<div class="IPBDescription">want to play something different?</div> we all know this problem: you made a map but not a single server will play it because some admins are sowhat brainless ^^
now it´s time to change this: -=Templers Custom Fightcenter=- (62.93.201.6:27300 pw: ngg) the cycle had been modified to feature custommaps also. download links on <a href='http://www.ngg-central.de.vu' target='_blank'>ngg-central</a>, maps can also be dowloaded from <a href='http://www.thehivemind.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=3' target='_blank'>the hivemind</a>

- server is a 12 slot password clanserver
- pings are stable (but everybody with a server claims that)
- installed plugins:
* cheating death
* unstuck pro
* status display
* lerklift ("lets bomb the marines with gorges!")
and Im still testing. If any mapper feels to play his map that is listed here, either join the server or the irc channel #nostromo (quakenet).
and there will be also the possibility to playtest other custom maps. but I mean serious maps plz <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
ask for Lt.Gravity for map submission or Black Templer for some more information (server,pw,...).

first of all we are no real clan. we are more like a player group with ns as their favourited game. a webpage where mappers add their maps is not the goal of the custom server. all maps are viewed and slightly playtested in order to get into the mapcycle. this avoids crapmaps on the server, so their arent any boxmaps like siege, pillbox ans marsoutpost.
the cycle shurely will change but I think it will grow. I would be happy if the mapper of the cacle maps would contact me. I know that their is nothing more satisfying than playing your own map in real combat <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I point out that this has nothing to do with kindness (although Im a kind person ^^ ) as with the fact that there is a MASSIVE lack at custom maps played in the net.
it will take some more days till the server is fully functional. join #nostromo, there are enough players you can mess with around 18:00pm european time.

und ganz nebenbei mal angemerkt: wenn du auf dem server einen ping von 90 hast, ist deine verbindung miserabel...

have to change the cycle a bit. ns_next had some major gameplay problems so it will be removed with the next update. ns_sphere went nearly unplayable with the marines not able to select their buildings to upgrade. ns_hydrosity and ns_colony crashed due mapload. hope there will be no errors any more... but one positive news: ns_surface, at least not too detailed, got some kind of cult-status. its great <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

ns_surface got quite funny. ns_greian is quite small but a fun to play... ok, if the marines refuse from jp-rushing the hives on first round orientationplay <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
I shall check it out when I find the time.
that doesnt mean that there are no "boxmaps" present but that are some funny variants. ns_pitchblack, ns_layout are for pauseplay and are not actually in the cycle. if you guys know cool "ns-like" maps, gimme a hint. Im tired looking for decent maps only to download 30 crapmaps....
couldnt get an idea of ns_karnak cause of missing v_wad.wad (watch out boy this can make your map pretty unpopular!)
as addition I want to invite some guys onto the server exspecially:
- Nay (for ns_colony which is one of the best looking maps ever and doesnt lame on gameplay)
- Chrome Angle (for ns_11th_hr13 that we havent played but it was what came into my mind <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )
- Humb1ed (for ns_cilrais_1229 thats kinda unusual mapstyle... "oh... its... pink?" *smile*)
- Grey Hawk (for ns_greian that is an really amazing map because it isnt too big but real good looking)
any official mapper is welcome to join also.
but plz be patient because the server isnt too much frequented to this time. but that will change soon <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
If you come on over to my server sometime, perhaps you can show me around the map if I put it on? I may put that into a "voting" rotation.

I even tested this before I released the map. I moved the wad files from the NS directory to the root directory and then ran the map. So now I get to recompile for another 5 hours, in addition to looking like a fool. Argh.

"Dont make Atomicmass?" - "Why? I havent played it yet." - "I dont like custom maps." - "Whats the cause?" - "I dont like them."
now we know why there are only few custom servers out there <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> since we played ns_colony, everyone get somewhat exited, it was real fun. and Im very happy with the Nostromo Gaming Group (NGG) cause everyone liked playing the maps very much. after 5 hours of custom play there where ns_caged and suddenly I felt terrible bored.

now that i think about it, the relation between players on the server and cpu load is not quite given. a game with two players surely eats almost as much processing power as a game with four players.
you never had a server, right? I will explain whats the problem: you buy the slots. if you want more slots you have to pay more. thats why templers server has got 12 slots. and even these are not fillable...
But you are right, I never had a server, but my clan leader has one of his own, that's why I mentioned it. If one of your friends had a fast connection he could have made up his own server, too. And in this case you would not have had to pay per slot. ...if you know what i mean.
why did you tell me about the pings? do you mean that the 'speed' does not depend on cpu usage, but on bandwidth for all those entities? *hopestounderstanditright*
ok, now you have payd for 12 slots and you can't fill them? why is that? if the server is too bad to handle 12 players i would not pay for 12 slots any longer.
darkhound: good work. there is some architecture I really like. it seems to be a beta version <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> so keep up the good work. think about if a hive that marines can shoot from a large distance is a good idea. but I dont want to critize your map here. but I have to say that the chance for a permanent place in the cycle is not given. that doesnt mean that the map is bad (its pretty good) but it seems to be quite plain <i>for my taste</i> in some areas. hm...
in which country you are living? we could get a little timeproblem, otherwise I would tell you a time we are playing and shurely could test the map for gameplay. I live in germany, europe. time we are playing is around 19-23o?clock (7-11pm)
