Yes, Another Concept. Very Crude.

Shotgun or Light Machinegun?
Okay - I whipped this up in a few minutes - and I may even have a go at colouring it! (I found out how to use textures... but I'm still learning).
Anyways, here ya go. Anything wrong with it?
A few of my gripes:
-The Magazine - the back and the front may need some work. I might even add an ammo counter, or a scope. Etc.
Any suggestions? What does it look like to you, a shotty or an LMG?
Anyways, thanks for your time,

Seriously sid, why not have a crack at modelling some of these yourself?
Your head is obviously buzzing with imaginary spaceman gun designs, so you may as well give it a go. Honestly , the actual basic modelling isn't that hard, it's the optimising, meshing, skinning, compiling and animating thats a right ****.
Start with Milkshape I reckon. It's not the best, but it's straightforward and most of the other modellers are loaded with super advanced features you will never need in a HL modelling context.
Check modelling 101 for tuts, and start simple.
This isn't meant to read as "OMG! nub! read tEh modal101 ", it just seems you have a head full of ideas and you may as well have a go.
It's honestly a really good feeling when something not only works, but looks cool and even runs in game.
I won't lie and tell you it's easy, but it is possible with a lot of reading and patience. You've already designed the guns, you only have to make them in 3D rather than 2D y'know?
It's far from done, but I've been doing modelling for roughly 12 weeks..
Sure , it sucks, but it sucks a helluva lot less than it did 12 weeks ago.
My point is, give it a crack, you will get better..give it some serious effort and you might even end up good at it.
If you don't smash your PC in frustration, of course..
G'wan, give it a try.
You can thank god,im here for the rescue!pm me!

Praise be! for a model ninja who speaks plain english!!
And for an intro to Milkshape, this guy also makes a lot of sense..you want Milkshape 1-6..

Yup, right up until you realise you suck at organising folders and it cannot find the stuff it needs...

I like the HMG2. Might be a little hard to control, without a stock or anything.
(Thats supposed to be a wine glass. )
Anyways, how do I delete sides?
For example, I go "Select" > "Face" ("Ignore Backfaces" and "Select by Vertixes" are OFF) and, for example, I just want to select ONE face from a cube. But when I try and do that, it selects EVERYTHING but ONE face. and I want the exact oppisite of that.
How do I "Delete" these extra faces? (Not actually "Delete" them, but just unselect them.)
Shift and right click unselects the same way.
I rarely use the ignore backfaces option. I just select what I want, then look in the other views and deselect anything else. Sometimes its frustrating to select just one face you want, but in general it's fairly easy
Make sure your selecting the proper thing. Don't have the "groups" button pressed when you really want faces. (groups selects a whole pre-defined group, face selects one or more faces in a model, and vertex obviously selects only the dots)
I try the deselecting thing - and when I try to extrude the cube, only 1/3 of the faces actually sucessfully extrude.
(Well - I'm only using the cube as an example. I'm working on a stock and it is very hard to explain)
You've got 3 views; I usually use right or left view since thats the side view, but top and front view are useful for ensuring only what you want is selected.
For more complex models, all 3 are needed.
Just wait till you get to the point where you have to model parts vertex by vertex because the prefabs just won't do it
If your in doubt, go to perspective view and right click then hit "wireframe" then move it about to make sure it's proper
Shift+Ctrl+H "unhides" everything.
Secret cheatmode #2
In Milkshape, leave one hand over F1-F4, this wil speed you up by at least 50%....
Exactly
For depth
You can extrude both the top and sides if you want. Say you add depth by taking a simple box, then extruding both sides out, and scaling them down a bit, then extruding the top faces up, and then scaling it down a little, similar to this.
I hope it helps a little I took the basic box (the 4 center verticies) and selected one side (making sure that was all that was selected), extruded out, selected the other, extruded out, then did the top, scaling each as I went down a bit.
