean, that is a bumload of cash to drop without taking into account the coutners for it.
warning Star Craft analogy : it's like sending 50 zealots into a nice line of firebats and 10 sieged up tanks. units in NS, as in all RTSs, need balance!
just as the gorge who can web these heavies up cannot do it alone (needs lerks, skulks, fades, wahtever) so to the heavies need supporting classes (jp or ha/gl, or welder squire).
If you mean the HA/HMGs should use welders to take out web, your right, but it's exactly how the kharaa want it to go. When you take welders out and "ditch" your HMGs, your basically lerk-meat due to the slow speed of HAs. Hive heals nearby aliens very fast and if gorge has put up like 3-4 DCs and a couple of OCs under it, they can get health back in an instant. You can't deliver enough damage with welders to kill them and if you take HMG, they web you. They always try to separate one HA from the group and then he is in trouble. If some manage to take out their HMGs and not get webbed, umbra will protect the hive and the aliens for some time for gorges to notice and web. It's really a hard counter for HA/HMGs and only way to counter it is to have a GL. Just one, one silly 33 RP GL in the hands of an avarage player could save you about 300 RP... I've seen this happen 4 times (that I specifically remember, no idea how many times it has happened without me realizing the pattern) so it's real and not some theoretical conclusion. Might be that the HAs would need more coordinated teamwork, but this happened once when my team was full of clanners (other team too though) so don't know...
Muhah ... I managed to block/lock down 3 HA's only backed by a small WoL for long enough that a skulk could finish them off all three. You can lock down about 3 marines if you have adrenaline. Doesn't matter if they have the welder out or not. Of course, if one of them had had a GL, they would have owned me. But commanders don't drop GL's enough.
Web as a hive 3 ability ... well, basically all hive 3 abilities are frills. 19 times out of 20, the game is decided by the hive 2 combat abilities. Has to be that way - if you needed hive 3 to win, the marines would just relocate and block hive 3 abilities from coming into the game.
So basically, in 1.1 web is going to be of as much usefulness as babblers or spores - a neat way to quickly end an already won game.
This, the carapace nerf and the decreased res flow for gorges (meaning you can't build healing stations anymore) is going to make the battle gorge an 1.04 memory only.
I understand if this was a suiciding marine with no help, no communication to team, but for 7 to be stalled by 2 gorges is just idiotic...What are the marines doing? butt ramming one another to be stuck 1 by 1..Its either that the gorge is REALLY smart and GOOD or those marines were all morons

Maybe you should read the topic once more to find out how... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Of course I was refering to 1.1
When you get the third hive up webs become a very useful ability that the gorge has to use. The ability makes the gorge some much more useful to support the offensive and to defend.
The "battle gorge" actually is more viable in 1.1 than 1.04. You'll see in due time
Noone forces you to read the topic. Simple as that.
What is the problem ? The marines you discribed must be awefull idiots ... Send a HA with welder in front for the webs ... weld him by the second ... and all the rest gives the gorges what they need ... <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

then no-one you've played against knows how to gorge tbh, shoot the web straight at the HA, EVEN IF HE HAS A WELDER OUT and the web will form ON him, he will be webbed. THAT is the imbalance with webs if you ask me. I can deal with having one heavy out front with a welder being the counter to webs, I can't deal with no counter at all to a decent gorge (aside from maybe 3 nades spamming to hard he can't get close enough to web...)

You forgot about bile bomb, it makes the battle gorge not only viable, but necessary.
I webbed them and I dropped some OCs and held them there with my webs. Good fun. They got **** lol <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
Possible solutions =
Electirfy HA burning the webs on contact perhaps?
Have an area hit effect perhaps ?
Web on floor screws up ya legs perhaps?
Web mid lvl lose ya gun ?
Web head lvl choke to death <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> narr cant see or summit

Why would there be that many HA without having welders?
One gorge CAN stop an entire team of HA/welders, I know I've done it and had it done to me. The web forms on you (if the gorge shoots you with the web directly) and even though you're firing your welder, it still gets you.
I wonder how many more times I will say this in this thread...

Sheesh.
It's a freakin web. If a big fly lands in a web in your backyard , you don't see the fly stand up and scream 'Time out , this web is just a little to strong........how am I supposed to get out of this?!?!?!?!? This isn't fair!!?!?!?!?!'

Dude, geez. How many flys you see with heavy armor on?! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
I bet 80% of people who posted here haven't even read the posts trough or seen good gorges webbing (or any gorges for that matter)...
for those that don't want to clicky:
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Question - I need to know the stregth of a spider's thread for a
science project but I can't find it anywhere.
------------------------------------------------
A major problem with this kind of question is that there are many
different spiders and their silk can be quite different from one species to
another. That may be one reason I couldn't find any specific numbers, the
books I checked say "as strong as a steel thread of the same size," or
"twice as strong as a steel thread of the same size," I don't know if that
is going to be much help for a science project. The other thing that makes
spider silk unique is that while it is super strong it can also stretch,
some species as much as double length before breaking.

So if a tiny spider's web can be "as strong as steel" how much stronger is a web made from something the size of a large dog?
Oh look onos can counter our HA/HMG nerf him and so on
