After having bought the amazing <a href='http://www.allegiancehq.org' target='_blank'>Allegiance</a> a couple years ago and never having been able to play because of technical issues, I'm itching to get into it. I found the amazing <a href='http://www.alleg.net' target='_blank'>http://www.alleg.net</a>, and have downloaded and installed everything, and am now waiting and hoping to be authorized as a valid player who doesn't cheat.

I don't feel like waiting 2 days for them to get back to me though. Could anyone here vouch for me in-game and invite me in? I'd like to play as Flayra of course.

I'd love to do something larger scale like this...

Well, I bought Allegiance some years ago and had a GREAT time with it. Massive multiplayer games, and most of all, commanding capital ships.

I remember being the alien (forgot their names) with their amazing capitals, shooting 12 kilometers away. Nobody could touch me.

It's a shame it was all buggy. And when my free month trial expired, I just didn't play much anymore.
And when I decided to paly again (when the game was decided to be free again), the auto-updater just didn't work anymore.

So, I'd love to play it again, but can't... Hope this will do good.

And if anyone is considering buying this game, go for it. If you enjoy spaceflight and dogfights, you would be AMAZED by the feeling when you burst your autocannons and the oponent's cannons can be heard, whizzing by you with the Doppler effect. And not to mention afterburners and joystick force feedback, ooooh boy.

I played the beta and release version of Allegiance.

They had some predictable issues (ping time being problematic at close distances, etc), but the game itself was pretty cool. Nothing like piling into a cruiser with 4 other people and fending off bomber attacks from your little turret...

Allegiance is one of the reasons I was interested in NS, since the overall game topology is basically the same - a dynamic map with a RTS/action hybrid style gameplay.

And yeah, shooting from a hiant capital ship is just great. What about kamikazing? ^^

Well I don't live in America either so I guess I need someone to vouch for me too (i assume one person can vouch for an unlimited number of people).

Sounds interesting, but I won't know how good it is until I play it, and that will need someone to vouch for me.

You get to pilot the capitals and others jump into your belly turrets. It's great fun, believe me. And no, Allegiance is 650 mb long, so you have to buy it, it's still retail I think...

No, being a horrible commercial failure it has been abandoned and is now free.

But since they now have this gruesome complicated verification/login process no sane person will be willing to endure, it will be amusing to observe how the game dies a second time, this time killed by paranoid cheatophobia.

I'm one of the admins over at www.alleg.net and the one who handles new registrations. For those who are not already using paypal, the registration is indeed painful - but between it and the protection that's already in place which averts the simpler cheats, I'm pleased to say we have an effective 0-cheater rate. Paranoia pays <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Yes we have lost players recently, but it's got as much to do with SW: Galaxies beta (aka Evercrack 2003) as it's to do with the registration system.

I just received an email from Flayra, and having followed the excellent Natural Selection through its beginnings, I'm more than happy to accommodate all members of this community who wants to try Allegiance. So let's make it simple:

That's it.. If you can do this before next Tuesday I'll get back to you within the day - after that I'll be out of town for a few days.

As for the game itself... words fail to express how brilliant it is. Think X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter, except with 6 (techpaths) * 8 (factions) times the ships, 10 times the playing area, 8 times the players (on a good day) + RTS/NS style commanding, tech research and economy, finallly more of a focus on teamwork then DM and you are beginning to get close. You won't be disappointed.

Get the game from <a href='http://www.alleg.net' target='_blank'>http://www.alleg.net</a> then the patch and SOVLogin from <a href='http://login.alleg.net' target='_blank'>http://login.alleg.net</a> - (skip the bits about registration)

I would also like to wish you success with NS1.1. One of my biggest gaming regrets is not having played NS, and now I no longer have either HL or the time.
